We all know that Pocket Monsters games are released in pairs. Red and Green. Gold and Silver. Ruby and Sapphire. Diamond and Pearl. It's only natural to assume that Generation V will be released as a set of two games.
But have you guys considered that they might stop doing that?
The whole idea of splitting the games up was to get players to double dip so they can get all the pokemon, right? Or, if you believe the interviews, to get fans to go out and meet other fans. But with WiFi and the GTS, hasn't the idea of version exclusive pokemon pretty much become obsolete? You don't need to buy more than one game in Generation IV to get all of them, and I can't imagine that Generation V will be any different. Nintendo counts pairs of games as one game anyway when talking about sales figures, so why not just go that extra step and actually make them one game?
Do you think paired games are a gimmick whose time has come, or do you think it's become too much of a tradition for Nintendo to abandon?
