Court Official killed in deadly shooting at Las Vegas Courthouse

A deputy U.S. marshal and a court security officer were shot after gunfire broke out Monday inside the lobby of a federal courthouse in Las Vegas.

Dave Oney, spokesman for the U.S. Marshals Service, told Fox News that the marshal and guard were shot at approximately 8 a.m. local time inside the building's lobby.

The FBI confirmed that the gunman, who confronted the two with a shotgun, was killed on the scene.

Oney said he didn't have immediate information about the condition of the marshal and the guard.

Police and federal agents swarmed the multi-story building that houses federal courts and offices for officials including U.S. Sens. Harry Reid and John Ensign.

All surrounding streets around the downtown courthouse were reportedly blocked off following the shooting.

"The courthouse is still being secured," Oney said.

This hits closer t home because this is in my state, even though I'm several hundred miles north of Vegas.
