Since crackfics are becoming more and more popular and numerous here, there has been talk of creating a category for them in the awards.


I just wanted to see what the popular opinion is regarding this. Do you guys want it? Do you not? Why or why not?
 
Definitely. I'd have a contender too, with my crack/shipping/anime fic The Shipping Company.
 
I see no harm in adding this category, yes for sure!
 
I support the addition of Crack Fic. Sure, there might only be two contenders, but Shipping only had two contenders last Quarter and they were by the same author and there were like no complaints about that.

I think Crack is a legitimate category and the basis should not be on how many entrants there will be but on whether or not it is a legitimate category.
 
I've written a chaptered crack-fic myself and read quite a few, so I agree that crackfics can be done well and badly, just like all other kinds of stories. On the other hand, the definition of crack-fic is not necessarily to be funny, just to be totally out there, so determining what's crack and what isn't can be kind of hard... regardless, we sure can try. I like the idea of a crackfic section.
 
I would vote yes, although I would also like to say for the general well-being and credibility of the awards, we should try to decide on which categories we are going to go with for the long run, and stick with them.

Now, I know we are in this thing's infancy, so obviously there are going to be minor tweaks and things going on to make this awesome awards event even better. But I'm just saying I don't think we should be changing a whole lot of things from quarter to quarter just for the sake of changing.

That being said, like my initial point, I am absolutely for a 'best crack fic' category.
