Does anyone know a good tutorial for creating custom trainer sprites in MS Paint?

Do you mean, like edited sprites or sprites from scratch?

I have an extra tip for you:

DON'T SAVE IN MS PAINT.

It's okay to use it, but DON'T SAVE WITH IT. MS Paint is an easy tool to make sprite stuff, but it screws up your picture once it's saved. What I do is take my final project, put it on Paint.net, and then save it THERE.

A simple solution... Save in PNG Format, the reaon MS Paint screws your picture up most of the time is because it's most likely either saving in 16-color BMP, or JPG format.

Making custom trainers is easy if you know what you're doing. I can only for edited sprites because I haven't attempted to try scratch ones. It's like recoloring or splicing pokemon only with trainers. Try to combine two trainers having the same pose or use the horizontal/flip option on paint to make them kind of have the same pose. If you're changing hand positions, make sure it suits the whole sprite (this I'm still working on). Also make sure all the parts of your sprite fits together. I hope I help you if you need more of an idea, just ask me and I'll try to post screen shots for an example or something else.

when I made a scratch sprite, I had layers, but I suppose in pixel work it's not as important as like, say SAI or Photoshop drawing.
what I did is took a trainer sprite about the height I wanted, used that height in pixels and went from there.
everything else is pretty much the same as drawing a picture. if you're not a good artist I wouldn't suggest trying scratch spriting at all, honestly. but if you are, then all you need to do is do what you do when drawing. sketch, then outline, then color.
