If you agree with me that Cynthia is the best that has ever happened to Pokemon, then don't hesitate to join our club and make this a place for hero worship of the great, lovely, unique Cynthia.

Before you start, please pay attention to the following rules and always keep them in mind:

1. Stay on topic! Please keep all things in here about Cynthia and her Pokemon.

2. Post pictures, fanfics or stories, speculate and discuss about everything that has to do with Cynthia to at least some extent. BUT KEEP IT TASTEFUL. Filthy pictures or pejorative talk about Cynthia will NEITHER be accepted NOR tolerated!

3. Refrain from insulting each other. Every member of the club shall be considered as part of a huge family with one common venerable goal, Cynthia. Therefore, be nice to each other.

4. Important: When you're about to write your first post, please first of all say that you want to join, introduce yourselves with a few sentences and tell us why you love Cynthia and what you like most about her. This is meant to create a warm atmosphere and to help us get to know each other better.

- I've asked Misty to create a public usergroup for us. As soon as this has been completed, every Cynthia Club-member will be asked to join it in order to get a Cynthia smilie/icon under their usernames. This will be a public sign and proof of your membership here!

The first picture I wanna present you, is one that'S been fascinating me since I found it:

What might be on Cynthia's mind? She looks so depressed and that's somehow making me sad.
Lucario seems to be her loyal servant, a fact which I really like because Lucario is such an awesome Pokemon and besides Garchomp worthy of the only Pokemon Master, Cynthia.
Moreover, the picture as a whole is so overwhelmingly good. If you look at my nickname you'll understand why, won't you? The way Cynthia is portrayed as the invincible majesty is FANTASTIC This picture mirrors my innermost feelings, it's a masterpiece

The Glory Of The Queen​

In this picture we can see the Elite Four with Her Majesty at the top. Yes it's truly a majestic sight. But undoubtedly the highlight in this picture are the beams of light around her head. I don't want to insult any religious feelings, but I dare say it almost looks like a halo. Cynthia, the heaven-sent angel is surrounded by light. What a gorgeous and wonderful picture!


The second one seems to be a fanfic. The appropriate name this time I guess is

Very intriguing indeed. It emphasizes the mysterious, the magical side of Cynthia, something which our first discussion topic will be about. But more about that tomorrow, so please check back. I just want to maintain the suspense a bit, you know ^^

Ok ladies and gentlemen,

now that we're already enough members to start a proper discussion, I'd like to suggest the first topic (of course you can talk about other aspects of Cynthia as well, be please try to stick to the topic for at least the next days.

Is Cythia a deeply religious/ philosophical person who seeks the eternal truth ?​

Let's discuss this theory and find evidence for it in the form of quotes, pictures etc. !

First of all, it goes without saying that the religious and philosphical aspects in Pokemon differ a bit from those in the real world, of course, but, I think that one can nevertheless draw certain parallels between the mythology in Pokemon and religon or philosophy in our world. Although it's not quite scientifically correct, I'm convinced that we're allowed to equate both realms because of the striking resemblances between Pokemon mythology and real-life religion, especially since the introduction of Pokemon which rule time, space and reverse worlds and are considered the origin of all Pokemon.
So let's get started!

Evidence in the Anime for Cynthia being religious:
1.)The most obvious proof, of course, is Cynthia's remarks in "Top Down Training" as well as in "Losing Its Lustrous" and "Double Team Turnover". When standing in front of that stone plate with Dialga and Plakia at Amity Square and talking about the legend behind the the Dragon-Pokemon in her debut episode, she revealed that she was interested in Pokemon mythology and thus researched into it. I still remember her being so enthusiastic about the prospect of actually seeing the Dragons and subsequently discovering the origin of life, presumably Arceus.
2.)Of course, the other two episode were more about Team Galactic and their plans, but when talking with Ash and Co. about Azelf, Mesprit and Uxie and later about Team Galactic's plans to awaken Dialga and Palkia, Cynthia once again became philosophical.

Evidence in the games:
3.)When it comes to the games, it is her quotes which are especially intriguing and point to her search for eternal truths.
The first quote which is meant to prove her affection for everything that has to do with deities and powers beyond imagination is taken form Pokemon Platinum:

"This cave painting
...It's always been described this way. The light in the center represents either Dialga or Palkia appearing at the Spear Pillar. The three lights around it were thought to be Uxie, Mesprit, and Azelf. May I continue? But, then, I realized that there may be another way of interpreting this. Could this triangle of lights actually represent a different trio? Could they be Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina instead? And the large light at their center. Does it represent something else? Could it be what created this world of ours? May I continue for a little bit longer? Thank you for listening to my theory. Do you know of the ancient Plates they find all over Sinnoh? One of them had this engraved on it. 'Two beings of time and space set free from the Original One.' I think this quote, too, points to the presence of another Pokémon. A Pokémon even more powerful than Dialga or Palkia. Does that sound plausible to you? I'm not quite sure how Giratina fits into this scheme of things, but...It's said that in the Distortion World, neither time nor space were stable. I think that tells us something about Giratina, the only Pokémon there. It must have been as powerful as Dialga and Palkia, the rulers of time and space. In some way, though, Giratina has to have a power opposite of theirs. I'm sorry this is so long. May I say one last bit? A long time ago, I wonder what sort of person painted this? Dialga's Roar of Time...Palkia's Spacial Rend...To the people back then, those Pokémon really must have appeared to rule over time and space. Seeing them must have shaken the people to their very core. This painting represents those feelings of awe, wonder, and everything else. It passed that memory to countless people, eventually becoming a myth...That's what I believe as a researcher of myths. I think I let myself get carried away and talked for far too long. I'm sorry, and thank you. Let's meet again."

Am I going to far if I assert that the sentences in bold print somehow remind me of the Holy Trinity with the "light in the center" representing the word "God" and the three corners of the triangle symbolizing the three divine persons? Ok, I may be exaggerating, but you can't deny either that there aren't any resemblances at all.
4.)But the arguably ultimate proof for her connection with mystical things is the fact that she appears in HGSS in the Ruins of Alph where she's shown together with Arceus and even understands and translates what Arceus wants to tell you. Could it be more obvious? Cynthia is the one who we are supposed to associate with Arceus, the most powerful and most epic Pokemon (ever). She's the chosen one who is allowed to discover the secrets behind the Dragon trio and the origin of Pokemon. Isn't this the glorious, irrefutable proof that she's the legitimate queen, the best, purest, most impressive person in Pokemon ever?

I wouldn't call her religious in the sense of worshiping the deities, but I would say that she respects ancient history, myth and legend and that she is mostly interesting in learning all she can about the past. I do think she is philosophical because she is willing to take things into consideration that most people in game ignore.

In "Double Team Turnover" (DP96) Cynthia said the following to Ash's hurt Chimchar(I've written it down verbatim)


Cynthia: "You've certainly been through quite a lot, haven't you my little sweetheart?
I want you to remember that Ash and Paul have been through quite a lot of experiences with you. I know they walk different paths pursuing their dreams, but it's important to watch over them both as you all go into the future.
(...)
Remember I said "When every life meets another life, ( Ash: something will be born)
(...)
That's right, Dawn and so now what do you think you and Paul have discovered through the two of you meeting and working with Chimchar ,Ash?


Since this episode aired, I've been wondering, no, I should say I've been racking my brains over the question what Cynthia could have meant by these profound words.
