Personally i think cynthia is cool. she reminds me of lucario and umbreon and i think thats awesome. BUT SHE INFURIATES ME! i cant do anything in my platinum because i cant beat her. ive beaten all of her pokemon except for that damn milotic. it has such an amazing defense and since i started with turtwig that ice beam kills me in almost one hit. i used leaf storm on it and when it was supposed to be super effective,it didnt even take away quarter of its health. im at least four levels above it wih my torterra but it wont die! and since my lucario is my second srongest(at level 55) i dont really have anything else. giritina is killed taking out garchomp and the others are various levels in the forties and cant do anything. and lucario is killed with aura sphere from togekiss, which makes no sense to me. fighting may be strong against steel but it makes no sense to me. i beat cynthia in my diamond with the same starter but i cant beat her now. does anyone have any strategies i can use? i might start screaming if i cant beat her.

i never really found her that hard haha
start with lucario, spiritomb will do like nothing to him, so just use three swords dances and bye bye cynthia

thats what i did anyway
and use wood hammer on torterra, he's attacking not sp attaking, and will also get past milotic's spD

so i should teach torterra wood hammer, and what if my lucario doesnt no swords dance? it knows dragon pulse, flash cannon, aura sphere, and close combat. and the only reason im home is because im sick.is everyone else on this site too old for school or are they sick too? and how old are you guys? i m in like hogh school this year (9th grade) but i guess i cant make fun of you guys if im the same. Lol

lol im at university :)
you teach torterra would hammer at the move tutor with a heat scale, and with lucario thats tricky, calm mind would be perfect as they're all spA's, but you cant get it till the battle tower, if your willing to have a major changover, you could give it
swords dance
close combat
extremespeed
earthquake (if you have the tm still)

i think that would be a good set for the elite four, but i've never realy used lucario so i could know :/

oh hahaha good luck at university. im gonna take your advice and try against cynthia again. maybe ill raise a couple levels though

As for me, the first thing I'd do is remove that Giratina from the team... but that's just me, unwilling to use legendaries unless my opponent has a legendary too, heheh...

My team during that time was composed of:

Torterra
Electivire
Tyranitar
Togekiss
Snorlax
Vaporeon

Anyway, If I recall correctly. My Electivire was the one that took care of Cynthia's Milotic (my team's level back then was in the low 60's). I chose not to use Torterra due to it's lack of Water-type resistance (if I had a Venusaur back then, then that would be a different story), so Electivire was my best bet during that time, not because it has Water-type resistance (obviously not), but because of its speed. I don't think breaking down a wall with a slower wall would be too good.

Oh, and I'm turning 25 years old this year, and currently freelancing for another job, so I may be one of the older ones in this forum, heheh...

an electivire would be perfect, but im guessing you rnot abtle to trade and stuff from the other games?

and if your just desperate to beat her, just use as many legendaries as possible haha

I agree right there. Wasn't that hard. :/ I mostly used my starter. I have a habit of over training. I think my starter was at level 70 when I first left Suunyshore. :look:

If you're playing Platinum, I suggest getting a Froslass or a Glaceon and teaching it Ice Beam for Cynthia's Garchomp. For her Lucario, try using a Fire-type that's faster than Lucario; Magmar and Houndoom both have higher base speed than Lucario. If you decide to go with Houndoom, be sure it'll be able to take Lucario out in one hit or you'll get a face full of Aura Sphere. As for Milotic, you can either use a strong Attacker (I used Scyther my first go against Milotic, but Milotic does have Ice Beam in its arsenal, and as such, I don't really suggest Scyther as your ticket home) or an Annoyer with good Def and Sp Def, such as Parachisu, who can learn Spark (Elec Atk), Sweet Kiss, and Super Fang naturally, and can learn Thunder Wave and Double Team from TMs, although Thunder Wave isn't available until you gain access to the Battle Frontier.

A Luxray with Thunder Fang and holding a King's Rock is also optional, although Luxray does have a lower base Speed than Milotic does, which pretty much douses the flame of hope for Flinching.

i find that its ok to be older and play these games then to be little ten year olds running around like they are so cool cause they have platinum or somethin. and i actually just got a magmrter from the gts so im probably gonna use it against lucario as soon as i get its level higher. and when i first started platinumi caught a luxray,so im gonna level that up(its only level 24). im gonna use all your advices as one big advice and take out that damned cynthia!!!! and im having Gts problems too. someone had a that magmoaarter and wanted a pikachu for it. when i tried to trade it wouldnt let me, pikachu wasnt lit up. then i put it in the gts and instead of getting the level 100 that was being offerd i got a level 41? and this happens all the time! it wont let me trade even when i have the right pokemon! same happened with an absol but it wouldnt give me one. any help there too?

If you have Ruby, Emerald or Sapphire, you can get the TM for Calm Mind and transfer it over. So if you really need it, that's a way to avoid the battle tower.

I just used my Gyarados for pretty much all of the elite four. It knows ice fang, aqua tail, surf and dragon dance. I forget what level it was, but it took out Garchomp in 2 ice fangs with no dragon dance. When Milotic came up, I used about 3 dragon dances since Milotic couldn't really do that much damage to Gyarados, then took it out with 2 aqua tails, and OHKO'd Roserade and Togekiss with Ice Fang since those were always her last two pokemon.

she puts togekiss up like as her second or third in mine. i guess ill raise a garydos too =)

You can't defeat Milotic with Leaf Storm because Milotic's Special Defense is very high whereas Torterra's Special Attack is low. A Razor Leaf or two should put it's lights out.

I think your problem is you're severely under-leveled. If you have 4 in the 40's that's the first problem. I recall taking on E4 with 3 60's and a 55.

Also if you'd rather stick with one or two pokemon to sweep the entire E4, you need to have different types for your sweeper. I found Gardevoir and Houndoom to be very efficient, they KO'd the 90% of the E4 for me on my first run through Platinum.

You want to get good sweepers with vast options for their movepools, your Lucario looks good, except his level. Look at the 4 types and try and make movesets around them. I found Platinum to be much easier than Diamond, because I knew what to expect.

WOW, you are FOUR WHOLE LEVELS HIGHER then it? what an acomplishment! Sarcasm aside, only four levels higher isn't going to do anything. Train it some more levels and give it a meadow plate for a stron gleaf storm. Also since its defense is lower you can also earthquake it to ko it.

I was incredibly underleveled when I took on the Elite Four, not knowing what I was doing, that being said I defeated them at my second attempt. I was all 42's, 43's, 44's and I managed to get up to her. Unbelievably her Garchomp was 64 and that was incredibly easy for me lmao, I had the most trouble with her Gastrodon D: (LOL).

But without a doubt she has been the hardest champion.
