Will we see his character in the anime as pretty similar to the one in the games?

So will we see him somehow capture the lake trio, get the red chain thingie, and then ultimately lose to ash and retreat to the reverse world???

That mostly depends on the rate the Galactic arc is going. To me it's going really slow, but the show is unpredictable, so they might surprisingly pick up the pace.

As if we all knew.

Sorry, but it really bugs me when people go to fan-operated message boards to ask questions about episodes that haven't even been written yet. We don't have any more information than what's already been given to everyone else.

I think it's totally a valid question. What's a forum without speculation?

Cyrus in the anime is pretty maniacal, but I don't know how much the writers are borrowing off of the games? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think that he was under any sort of disguise in the games, whereas in the anime, he was friends with Cynthia's grandma and they... baked cookies together or something. But really, he seemed pretty unassuming in his introduction episode until he went postal.

Nah, he wasn't really nice to the player in the games. Just cryptic.

I agree, that guy is a grade A example on who should be admitted into an insane asylum. I think in his 1st episode his eyes glowed reddish for some reason. And then he commands an army of Golbat, and noone is that much the wiser.

I think they'll probably follow the games in his regard.

What if Cyrus had a Joker-mentality?

That would be EPIC -- in the very best possible way.

...Not having seen any episodes with Cyrus in them myself, I can't really comment. But now I know I'll find myself hoping that JB88's prediction comes true.

I totally agree. I hope that we see a very mild approach to that. I mean, I think it's a good idea if they want to mimic the lastest "big thing", like how they do the episode titles based off real-life pop culture and such.

And I don't mean an all-out Joker mentality, but only the insane parts. It would go very well with what he wants to do. And if this never works in the anime, then I may have brought up a good fanfic idea.

They seem to be using Cyrus's DPA! personality for the most part for the show. Which is an interesting and fascinating characterization, but I think it would have been more interesting to explore the game version some more. What causes that denial of emotions? What makes him let his guard down enough to show them (which he does)? And what makes him give the player (or, if used on the show, the twerps) one of the most useful items in all of Sinnoh, one that he *knows* could be used against him?

Bah, Cyrus doesn't have a Joker mentality...but I can think of a similar character.
Guess Who said:
"Life...dreams...hope...where do they come from? And where are they headed? Such meaningless things...I'll destroy them all!"
Only, you know, that guy pretty much wears his wicked wicked heart on his multicolored sleeve. But the thought process is almost identical.

What if Cyrus had a Joker-mentality?

That might make things interesting.

Though I must admit that his characterization as a whole seemed very similar to Serpent from Mega Man ZX. I mean, both characters had been the leaders of a organization that most people thought was pretty benign (MMZX: Slither, Inc. DPP: Team Galactic), both characters were basically secretly planning on doing an action that would end up having catastrophic results (MMZX: Trying to reshape the world by activating Model W. DPP: Trying to reshape the world by awaking Dialga/Palkia/Giratina.), Both had become insane freaks, among other things.

Personally, I was a bit surprised that Kiyoyuki Yamada, Serpent's Seiyuu, didn't voice Cyrus, as he would have done a great job voicing a total madman.

On topic: perhaps they will, perhaps they won't.
