So I understand that most of you probably can't watch the 2:30 {eastern time} airing of Pokemon due to School, work, or substance abuse, but Cartoon Network recently returned to airing the eps stretched......after about 20 episodes in widescreen. In some words people....

WHHYYYYYYY GOD WHYYYY?

Don't be surprised if this means come Saturday, we'll be back to stretched......again.

This is why I stopped watching it on TV ages ago. Watch it through other means.

According to CN's schedule on their website, they're airing episode "Ancient Family Matters" which was animated in standard-def 4:3 aspect ratio, and since CN seem to have some phobia with pillarboxing that Nick and Disney themselves don't have, I guess the stretching of it is inevitable. I wish CN got their act straight with every other show that aired in 4:3 as well.

Cam down you may see it aired again in the right format later.

DVR FTW!!! and plus there is the internet dude, its not that hard.
but yes i do agree, personally i think CN is just trying to screw Pokemon over all together.

And why would they do that? Honestly, Pokémon's like the only show bringing in their ratings besides Ben 10 and The Secret Saturdays.

The anime did not start going into HD format until The Lonely Snover (DP121). Until that point of time, the anime (even the original Japanese version) aired the episodes in standard format.
If the episode that aired today was between Get Your Rotom Running (DP119) and Trials & Adulations (DP119), it's not fair to say that Cartoon Network has forced the episode back to 4:3 aspect ratio. For that episode was always in said format.

It'd be freakin stupid if they slowly let Pokemon go.
I thought it was doing good in the ratings for it being in the 7 ish time slot. Some times Cartoon Network really makes you think =/

do you even see the time slot its at??? new episodes are on Saturday 6:00 am in the morning, i have DVR to record it, plus the internet. but that's not the point, CN is depriving the kiddies from such a great show. and what would they rather show? flapjack and chowder, lame ---___---- CN started going downhill as soon as they decide to show reality shows.

that's why im led to believe it

How come they only stretch Pokemon, but keep Yugioh 5Ds in wide screen? Oh, was Pokemon not made as wide screen when it aired in Japan? Because I think 5Ds was. If not, PUSA should have converted it like 4kids does.

They also have that Yu Gi Oh ripoff show Caotic man that show never goes away! I always see it on at 6:30 before school and I cannot stand it so I just watch the nick @ nite show that's on and then watch Spongebob Squarepants cause that show's still funny

A lot of the Turner-owned networks do that. If you ever watch TBS or TNT, they stretch many of the 4:3 shows into an awful faux-widescreen kind of picture.

It's especially annoying when they even do the same on the HD version of the channel.

What exactly is Cartoon Network doing? I DVR the show so I do't know it's time slot. Somebody please fill me in.

Pokemon started being animated in widescreen around episode DP121, the Lonely Snover. I believe that Pokemon is one of the few anime that remained so long with doing the show in 4:3. The episode that aired today at 2:30 according to what I saw on TV schedule on CN's website was DP107, an episode that was still animated in 4:3 long before OLM decided to animate Pokemon in a 16:9 format.

Besides, Cartoon Network in general has a problem with airing most of their shows in widescreen. They refuse to air the earlier seasons of Chowder and Flapjack in their proper aspect ratio, despite being animated in a 16:9 format. They're cropped on iTunes and CN feed, but the DVDs that were released for Chowder, Flapjack, Secret Saturdays, Ben 10 Alien Force that I own, have them in 16:9. So far the best way for me to know if something is 4:3 or 16:9 is to watch it on CN regular feed, if it's fits my regular tv screen, it is 4:3 and on my HD TV it will be stretched. If it's letterboxed, it's HD Ready and won't be stretched on my HD tv.

Okay imagine this- A human and a very angry cat. We are the cat. They are the human. The cat holds onto the human's arm and sinks their teeth and claws into their arm. -This represents the discussion I see before me.

They want to die. Pokemon is the only thing that is keeping them afloat.

I DVR all new episodes. I am out of the loop, I stopped tuning into CN when they spammed you wit SW Clone Wars Flaphack and the secret people.Watched it one more time to see KND and the fat yellow dog thing kept airing as comercials with some idiot kid saying ITS ADVENTURE TIME!! Plus I hate the Total Drama series, they are a cheap kids ripoff of Survivor.

Yep the kid shows are no longer for kids

Pokemon to CN is like Spongebob Squarepants to Nickelodion

I know thank you!!!! They have no clue what they are doing. They disposed of Mizuzi and Toonami. I mean when your an eager little kid, and you dont get your Naruto, Bo-Bo-Bo and Yugioh GX, you get angry!!!
