Has anyone here heard some of these? They are basically a type of "Wild Mass Guessing" that involve grimdark therories about certain cartoon, anime, and video game series. Here's a few I found that were very interesting:

There’s a theory that interprets Ed, Edd and Eddy’s entire cast of kids as all being dead and living in a purgatory of an eternal childhood cycle (originally an eternal summer, but then they started going to school), thusly the complete lack of any adults in the purgatory. They’re are a number of explanations for their deaths, ranging from basic deaths such as an explosion due to a gas-leak in the neighborhood, to apocalyptic ones such as nuclear explosion or the spread of a deadly disease that killed most of middle-America. A related theory suggests that the kids in the cul-de-sac are dead children from the neighborhood, each from different time periods (Johnny and Rolf from the 40’s, Kevin from the 90’s, Naz from the 60’s, Jimmy from the 00’s, and so on).

There's also the theory that the entire world of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is merely the imagination of a deranged human girl in an insane asylum named Pinkamena Diane Pie (in other words, Pinkie Pie), as her way of coping. Pinkie Pie is simply a split personality of this girl, whom is incarcerated for murdering her parents and friends because her dolls told her to, think about the fanfic "Cupcakes" for a minute, then make the infamous grimdark fanfic take place in the real world with humans, because that's basically what this theroy it to an extent.

There's also the "Ash Ketchum comatose" theroy (which I bet some of you have heard of), an Animal Crossing theory similar to the MLP one above, and countless others. Discuss and post other dark cartoon theories you have found.

The babies in Rugrats don't exist and are products of Angelica's imagination because her mother ignores her and her relationship with her father is shallow and parasitic. In reality, Chuckie died along with his mother, which is why Chaz is such a nervous wreck. Tommy was a stillborn, which causes Stu to sit in the basement making toys for his son that never had a chance to live, and the DeVilles had an abortion. Angelica couldn't decide whether the unborn child would be male or female and thus simply invented the same character in her head twice with different genders.

I recall reading somewhere that the series Neon Genesis Evangelion was actually all in the main character, Shinji Ikari's mind, and he was in a mental institute.

See, his mother died/was killed in front of him and the resulting trauma caused his father Gendo to send him to a mental hospital. The reason he never visited was due to the shame of having his son being in a mental hospital. Misato Katsuragi was a family friend who decided to start visiting Shinji, Pen-Pen was either a cat she owned and let Shinji play with or a stuffed animal the hospital deemed Ok for Shinji to have. Asuka, Toji, Kensuke, and the rest of his classmates were his classmates at school. Asuka, Toji, and Kensuke in particular were his best friends. Rei was Shinji's sister, whom he didn't really know that much, and Rei didn't know Shinji, hence why she's so quiet around him. Kaji is Misato's on-again/off-again boyfriend and also Asuka's guardian while she's living in Japan. Dr. Akagi is the woman in charge of keeping Shinji in check while he's at the hospital. Shigeru, Makoto, and Maya are just three of the main staff at the hospital, so Shinji sees them the most. The rest of NERV is other staff at the hospital. Fuyutsuki is Gendo's lover an old college professor of Gendo and stayed in contact with Gendo and Yui until Yui's death. Kaworu Nagisa was just an imaginary friend Shinji created. His "death" was simply Shinji realizing he didn't need imaginary friends since he was going to be released. (Which is why Kaworu wasn't in the Congratulations scene)

The Congratulations scene at the end of the show was them all congratulating Shinji on being released from the hospital. He saw his mother there because he knows her spirit will always be with it.

I heard the strange theory that the entire series of Digimon Savers/Data Squad was all a simulation on Izzy's laptop.

And speaking of computers, there's the disturbing theory that the world of Mega Man Battle Network is a dystopian future with no internet freedoms, with the mere mention of downloading a simple file (whether it's illegal software or not) is met not necessarily with outright deletion, but incredibly heavy and imposing restrictions or fines, since everyday life has become so ingrained to the internet that even the stove is connected to the internet. The Undernet, while being the home to the most dangerous criminals on the internet, is the only remaining place in the entire internet that still shares information freely and without limits or fear of persecution, and the users of the Undernet are the only people who make a stand for the freedoms the internet is supposed to represent (despite most of them being terrorists). Now imagine if the real life internet was like that...

Well that just ruined Ed, Edd and Eddy for me.

The Smurfs is a representation of the socialist party: everyone looks the same and are characterized by a generic title, live without signs of war, and the only different Smurf in the village, Papa Smurf, is a representation of Josef Stalin.

I found a new one about Handy Manny:

Manny was a decent guy with a wife and some kids who had gotten a job as a handyman in Sheetrock Hills after he and his family moved there. Manny was good at his job, while he didn't make a whole lot of money he was able to save a lot by building most of his house himself and doing all of the upkeep and whatnot for free.

One day while Manny was out working, there was an electrical fire in the house due to bad wiring and the house burned down, killing Manny's wife and children. Manny blamed himself and suffered a psychotic break.

Eventually Manny was released from the mental hospital and went to his workshop to find his toolbox and tools, a gift from his family when he became a handyman and the only memento he had of them. To Manny's surprise, his tools begin speaking to him and moving around the workshop. Manny realizes he doesn't have to be alone anymore because his tools are his friends. Manny forgets he ever had a family, replacing them with his beloved tools.

The other people in the town play along with Manny's madness because he was a decent guy and they feel bad for him, when he starts waving his tools around and speaking in different voices they react to the tools as if they were alive because they don't want to remind Manny of his loss.

This is why Manny is only ever called for very easy jobs like fixing one wooden stair or replacing a bar on a baby crib; the people don't trust Manny to do anything more difficult. It is also why Kelly gives Manny whatever supplies he needs without asking him for any money. Mr. Lowpart pretends to be a bumbling moron, but he actually makes sure Manny has enough to eat and that all of his bills are paid on time, since Manny is too busy playing with his tools to take care of things like this.

Spongebob Squarepants Squidward's Suicide and Red Mist

The theory that Littlefoot, Cera, Ducky, Petrie and Spike all died before the ending of The Land Before Time and that the Great Valley is actually heaven.

This only works if you ignore the many, many sequels made.

This is only one that I heard, I don't really believe it.

The Spongebob Squarpants characters are all based off of the seven sins

Patrick: Sloth (self-explanitory)

Squidward: Wrath (he hates Spongebob and Patrick, usually his rage leads him into getting badly hurt)

Mr. Krabs: Greed (pretty obvious, isn't it)

Sandy: Pride (Remember the episode called 'Pressure'?)

Plankton: Envy (also obvious)

Gary: Gluttony (pretty much all you see him doing is eating)

Spongebob: Lust (I....don't really know about this one)

There's a plausible theory about the characters of Winnie the Pooh being personifications of mental disorders.

Piglet - Paranoia
Rabbit - OCD
Eeyore - Depression
Tigger - ADHD
etc...

well, that ruins rugrats for me. I'm seriously disturbed.

actually it's the communist party. but yeah, that was an eye opener for me. still love the smurfs regardless.

I once heard someone compare the Smurfs to the Ku Klux Klan, but never Communist Russia...

I'd heard the Rugrats one before... that definitely screwed up those memories for me.

That Spongebob one is pretty good though... with the exception of of what Spongebob himself stands for. I'm giving that one some thought.

EDIT- Okay, me and my friends gave it some thought, and this is what we came up with. Spongebob doesn't represent lust. Lust is represented by the Krabby Patty, which literally EVERYONE loves. Squidward exploded once because he couldn't get enough of them.

However, Spongebob isn't out of the water. Because he's connected, and basically the ringleader of the whole group of representatives, he himself is the devil.

Doesn't mean i don't still love him <3

@LichenLeaf Spongebob does represent lust. The lust for life. Spongebob is always cheery and up for everything.

If that were true, then where on Earth is Littlefoot's mother?

She became an angel and was called off for other celestial duties?

Still wouldn't explain why Sharpteeth chased them all about. Unless they didn't know they were dead, or something. Ah well, dinosaurs didn't have religion anyways. Yet strangely enough, they had their own version of thanksgiving.

I found one a while ago about the mushroom kingdom. I know this is more of a video game theory, but I found it pretty....disturbing.

Think about all of those times when Princess Peach got kidnapped. It's been like nine times. Does the kingdom really have that bad security? After the first time, wouldn't they have made sure that it didn't happen again?

Well, here's why. Peach has been organizing for Bowser to 'kidnap' her, so she can get attention. Think about it: she's pretty much the only human in a land full of little mushroom things. Of course she'd want attention. And it doesn't look like she plans on stopping anytime soon.

Mario comes to the rescue every time Peach has been 'kidnapped' without suspecting a thing. Peach has him wrapped around her finger. He does have this doubt deep inside him, though, after going through incredibly dangerous worlds, risking his life, but every time Peach says "Thank you." He convinces himself that it's worth it.

Luigi has been shown to be a bit of an idiot, but in reality, he's one of the smartest people in all this. He saw through Peach's plan from the start, and tried to warn his brother about it, but Mario was too caught up in his love for Peach, so he didn't believe Luigi. Have you ever wondered why Luigi was only in one game? He couldn't bear to see his brother like this. And in games like New Super Mario Bros, when you could play as both of them, Luigi was only there to try and snap Mario out of it.

Yoshi is like Luigi. He knew what Peach was doing, but he realized that it was impossible to try and help Mario at this point, so he trid to stay out of this. No wonder he didn't show up for Super Mario Galaxy! (ignore the fact that he's in SMG 2) He retreated to the castle roof in Super Mario 64, and lay there, sleeping, until he got word that Mario had failed. THEN he took action.

So....that's all I got. I didn't make this one up, I got it from a website that I can no longer remember the name of. (Sweatdrop)

Ooh, I have one! Pheinis and Ferb actually centers around Candace and her teenage drug addiction(i.e hallucinations, running at super fast speeds etc.) . Her friends just play along with it. Agent P is only a figment of her hallucinations and her brothers are just average people.
