Hi. I'm Super Glitch, and this is my first fic. Basically, it's Dawn's journey through Sinnoh, when she isn't chosen as the player character. I got inspiration for this fic while reading Gastly's Mama's 'Rivals Story". I hope you like it.

Chapter 1
“Dawn, help me out over here” called Professor Rowan. “I can’t get this box of Pokédexes out of this suitcase.”
“Sure, Rowan” Dawn mumbled moodily. She finished positioning Rowan’s Pokémon textbooks on the bookshelf, then went over to help.
“And stop acting so moodily” said Rowan. “You weren’t so grumpy back then. You know, when I left, you were only 6 years old. I wonder what your dear mother Johanna has been doing lately. I better go check…”
Rowan kept droning on. Dawn rolled her eyes and knelt down to pull out the box that supposedly contained Pokédexes. She gave it a little twist and it came out easily. Far too easily. She held it up. It fitted quite snugly in her left hand. Being a ten year old girl, this wasn’t too big. It was also light. If Rowan had managed to fit a Pokédex in there it would be a fair bit heavier than this. Dawn frowned suspiciously. She slowly lifted the lid off the small wooden box, and carefully peered inside. Instead of Pokédexes, it was a small red and white ball, with a little circular button on the side. Dawn immediately recognized it as a Pokéball, used for storing Pokémon.
“Happy Birthday!” shouted Rowan. “That Pokéball contains Turtwig, a Grass-type Pokémon. I met it in Kanto. A kind boy named Ethan traded it to me. I hope you like it!”
“Rowan…” started Dawn.
“Oh yes! I got you something else as well!” cried Rowan.
“Rowan…” Dawn said again, but the excited Professor cut her off yet again.
“It’s a Pokétch!” yelled Rowan “The latest design! It’s got an app that shows the time, and one that shows your battle team, and…”
“ROWAN!!!” shouted Dawn.
“Yes?” asked Rowan, in a normal voice.
“My birthday was three months ago” answered Dawn.
“Was it?” inquired Rowan.
“Yes, Rowan” Dawn huffed. “Y’know, you really need to start paying attention.”
“I went to all this trouble to get you a Pokémon, and this is how you pay me back!?” cried Rowan. Dawn could tell he was getting a bit annoyed, so she decided to stop stirring him up. Once Rowan had calmed down a bit, he decided to go for a walk.
“Could you come with me Dawn?” he asked.
“Why?” she answered.
“To protect me from wild Pokémon” he said. “They can attack at any time.”
“Can’t you just go over the ledges?” she asked.
“Indeed I can…” realised Rowan. “But come anyway. Just in case.”
“Okay, I guess…” said Dawn, but she was a bit suspicious.
“I’ll give you time to see your Pokémon. Catch up to me.” Rowan stated, and closed the door behind him.
“OK…” said Dawn, uncertainly. “Um, go Turtwig?”
Dawn tossed the ball up in the air, and it exploded in a flash of light. A small, green turtle appeared. It was about the length of her forearm, and had a stupid leaf on it’s head. Dawn stared blankly at it for a few seconds before she fell on her back and started laughing at it’s stupidity. Then she felt a sharp pain on the back of her head.
“Ow!” she cried.
Dawn looked down and saw her Pokémon, Turtwig, staring up at her angrily. It snorted, and tackled her leg.
“Ow!” Dawn cried again. “That hurts! But if that hurt me so much, then how much would it hurt a Pokémon! You must be a strong battler!”
Dawn knelt down and tried to pick it up, but it withdrew into its shell, and refused to be picked up. Dawn rolled her eyes, pulled out Turtwig’s Pokéball and sucked it in. She sat down and thought. Turtwig was obviously a very strong Pokémon. But it wouldn’t be any use to her if it wouldn’t obey her. How could she make it more friendly? Apparently there was some person in Veilstone who gave your Pokémon massages to make them happier, but Veilstone was on the other side of Sinnoh, so that wasn’t much use. Apparently when Pokémon win battles, they become happier, but with a disobedient Pokémon, that wasn’t very helpful. If you walk with Pokémon, they become happier as well, but you have to do a lot of it, and you get so puffed, it usually isn’t worth it. Dawn realised she was in a dilemma. If Turtwig wouldn’t do anything for her, she wouldn’t even be able to catch a Pokémon, which would suck like hell. Then she jolted up out of the chair, remembering where she was supposed to be. She charged down to the lake, jumping ledges, instead of walking through the grass. She passed through the entrance to the lake, and saw Rowan standing at the waters edge, briefcase at his side, muttering to himself about something.
“Uh, Rowan?” asked Dawn.
“Yes, Dawn?”
“What are we doing here?”
“I don’t know. I just felt compelled to come here. It just felt… right.”
“Sure, Sure.”
Then Dawn heard a sound coming from the lakes entrance. She turned around, and saw a tall, blond boy with a stupid haircut walk in. He was followed by a dark haired boy with a red beret. He was wearing a black polo and light blue cargo pants. He also had a thin red scarf around his neck. There was no mistaking it: he was hot. In Dawn’s opinion, at least.
“Hey, Lucas, do you think we’re going to find a red Gyarados?” Blondie asked his friend. Lucas shrugged.
So that’s his name. Dawn thought.
“Dawn, we’re going now” said Rowan.
“OK” said Dawn, then turned to the boys. “Make way for the Professor.”
Lucas and his friend stepped to the side, to allow Rowan to pass through. Dawn passed Lucas a wink as she went past.
“Hey, Lucas” Blondie asked his friend. “Why did she wink at you?”
Lucas shrugged again.
“She was pretty though, wasn’t she?” Blondie asked.
Lucas shrugged again.
“Hey, what’s that!” exclaimed Blondie. “It looks like that old guy left his suitcase here! Lets get it and give it back to him!”
Blondie and Lucas walked over to the edge of the long grass. Blondie was about to step in when Lucas stopped him. Lucas made some hand gestures.
“Why shouldn’t we go in the long grass?” Blondie asked.
Lucas gestured some more.
“What? Wild Pokémon? We won’t be in there long enough anyway, Lucas” said Blondie. “Come on!”
Blondie grabbed Lucas and they walked into the grass together. They were lucky enough getting up to the briefcase, but when they did get there, two Starly leapt out of the bushes and attacked.
“Oh crap!” yelled Blondie. Lucas knelt down and opened the suitcase. There were three Pokéballs inside.
“Erm, which one do you want?” asked Blondie, whose real name was Barry.
Lucas reached in and pulled out a Pokéball. He threw the Pokéball in the air, and Chimchar, the Chimp Pokémon came out. Lucas smiled, and commanded it to attack the Starly. Meanwhile, Barry had pulled out a Pokéball containing Piplup, the Penguin Pokémon, and commanded a Growl attack. The two boys easily defeated the two Starling Pokémon. Just then, Dawn came rushing in.
“Did you use those Pokémon?” asked Dawn.
“There were wild Starly and they…” Barry started, but Dawn cut him off.
“I don’t care if you were attacked!” Dawn screamed. “The Professor won’t be happy!”
Dawn stormed away with the briefcase. How dare they use the Professors Pokémon? He had gone to so much effort to raise them, and they just start using them? It angered her a lot. She stormed back to the Professor, in Sandgem Town. She burst through the door, in a fit of rage. She wasn't really all that sure why though.
“They used them!” she screamed.
“Pardon?” said Rowan.
“The two boys at the lake. They used the Pokémon in the briefcase!” Dawn shouted.
Just then, Barry burst through the door.
“I’m sorry Professor Rowan!” he yelled apologetically.
“What for?” asked Rowan.
“For using your Pokémon” answered Barry.
“Oh, it’s fine” replied Rowan. “You can keep it. But on one condi…”
“Ok, thanks, bye!” shouted Barry, and he charged out the door.
Then Lucas walked in. He walked up to Rowan and passed him a note his mother wrote for him. Rowan took it and read it aloud. It said:
Dear Prof. Rowan,
My son Lucas is very sorry for what happened at the lake. He needed to use your Pokémon to protect himself and his friend. I hope you understand.
Love from, Lucas’s mother.
Rowan finished reading, and looked up at Lucas. Lucas smiled weakly.
“Well, Lucas” said Rowan. “I think you can keep that Pokémon, but under one condition. Take this.”
Rowan passed Lucas a strange red thing. It had a touch screen, and a couple of buttons. Lucas frowned at it uncertainly.
“It’s a Pokédex” Rowan explained. “It stores data on every Pokémon in existence. Nowadays Lucas, I’m too old to go gallivanting off on an adventure whenever it’s suits my fancy. I want you to travel around the region, and collect data on every Pokémon in Sinnoh, for my research.”
Lucas smiled and nodded in approval. Then he turned around and left. Then Dawn realised something, and ran off after him.
Rowan turned to his assistant.
“Funny little girl, isn’t she?” he asked.
The assistant nodded.
“Dawn, help me out over here” called Professor Rowan. “I can’t get this box of Pokédexes out of this suitcase.”
