Paul would annihilate Dawn. No contest. If Ash and Paul tied with each other, and Ash is obviously way stronger then Dawn, so yeah, do the math.

Now if you're actually talking about fighting brawl style, Dawn would totally kick Paul's ass.

Some people seem to be forgetting that even though Dawn knows how to battle, she's still a beginning trainer. I think Dawn's win/loss ratio is somewhere around more losses than wins at this point. The writers also drove that point home by having her lose two Contests in a row.

Dawn knows how to battle, but she lacks the experience. There's a big difference between knowing how to battle and actually having battle experience.

Pikachu had a look of hatred during the DP15 Gym battle. Other than her explosion at his complete indifference to her, there's nothing to suggest that Dawn hates him.
