I don't think there's a thread like this so...
What do you think about Dawn?
DP is already over a year and has currently 61 episodes and brought us some surprising things with Dawn like her two in row loses at appeals

- Do you like Dawn?
I like her
For me contests>gyms and I like her personality and the "daijoubu!"
And I like cute Pokémon

- Dawn's Pokémon
I like all her Pokémon since they're all cute and have nice personality
Piplup > Pachirisu > Aipom/Ambipom > Buneary
I like Buneary but it did the least of them and is the least interesting... hopefully it'll get better

- Dawn's rivals
Zoey > Kenny > Nando
I like Zoey and it's interesting to see a friendly rivalry and she was cool in DP61
Kenny was a little boring in his first appearance but the last contest made me like him a little more
Nando is only interesting because he do both gyms/contests

- Dawn's Contests
Jubilife/Floaroma > Hearthome > Solaceon > Unofficial
I liked that she lost the appeals in Hearthome and Solaceon
It's logical she won't always pass them (and helps to different her from May)
But when she lose the appeal than that makes the contest itself not that interesting since we don't get to see much of it
I like equally Jubilife/Floaroma and the unofficial simply wasn't as interesting as the others and also wasn't that important

I think losing the appeal in her first contest would be better though... it's like she's getting worse instead of better with the time XD
Contest 1: perfect appeal and one battle win (that they were so smart not to show despite that was her first contest battle)
Contest 2: Pachi mess up the appeal but pass and she got the ribbon
Contest 3-4: she don't pass the appeals?!...
I think her two appeal loses would make more sense before she make a perfect appeal and get a ribbon

Dawn lost the contests because of the appeal/time and won because of the time
So I hope her next win she'll knock out her opponent and next lose to be a knock out too

I also think it's completely stupid that we don't get any episodes that focus on Dawn that aren't contest/catch/rival episodes... May got such episodes like the Swablu one so why Dawn can't? the only such episode Dawn got is 10 (Pokétch)
I really hope she'll get more episodes that aren't contest/catch/rival

I do, a lot. She's pretty, and an interesting character. IMO she's very different from May. Her career choice is influenced by her mother and not her own decision. Not only that but she's stubborn and seems to be independent like she was in the

Pochama and Pachirisu get honorable mentions too. Pochama with it's stubborn qualities and Pachirisu because it's a squirrel and squirrels pwn. Not only that but we got to see her hair in spikes thanks to the cute rodent.
Mimirol I dont like. It's not exactly great-looking. It looks like some weird chocolate bunny covered with buttered popcorn..... no that's not it. Mimirol looks like a WALKING MUFFIN!

I looooove Kengo more than freggin DREW. He's cute, and I'd so date him if I were ten. Naoshi I could care less about. And the only thing I like about Nozomi is her character design, although she was rather nice in

- Hikari's Contests
Dont really care about them unless they have some really fancy graphics, a Pokemon I like like Cherrim or Buoysel participates or there's an interesting new coordinator (the later hasn't happened..... in DP at all?)

Overall I like Hikari. She's fun to draw (artist's point of view), and her house is gorgeous (architecture expert's point of view), I like the tudory look, although it's a little weird.

Well, so far she's my favorite girl, even though she's shoved down our throats and I call her theme "Jailbait's Theme". It's all for fun. It's nice to see a really girly girl in the anime, where as May was more boy than girl, IMO.

- Dawn's Pokémon
I like most of theme, my favorite is Pachirisu though. The poffin addicted crack joke is funny, and the little squirrel is always entertaing. It's in freaking Hippodown's mouth, it loves adventure! Ambipom is second, because of her being like a fat chick in the Vegetables section of a supermarket, she doesn't look like she fits, but she really acts enthusiatic about it. Buneary's cool, her crush on Pika's interesting, but I wish she was used more. Piplup's voice is annoying in both versions(mini-Hitler and Konohomaru, respectively) and is shoved in my face way too much for me to like it like I used to.

Nando>Kenny>Zoey
Call me fickle, but I like the bard. I've always like Latin wandering harp playing guys. And he has a freaking Krickturn. Krickturn. Kenny's nice, but he looks too much like a COTD, but his Pokemon make up for it. I still find Zoey a nosy bitch, but she was better in DP 61

- Dawn's Contests
Solaceon> Hearthome > Jublife/Floroma> Unofficial

Jessie=Ribbon, 'nuf said. I love how she broke down in the Hearthome contests. Everything else was meh.

All together, I really like Dawn. Her rivals aren't all that interesting, but her personality and Pokemon make up for it. Also, it looks like her contest arc won't be as much of a Deux Ex as May's was. May didn't know shit, and automatically won most of her contest. Dawn, even with her mother being a top coordinator, is struggling, like a true rookie should be.

As a character, I'll say, "I like her" and leave it at that. Although something that's glaring is how a good portion of her mannerisms and likes/dislikes are exactly the same as May's. While May was girly, Dawn kicks up the girly girl thing up to disturbing extremes with her hair management, her pretty dresses, the cheerleading/maid outfits, and so forth.

As for her Pokemon, they're awesome. She has my favorite team of the three girls mostly because of their personality.

I liked Contests in AG so naturally I still like them in D/P.

The only part I don't like about her character are her rivals. They're all purely ok, but they're nothing that special. I remember being more excited whenever Drew or Harley showed up, and all those one-shot coordinators from Hoenn were awesome. Still, I like Kenny more now than I did in his debut ep so that's saying something.

Overall I'm just glad we have a big main co-star in the anime. I have absolutely no desire to see things go back the way they were in Johto, so I'm glad the writers were smart enough to introduce a girl who gets a huge amount of spotlight.

Character, to me she's the best of the girls. My favorite, but yah they need to tone down the whole fan girl service but meh that's becuase I'm a girl and don't like to see that stuff LOL.

Pokemon-There all cool. my favorite has to be Buneary or Pachirisu. Too bad they don't use those two too much. Personally I feel her Pipulp is too overused.

Contests-D/P are too boring, so no I don't like the D/P contests.

Rivals-Kenny>Nando>Zoey.

Kenny is my favorite of her rivals, hes just too adorable. There making him slightly more intresting too and I like there past relationship. Nando is cool too, I like how he likes both contests and gyms, hopefully he will be the one to beat Zoey and take her ego down a notch. Zoey is my least liked of the rivals of hers, she's just annoying, I have my reasons for disliking her but yah don't feel like posting the reasons right now. Over all though her rivals are a tad bit lamer than Mays rivals, which makes her contests boring as well.

Dawn acts like she's a teenager. She's the most high-maintence of all the three girls, constantly bringing up her looks, her pretty dresses, and posing in suggestive outfits.

If Dawn never said her age and we didn't see her start off as a beginner, most people would have pegged her as a teen. I'm not saying May didn't act like a teen as well, but she wasn't as overly girly as Dawn or as much a um... show-off. I like Dawn's personality so it doesn't bother me, but you have to admit they go overboard with the girliness at times.

I don't like Hikari. At all. I mean, I don't outright hate her like I do with Shinji and Nozomi, but I really don't like her. It's obvious that they wanted to make her cute and likable, but it seems so damn forced.

Her Pokemon, however, are cool. I don't like the Piplup species, but Hikari's own Piplup is such an arrogant spoiled brat, I can't help but love him. Buneary's crush on Pikachu is amusing, Pachirisu is hilarious, and I've liked Ambipom every since that episode in AG with the crown. Buoysel was also a cool Pokemon, and I bet he'll continue being cool on Ash's team (and maybe he'll actually get a chance to evolve to Floatsel with Ash...).

Hikari's rivals FAIL at being interesting. Kengo is the only one of them I like, because he has a nice personality, seems to be slightly based on the D/P rival and actually antagonizes Hikari a bit. Also, his Pokemon are awesome. The other two, though... Fried Chicken Man is as dull as dull can be, and Nozomi is just a giant nosy bitch who can't keep her nose out of other people's business. And they listen to her. And it's frustrating.

And like Hikari's rivals fail as being interesting, Hikari utterly fails at contests. Since I dislike her, that makes me glee. And the fact that she fails at appeals makes me glee even more. It's mean of me, I know. But I never get to hate a main character enough to be happy when they lose (even when I "hated" Ash when I was younger and dumber, I felt horrible when he lost at the Pokemon League), so this is refreshing.

I love Nozomi, yes. I always have to be different from people, so yes, I actually adore Nozomi a lot. I love her attitude. I love how she's a bitch to people. I love her interactions with Hikari, and how she actually really wants to get into her skirt. I love her hair (short and messy, like mine.) Her style is amazing. Her attitude is just LOVE.

AND KENGO. Ugh ..that kid makes me want to puke. He looks like a freaking 5 year old. He's a little dorky boy with a crush on Hikari. And ugh.

I don't watch D/P anymore. But I've seen the first two REAL contests, and I can for sure say they are nowhere near as good as Haruka's. It seems like the writers were TRYING to spice up the contests by making everyone dress up, but it didn't work ..cause they just don't have that same vibe as Haruka's contests. Maybe it's just because contests were new then? Or Haruka just had better rivals and characters? IDK.
