Dawn's lovelife debate thread

Since there are a lot of Dawn ships out there, (Ash/Dawn, Dawn/Nozomi, Dawn/Shinji, and now Dawn/Kengo), I thought we could use a single thread to debate all future Dawn interactions with all four of these characters.

Instead of making seperate debate threads for each ship, I think it would be swell to take into consideration all of Dawn's potential shipping moments here and debate what they mean.

I'll start with this, the second infamous Ash/Dawn high five:

So far in both of Dawn's Contests, Ash has given her a high-five during the episode. One thing to note is he never used to do this thing with May, mostly because he helped look after her whereas with Dawn she's more on even ground as him, (despite being a newbie, oddly enough)

One thing to note is how Dawn sticks her leg up in the air after the slap, (thereby making you wonder what Pochama and Pachirisu are looking at), and Ash seems rather eager to give Dawn enthusiasm during each Contest.

What do you guys make of this? Has Ash finally found a competitive and arrogant yet kind-hearted Pokemon trainer on the same length as he is? Is this why he seems so enthusiastic about Dawn?
 
lol Dawn's Pokemon have wondering eyes. Ash is a good guy, and always supports his friends, so a high-five really isn't a big deal. He gives them to alot of his friends. We still need to see what happens in the future. Also, Brock looks like a little kid in that pic lol
 
XD The fact that an Ash/Dawn high-five is apparently "infamous" tells you everything you need to know about the kind of quality hints Pearlshipping has provided us. Enough said about that ship.

Dawn/Kengo is the only one that looks vaguely promising as a canon possibility, imo. The others are all on the Advance/Boulder/Gymshipping level. i.e. only worth analysing on any serious level if you're really really bored.
 
May gave Harley a high-five before... >__> And I remember a screenshot with Misty with her leg up like while getting hugged by Muk... :/ Actually... they seem to do that a lot with the girl characters... And Harley... XD
 
Eh, some people think Ash offering May ice-cream is a hint. I'm not too surprised.

Dawn also seems rather comfortable around Ash, she rests her hand on him for a duration in the Roserade ep:

Now I know this means nothing, but I do find it amusing that Dawn and Ash are so comfortable with each other so quickly. You don't see Dawn this close to Brock, do you?

Then again, it was the same thing with Ash/May but we all know how that turned out...
 
Those are just friendly gestures :p Not EVERY little friendly thing they do meand that they are crushing on eachother. *Sees Brock shake Ash's hand* OMG canon!! >.>
 
Two friends being that comfortable with each other would tend to suggest that they lack any romantic tension. :)

Seriously though? I am agreeing with everyone here -- with Ash and her "touching" means nothing. In fact, when you think about Ash's enthusiasm compared to his interactions with Misty and May, it's not that surprising. With Misty, he couldn't relate to her because she wasn't into battling the same way he was. May enjoyed battling eventually, but she was still a timid Coordinator and that took a while for everyone to start seeing as true ambition, including May herself. Hikari has been FROM THE BEGINNING full of ambition and spirit, as opposed to May, who wasn't. Ash might appreciate a female being very spirited like he was, but that doesn't me they want to shag.

Hikari's interactions with Shinji and Nozomi are more interesting to me, Nozomi especially. Since people can't help and ship the hero and heroine, I can't help but ship the rivals, who, actually, have already proven to show a different side of it from Drew/May and Ash/Gary. Even if I was on-board with Ash/Hikari, I'm still too unamused the fact they both main characters.
 
The thing I love about the ice cream hint is that he does exactly the same for Misty in The Fortune Hunters (only with a drink)... except he does that one on his own initiative while he is with Caroline/Brock/Max in the ice cream scene. So AdvanceShippers end up providing 'evidence' for PokéShipping.

Dawn seems to attract these poor quality hints more than most characters. It's just something about her personality, which we'll probably have to analyse a lot over the next saga of shipping debates.

Thank you for mentioning Harley and May high-fiving! I was going to bring that up. And lord knows those two aren't attracted to eachother.

Mm-hm.. at least they put a hand at a shoulder, lie in one's lap or rest in one's chest. ^_^
 
Jo-Jo, what were you saying about a lack of tension? Kengo was jealous of Ash apparently and in the newest episode:

Dawn's temper could probably put Misty to shame. :D
 
She has fangs and is quick to anger...which was a Misty staple. But then she also has a sweet and girly side...which is a May staple.

The only thing Dawn hasn't done is physically abuse Ash like Misty used to do. Maybe abusing men isn't her thing and she prefers to openly flirt with everybody instead?
