You know who Dawn's Piplup is, right? Well if you don't know,GET OUT OF HERE! But if you do know, listen up. At this point in the Advanced Generation of the anime, May got a Combusken. But Dawn's Piplup never evoled. It pretty obvious that it won't evolve. I not sure if I'm rushing Piplup's evolution to quickly, but I could kind of tell Dawn really wants a Prinplup. Will it ever evoleve? But can you really imagine Dawn;s Piplup becoming a Prinplup?

No, it's not evolving. Dawn DOES have an Everstone, so I guess she'll either throw it at Piplup when it evolves again or choose not to use it and let it evolve when or if she leaves.

I don't think Piplup will ever evolve.I saw somwhere a preview where Piplup is trying to stop itself from evolving.Maybe it will be like bulbasour in the Kanto region (1st gen.).Or Piplup followes Ash and Pikachus example...

agree, this has been discussed alot and piplup is like a second mascot to the franchise now.

I don't think it even want's to evovle. I mean, seriously, Piplup would of evolved by now.

Its not going to evolve as long as Dawn is a main character at least.

I don't get why this question is even asked anymore. It was obvious it wouldn't evolve even before the recent episode.

Adding to that, it's not like we don't see enough of it's evolved forms anyway. All things considered, Jun and Kengo are in the same boat as Hikari when it comes to penguin usage.

I think it will eventually. If it was planned to never evolve, a permanent solution would have been presented, and the Everstone is only temporary.

Piplup just isn't ready to evolve; plus he was worried he'd turn out like Mamoswine if he became Prinplup.

And since Dawn seems to really want a Prinplup, I can see Piplup evolving sometime in the future to make Dawn happy. Piplup isn't ready yet, and Dawn understands and respects that, which is why she gave him the Everstone to hold until he decides he's ready to evolve.

I don't think any Pokemon has decided to never evolve at all. Bulbasaur wanted to delay its evolution so it could learn its most powerful moves and get stronger faster, and both times Pikachu was presented with the option to evolve, he saw it as the easy way out, and wanted to prove he could be strong enough to beat Raichu without an added power boost.

They never came up and said, "We don't want to ever evolve!" It was more like, "We just don't want to evolve yet. We want to get stronger the way we are for now."

i disagree partly. i can buy the argument that piplup might eventually evolve to make dawn happy if she wants it to...but as for there being no permanent solution...there isnt one for pikachu so why should there be one for pip?

if it evolves it will be shortly before she leaves the series.

Pikachu needs a Thunder Stone to evolve. And since Team Rocket stole Ash's Thunderstone, Pikachu has no way to evolve unless Ash gets a new one, so Pikachu's evolution can't happen even if it WANTS to evolve.

I don't see Piplup evolving until Dawn's last episode, or maybe a couple of episodes before it. And if she makes a gen. V camo, who knows? It might even make it to Empoleon.

Temporary? Whenever it'll begin to evolve Dawn can use the stone and that's it
Not to mention Pip itself can stop to evolution but the stone just make it easier for it
What did you want them to do? It's the same as Pika...

Piplup just isn't ready to evolve; plus he was worried he'd turn out like Mamoswine if he became Prinplup.

And who are you to decide this for Pip? In the episode Pip said it does NOT want to evolve and it wants to continue protect Dawn as a Piplup like it did until now (Meowth translated it)

And since Dawn seems to really want a Prinplup

She got excited for the evolution but after Meowth translated Pip for her, she happily said she's sorry she didn't understand it before and that they'll continue to work together as they're or something like that
So no, Dawn doesn't really want it to evolve after she understood it

Not really, because as long as Pikachu never gets a Thunderstone, it will never evolve. Piplup is different, it has an item that controls it evolving or not.

Really, it's Piplup's choice. If it wants to stay a Piplup forever than it will, if it wants to evolve one day, it has that choice too.

Pochama chose not to evolve so that the goons who run the franchise can milk it's existence as a mascot and make more money from peguin merchandise. Until Pochama stops being a mascot, there's no chance (and even then...)

I don't think any Pokemon has decided to never evolve at all.

What about Nyasu? ;-)

You know, there's actually nothing wrong with a base form to stay as it is without evolving. As long as it gets strong.

An Everstone works only as long as the Pokemon is holding it. It's not a normal evolution stone; it doesn't stop working after one use.

In the episode Pip said it does NOT want to evolve and it wants to continue protect Dawn as a Piplup like it did until now (Meowth translated it)

One of the summaries on the Japanese site said Piplup was worried about evolving "due to what happened with Mamoswine", and that was part of the reason it tried to hold itself back. It's Piplup decision to not evolve NOW; there's plenty of time from now to the end of DP for Piplup to change its mind.

I'm not saying Piplup will evolve anytime soon; I don't expect to. It's just I don't see any advantage OR reason for it to stay a Piplup forever. It's not as if the anime and all Piplup merchandise would spontaneously combust and cease to exist if Dawn's Piplup evolved.

After Piplup's been as is for several series of the anime, then it'll be alright to say it won't ever evolve. Until then, the question's still up in the air as to whether it will or not. A Pokemon IS allowed to change its mind about what it wants, you know. I mean, look at Ambipom!

As to other questions...

What about Nyasu? ;-)
Meowth believes he used up too much experience learning to walk and talk, and will never evolve because of that.

Not to mention Ash's Bulbasaur...

Bulbasuars almost-evolution episode stated that Bulbasaur wanted to get stronger and learn better attacks faster, and that's why he held back on evolving.

I couldn't see the last part of DP122 (PM to help me...) but I'm pretty sure in the anime it isn't the same as in the games
Dawn didn't attach the stone to Pip, it'd be ridiculous to see it carry it on itself the whole time... she just keep it and will use it in case Pip try to evolve again to prevent Pip the pain of having to force itself to stop the evolution

One of the summaries on the Japanese site said Piplup was worried about evolving "due to what happened with Mamoswine", and that was part of the reason it tried to hold itself back.

They never said anything like that in the episode

It's Piplup decision to not evolve NOW; there's plenty of time from now to the end of DP for Piplup to change its mind.

With that logic, you might as well say Pika can change its mind and evolve some time in the future... and it's really stupid to say that

And even if Dawn/Pip leave eventually, I still don't think it'll ever evolve... it's really a mascot now, even if it leaves...

Bulbasuars almost-evolution episode stated that Bulbasaur wanted to get stronger and learn better attacks faster, and that's why he held back on evolving.

What? it'll get stronger and learn better attacks faster without evolving? that desn't really makes sense and I don't remember they ever said such thing in the Bulba ep (but I didn't watch it in years so....)

Yeah, it's best to have a stone; wasn't Piplup using the evolution energy for Bide? I think that's what was hurting him.

They never said anything like that in the episode

I know, but a summary mentioned it, so it's legit in some way. I think it's...touching, for lack of a better word, that Piplup stopped himself from evolving because he was worried about Dawn.

With that logic, you might as well say Pika can change its mind and evolve some time in the future... and it's really stupid to say that

But Pikachu never refused to evolve just for the sake of doing so; both times he just wanted to show that he could beat Raichu without getting a power boost. ANd Ash did think Pikachu would change his mind later, which is why he kept the Thunderstone. Of course, Team Rocket made off with it, but still the fact that Ash kept it shows that he knew Pikachu never refused to evolve into Raichu at all.

It's the same reason Pika won't evolve
And even if Dawn/Pip leave eventually, I still don't think it'll ever evolve... it's really a mascot now, even if it leaves...

True, but if it leaves, mascot or not, I don't see why it would remain Piplup when it's no longer on the main cast...

What? it'll get stronger and learn better attacks faster without evolving? that desn't really makes sense and I don't remember they ever said such thing in the Bulba ep (but I didn't watch it in years so....)

Yeah, that's how it works. Brock even mentioned in that episode that Bulbasaur learned Solar Beam much earlier than it would have if it evolved into Ivysaur. Of course, there are some attacks a Pokemon can't learn unless it evolves (touched on in the most recent Pikachu vs Raichu ep)but unevolved Pokemon tend to grow faster than evolved ones. Mainly in the games, but it has been referred to in the anime a lot.

That's so backwards. Pikachu has an item that controls its evolution, a Thunderstone. Pikachu had the choice to evolve aswell, Ash kept the stone up until Team Rocket took it away from them and its obvious its chosen to stay as a Pikachu forever. The difference is that Pikachu doesn't need an item to continuously supress its evolution, it needs one to start it.
