Hi everyone,

First of all, I would like to say that I'm glad to be part of Bulbagarden Forums.

But now for my main reason to write this post. I've been trying to breed my Togepi (male, from Japan) with my Ditto (from my own game, English language, from the Netherlands). However, the day care man tells me that 'they prefer to play with other Pokémon', meaning that they won't produce an egg. Why is this? Anyone, please tell me!
In the meantime, I'll be searching the GTS for a female Togepi, but I still want to know the answer to my day care mystery.

Thanks in advance,

Paleo

Hello, and welcome to the forums!

To answer your question, Togepi cannot breed because it's considered a "baby Pokemon" by the game. In order to breed for Togepi, you'll have to evolve it into a Togetic, then put it back in the day care with your ditto. The same goes for other baby pokemon like Smoochum, Pichu, Azurill, and the like.

EDIT: Bulbapedia has a whole article on baby Pokemon here.

Hello, welcome to BMGf. In the future, I might suggest posting questions like that in any of the Simple Questions threads located in X/Y and Pokemon Video Games. Those threads are just for questions and we ask that you ask questions concerning game help there in the future. Make sure you post in the right one for the game you're playing. There's one for Gen 6, gen 5 qnd Gens 1-4. If you have any questions about the forums, feel free to ask me or any other moderator.

Have a great time here.

Welcome to the forum, Paleo! Yeah.. you sadly can't breed baby Pokemon but that's nothing a simple evolution can't fix, haha. Too bad friendship evolutions can be a little tedious and time-consuming to obtain. ;< But either way, I do hope you'll enjoy everything here on Bulbagarden forums. We're a nice bunch and are happy to have you! :)

Thanks for the answers, people! Of course it's a baby Pokémon - why didn't I think of that?
Oh, and next time, I will post on the simple questions thread, thanks for the tip.
