I get hungry a lot, but we all do. I'm usually awake all night and the time flies by super fast so I usually get really hungry. I have no access to my fridge, and I absolutely refuse to eat processed snacks loaded with sodium and preservatives at night because that would make me feel gross. :/

What do you eat to keep yourself full for long periods of time when you have no access to your own kitchen? I am not on any real diet by the way.. but I just try my best to cut down on how much junk I eat. I have a tendency to overeat certain foods..

Eat liberally during the day, and/or prepare food you can bring with you to your room. In your case, wanting to avoid junk and processed snacks, your best bet is fruits/vegetables. Apples and pears, grapes or rasins, cantaloupe or watermelon. Peeled or not, sliced or whole, up to you. That should help. ^-^

As stated above, fruits, nuts and veggies are the way to go. If you have access to a Trader Joe's, they have a wide selection of unprocessed snacks. Consider options like dried fruit to keep your sweet tooth going. And definitely avoid sugary drinks, stick to water at all times.

If possible, consider getting a mini-fridge, microwave and tea pot. Mini-fridge so that you can always have fresh, cold fruit and veggies and you can have something like Greek Yogurt, canned fruit, etc. The microwave is there is so you can heat up food like eggs (There are way too many microwave only recipes). The kettle or tea pot can be used for tea or coffee or whatever requires boiling water like soups.

I was reading an interesting article earlier that was saying how eating fruits can actually make you hungrier, because the fructose triggers your stomach to crave more food, which I thought was both interesting and odd. You may want to stay away from fruits at night, then.

I'd suggest going for a small bowl of peanuts or almonds (or any kind of nut, really) with lots of water. It's quite filling despite being a small portion, plus you don't need to store them in a fridge or anything.

A good sandwich will last you a long time thanks to all those carbs in the bread. Healthy if you stuff it with the right filling and easily preserved. If you want simplicity few things are more effective than good ol PB and J.

Oh gosh that's crazy! I know that high fructose corn syrup makes you hungrier but I didn't know that fructose was the culprit! o_o

I do like PB&J but I need to get more peanut butter :p

I like to chew gum when I have to go long periods without food. It gives me something to concentrate on instead of my hunger. Although I have had people tell me on more then one occasion that gum just makes you feel hungrier.

If I do have access to some kind of snack plain almonds and cashews work really well. Good for you and you don't need very much to feel full.
