This is topic for DearS, the manga and anime. I like it alot <3 My favorite character is Nia. Are there any other fans of this series on here?

I love Ren and Takaya.

I didn't like it, honestly. It was pretty much a crappier version of Chobits with bigger boobs.

Now, I haven't watched Chobits, but isn't Chii a robot? That's a lot different than an alien.

And that is like saying "Pokemon is a crappier version of Digimon." Well they both involve cute lil critters, but otherwise they're like chalk and cheese in my opinion.

• Hideki/Takeya is a poor student who doesn't know much about Persocoms/DearS.
• Hideki/Takeya has a friend who helps him learn more about Persocoms/DearS.
• Chii/Ren is an incomplete Persocom/DearS.
• Chii/Ren is a legendary Persocom/DearS with special abilities.
• There is a group that is trying to separate Chii/Ren from Hideki/Takeya.
• Chii/Ren falls in love with her owner/master.
• When her owner/master returns those feelings of love, Chii/Ren releases a special power that grants all other Persocoms/DearS a new ability.

That they replaced the robots with aliens means nothing. The fact of the matter is that when you break it down, they're essentially the same thing.

The biggest difference between the two? Chobits doesn't need to use fan-service to make up for a crappy story and annoying characters.

I don't really care, I'll leave this one as a draw.

The rest, however, have been defeated. Mostly by the fact that they aren't exclusive to Chobits and could even be used against Chobits in the same way. Also, I can understand you criticizing, as long as you keep it polite, but you knew this was a DearS fan thread, and you went and called it crappy and annoying. I would be pleased if you would apoligize.

Why should I apologize? The original post says "This is topic for DearS, the manga and anime." It does not say "This is a topic for people who have nice things to say about DearS." Therefor, by giving my honest opinion, I have done nothing wrong. If anything, you should be apologizing to me for criticizing my opinion. =/

So basically you're just mad because I trumped your opinion that DearS is the same as Chobits. Also, I did not put a list of rules for this discussion because I thought we could all be mature and decent. If you had said that you disliked DearS, I am fine with that. I am fine with you giving the reasons why you do not like DearS. I do not appreciate kindergarten antics like "DearS sucks." well that's nice, but who cares? Take it back to Kindergarten unless you want to have a reasonable discussion.

And if you are going to label something crappy or annoying, please elaborate on your reasons for coming to that conclusion. Otherwise, I won't have it.

And usually I don't go into topics about things I dislike to pick fights about it. And you could easily guess this was a fan thread, since it said

"Are there any other fans of this series on here?" Duh. Now apologize, or get out of the thread.

Wow...that didn't help you at all.

Anyway, I've seen and read a bit on DearS and felt it really similar to Chobits myself. But nonetheless, the designs are cute like the other titles by Peach-Pit.

I'm gonna be honest with you, that made me lol quite hard, but I'll humor you.

No, there is no cat girl in Chobits, however most of the Persocoms in Chobits have special "ear" pieces.

And Chobits is done by clamp. A good chunk of the characters can be considered "emo" in one way or another. (And to be completely honest, I don't recall there being a "weird emo dude" in DearS.)

No, you didn't. You stated that DearS is too similiar to Chobits. That is a reason for you to dislike DearS, but it does not explain why you think DearS is annoying or crappy.

I find a lot of magical girl shoujo anime to be too similiar to each other, so I don't watch it. I personally don't like the genre. That doesn't mean I find them to be "crappy" or "annoying." I don't read romance novels for the same above reasons. That doesn't make them "crappy" that just means I don't enjoy reading them.

Yes, you did not want to pick a fight. Yet you posted deliberately offensive and insulting things. You did not want to debate over the merits of DearS, you did not come in here with an open mind or make persuasive attempts. You just wanted to pick a fight with DearS fans.

Frankly I haven't found a single manga by Clamp that I like. Unless that one is by them... but honestly I don't care. A lot of people like them. Good for them. I'll stick to Peach-pit myself. <3 Nia. Rozen Maiden isn't that bad either. I haven't read the whole series yet *is only up to book 4*

i got the first volume of dears because there was nothing else to buy and it was pretty enjoyable, tho i am not into these kind of series (i only liked few ecchi like golden boy).
i did find that it had certain parts that are used in many other manga (no specific, just the "guy finds a mystery girl" begining at least) but its a fun way to start a story tho, even if its used a lot
the art is very cute too

It gets better in the later volumes. I wouldn't call it ecchi though. I mean it just shows a few boobs.

Rozen Maiden's much closer to Chobits than DearS, and NO FANSERVICE (unless you count bloomers). But I suppose that's a matter of preference...


If you really want a "Chobits ripoff", I'd point you in the direction of Yu Watase's Absolute Boyfriend, which is essentially reverse-gender Chobits, complete with the wacky humor. It's a good Chobits ripoff, though (I've only read vol.1 of the manga, so take it with a grain of salt.)

Absolute Boyfriend is rather more...erm...how should you say...well it's not as in-depth compared to Chobits. It does lean towards so a bit in the end but I don't want to spoil anything.
