Anyone else watching this? I just started watching it on Funimation's website and it's pretty damn good so far. Very disturbing though xD

I'm enjoying it, too. I've heard of myths saying people get judged after death, but I never expected this anime to show a rather unique way to judge people lol.

I wonder what happened to Kurokami Onna when she was alive. From what I can assume she seems to be the character from the book that appears occasionally in the series

Madhouse is Love, Madhouse is Life.

I love Death Parade! The new episode
absolutely shattered my heart.
Madhouse is just so good with psychological anime.

Somewhat ironically this series is the shining light in what is otherwise a disappointing adaptation-and-sequel filled season. It becomes even more impressive when you realize Tachikawa, a relative newbie in the business, handles the majority of the script & storyboards himself.

I can't say I pegged the exact nature of the deaths of Tatsumi & Shimada but Keiji Fujiwara's voice was an immediate warning that something was off.

If there was ever a person I would not want to give me a breaking speech, it's FujiKei.

Now we wait to see if Nona's plans for Decim after he has apparently been "kick-started" by Nona's pleas.

This show is amazing. I know it's going to end in 2 more episodes, but already I'm wanting more.

Great music, good cast, interesting setup.
That Opening and Ending, I just love them both so much.
The mysteries linger still...........what is to come seems very interesting.

So it looks like we were meant to come to the conclusion that the arbitration system was inherently flawed just as Decim has. Now it remains to be seen if Nona's further plans can come to fruition in time for Occulus to be unable to stop them. I think it's clear that Onna will be key for both, so it's no surprise that the mysteries surrounding her circumstance are now unravelling
at the apparent cost of her very being. Even without Occulus demonstrating why he is "the closest to God" it's clear that time is running out for Nona, Decim, Ginti & Chiyuki. I think it's safe to assume that the ice skates play a part in Chiyuki's death and I wouldn't be surprised to find out that Chavvot died in an ice-skating related accident as well.

Also here's a downer if you haven't already noticed it:
Sachiko's husband is the old man from Death Billiards. We know that she went to reincarnation and from the pilot he almost certainly sent himself to the Void, so there's no chance of them seeing each other again. Puts a sombre note on having lived "a fulfilled life"

YES LOL.

I was watching it with my friend and when we saw that we just cracked up while covering our mouths(we were watching it at the school library).

Yes yes, I saw it. An amusing turn of events given that both he & Harada are voiced by Mamoru Miyano, and both series are from Madhouse. Just to add to the hilariously appropriate choice, in an earlier episode I remember someone saying that there had been too many deaths recently...

As for the episode proper, we're finally getting down to business. I think Ginti's actions have shown beyond doubt that he is not the arbiter that Nona was hoping for. Her plans have clearly not worked with him because he lacks the ability or will to explore human experiences. I've seen people say that he tricked Mayu, but deep down I think she knew that
Harada was going to be condemned anyway. All that mattered to her was being with him even if it meant falling into oblivion, so she pushed the button to send not-Light to the void and therefore deliberately failed Ginti's perverse judgement. This would also tie in neatly with Machiko deliberately condemning herself (episode 1/2) so that Takashi would be saved, and it shows the contract between how Ginti & Decim handle their respective failures.

If I am ever asked to explain existential despair to somebody I'm going to show them Onna's flashback sequence from this episode. Although I still have my problems with it because
I cannot stop myself making the comparison between Chiyuki's suicide and Yosuke's, this was an excellent way of summing up the apparent futility of existence someone feels when they have given up all hope. I am still of the opinion that suicide is wrong and this story didn't change my mind, but the point was put across very well with truly excellent composition and animation (Tachikawa Yuzuru, you're going to go far in this business). Just to drive the point home it was all capped off by Decim's child-like curiosity and lack of understanding - he may not ever be able know what it feels like, but he so desperately wants to know in order to honour those who have lived their lives like he cannot. Another point of cohesiveness - Chiyuki cut her wrists in killing herself. Which part of her mannequin body first started to flake?

Madhouse, you can make all the terrible LN adaptations you like if you keep giving us series like Parasyte, Chihayafuru, Hunter X Hunter and this.

I can't wait for this Friday to watch the last episode! I thought that there was only going to be eleven episodes

On an unrelated note I Got my anime club to watch the first episode and seeing people go blind into this show is great, even if they did make a lot of Saw jokes. I already knew about the dead things, so it wasn't as fun for me. Also this show has one of the best examples of a bait and switch opening that I have ever seen.

You're going to like it I can guarantee that.

There were a couple of things that didn't sit well with me like
the non-conclusion to Nona & Occulus' power plays which I suppose could be interpreted as deliberately open-ended for a sequel but they wrapped things up with Decim & Chiyuki very well
and
broadly brushing over the similarities between Chiyuki's suicide and Yosuke's - we're supposed to see the former as a desperate act of isolation and the latter as a selfish petulant act but I'm still not buying it
but it gave a stunning conclusion to the relationship between the lead pair. At the same time there was a poignant reminder of the other side of the coin with
Ginti all alone - even without Memine - if not for his kokeshi dolls, of which a new one in Mayu's image has been added. This was a really good contrast to Decim's mannequins; just as Ginti dismisses the nuances of the souls that pass through his bar his dolls are mere caricatures compared to Decim's eerily lifelike mannequins made to honour his guests as best as he can.

A brilliant series that gives me hope that all is not lost in an industry that is increasingly appealing to the lowest common denominator.

How it ended, just wow. That was amazing, every single moment. Just pulled at all my heart strings.

I don't know if it's possible, but I want more, this is some good stuff. I want to know more about the world, how these arbiters develop with all the stuff that has happened. This is just a great series.

Well the power play between Nona & Occulus wasn't adequately concluded there's scope for a sequel from a plot point of view. But I find it hard to believe that such a strong core relationship can be built up again without being too derivative of what we have already seen. Bringing Decim back and making him the sole PoV character would be brave because even though we know he is moving towards embracing human empathy, if it isn't a slow and gradual process it won't compare favourably to what we've seen already (which was excellent).

I suppose it depends on whether Yuzuru gets more-or-less complete control as he did with Parade and Billiards - I can definitely see Madhouse fighting his corner, but sadly this is going to be a domestic flop so I don't think anyone from outside is going to bring the required resources. It could all be financed in-house if One Punch Man sells anywhere nearly as well as predicted but that puts any possible DP sequel at summer 2016 at the earliest.
