The reason I am making this thread is because as of the latest episode of Digimon Xros Wars
Deckerdramon is dead because refused to fight Kiriha. May that digital "Robo-Dile" rest in peace. The Blue Flare Army lost a powerful fighter whom we barely got to see much.

Any other tragic deaths of your favorite characters in anime/manga?

Kamina from Gurren Lagann.

Oh, and pretty much every single character in Neon Genesis Evangelion. In the movie, third impact happens and everyone dies if they didn't die due to something else.

Madoka from "Puella Magi Madoka Magica", well, she doesn't exactly die but she doesn't exist anymore on Earth and nobody remembers her.

I hope that counts, it was so bitter like the death though. :|

From FMA:
Maes Hughes dying in FMA, either series. Both made me tear up.
Then in Brotherhood, when Al sacrificed himself to give Ed his arm back.
Also Envy... for something so ugly, once Ed pointed his true nature he didn't seem so bad.

Any surprise that it's Clannad?

Furukawa Okazaki Nagisa, and then her daughter, Okazaki Ushio]

And Digimon deaths ALWAYS suck
* Angemon from 01
* WORMMON from 01 ;____________;
* Mummymon and Arachnemon (didn't care that much about BWGreymon...)
* LEOMON in 03
* Kouichi in 04...
* BantyoLeomon in 05/Piyomon...
* Deckerdramon in 06 asldkfssf

FMA deaths
* Hughes
* Greed ;_;
* Everyone in chapter 104 >___________>

Oh god, where to begin. How about ALL MY FAVORITE CHARACTERS? ;_; (well, not really, but...it happens)
Kamina from Gurren Lagann.

^Yes, this. It's from Gurren Lagann people, so don't spoil yourselves if you never saw it. It's one of the most touching scenes in the series and serves as a catalyst for basically everything that follows....RIP.

FMA:
Everyone should be saying this: Hughes, duh ;_;

Naruto:
~Deidara
~Asuma
~Itachi
~JIRAIYA!!! (god, it wasn't that sad when it first happened, but when Naruto and Tsunade started to cry over him...it really broke my heart)
~Sasuke's personality

Code Geass
~Clovis (because I thought he could have been good friends with Lelouch >_>)
~Euphemia (just because I felt sorry for Suzaku)
~Rolo (*sniffle* hated him until his death, that little bastard ;_;)
Lelouch. Damn touching ending.

i think sasori. how does sakura and chiyo dodge 100 poison needles. WITH THEIR EYES CLOSED! then he let himself die.

Black Cat:
Saya.
Creed was so heartless...Saya and Train's relationship was a beautiful thing, but obsessive-psycho saw it as a bad thing, so it had to go. Saya could have easily escaped, but she chose the safety of the nearby children over her own life.

Code Geass:
Freakin' Lelouch!
What made this incredibly tragic, is that it was the only way that Lelouch could have achieved his goal - making a world where his sister can live in, is to deprive her of her brother, and deprive him a way of seeing what his world will become; forever being remembered as a tyrant rather than a saviour.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood:
- Maes Hughes.
It was so unexpected...and his funeral was so nerve wracking!
- Hohenheim.
Having lived the majority of life hating his immortality; especially considering what it cost him. The one moment he wishes he could keep on living, to see his sons grow up...he dies. To be honest, Hohenheim as a whole really hit me as a character, due to his relationship with Al being similar to me and my dad (while my younger brother is more like Ed).
- Gluttony.
What's the best way to show how evil the homunculi are? By having them devour each other. Pride was always the homunculus that creeped me out the most, but seeing him devour Gluttony was...dramatic. Gluttony's pleas made me feel sorry for the homunculus.
- Envy.
Not dramatic in the sad sense, but dramatic in the sheer spectacularity of it. Mustang finally finds Hughes' killer and goes against loads of other shonen anime - he doesn't Envy a chance to finish a sentance, or even get up. It's an onslaught of rage; an explosion of Roy's anger and sadness in one fiery package. Envy pleading for mercy at the end really shows how pathetic the situation was.

Naruto:
- Kakashi.
Okay, he was brought back to life, but that doesn't make his death any less dramatic. Using the last of his life energy to ensure that the younger generation could pass on intel; and his last thoughts focusing on how he couldn't keep his promise to Obito; that he couldn't protect Rin.

- Jiraiya.
Well, it wasn't Jiraiya's death itself that was really dramatic; but it's the way it affected Naruto, and has motivated him since.

Elfen Lied:
Kurama and Mariko.
Okay, the scene that led up to this is probably one of my favourite in anime ever. Kurama saying how he had to kill so many other people's children, but he saved his own, and how he shouldn't have had the right to do that...boy it was a tear jerker.

Basically, it's mostly the deaths that involve dying for someone else's sake that really get to me.

Madoka:
Mami... completely changed how the series moved after that point as well as literally shocking me for a day afterwards.

FMA:
Maes of course
Kimbley... He was my favorite character in the whole of the series and was just so bad ass in Brotherhood.
Nina... I still get teary eyed because of her...

Pokemon:
Misty
because it counts as a death

When did she die? D:

Edward Elric(First series)
Maes Hughes
Itachi Uchiha
Jiraiya
Son Goku during the Cell games.

When she left the show, they act like she never exsisted except for a reference in the Jirachi movie and in her guest appearance in Hoenn.

Well, I guess that makes sense.

When Megatron dies in Transformers 3. Dunno if counts but he was my favorite character from childhood.

When Grimmjow dies in bleach. He was my favorite character I actually kind of wanted Ichigo to lose that fight.

-Madam Red from Black Butler. I don't know. It just made me tear up so bad Dx
-Sora from Kitchen Princess, what the fuck?! I check out this manga, thinking it'll be all retarded with cakes and rainbows and shit, but instead the love interest dies (And doesn't come back by some sort of miracle, much to my surprise), the 'mean girl' starts dying of starvation and the main character is basically a two-timing bitch?! So depressing... ;_;

Death Note
Soichiro Yagami's death was particularly tragic, considering that he died not knowing that Light was Kira (due to Light relinquishing the Death Note, thus Soichiro saw light's lifespan).
Mello - his death laid the foundations for Near's victory.

Death Note
L - It's not L's death itself that was emotional, but Light's smirk that freaked me out.
Light - I totally went OMG!!! at the final episode when Ryuk wrote down his name on the Note.
Digimon
There are too many deaths to count, so I'll just say the ones that moved me the most.
02 - Wormmon - Gosh, I like how that death affected Ken.
04 - Kouichi - I cried so hard when he died. I also cried when he was brought back to life.
Naruto
Itachi - I went... NOOOOOOOOOOO!!
Deidara - *sob sob* my fav character...
Jiraiya - It wasn't his death, nor Naruto's reaction that affected me, but Tsunade's tears as she remembered her younger days with Jiraiya.
Pokemon
Movie 08 - Sir Aaron and Lucario - probably the most noble deaths of all time. And they even get to be together in the afterlife.
Ao no Exorcist
Shiro - I usually don't like old anime characters, but this guy really rocked. It was sad to see him die in, what, two episodes since the anime started?

Bleach has many deaths I really didn't like...and most are my favorite characters.

Ulquiorra Cifer, Grimmjow, Coyote Starrk from Bleach.

Especially Ulquiorra: was an amazing character, melancholic, comes from the spanish-like Espada, favorite design, top favorite character, and the fact he's a Murcielago. My favorite character.
