Recently on the history channel there was a show about prophecy & how the Mayan calander predicts that the world will end December 21, 2012. On that date supposedly, our Earth will align with the center of the Milky Way Galaxy resulting in a shift of the Earth's magnetic poles. This shift in the magnetic poles will apparently cause the oceans to shift, covering parts of several continents. I'm not going to worry about it because if such a disaster occurs, I'd rather go fast than suffer!!

Well, the Mayans did not predict the end of the world, but rather the coming of a new age. We are currently in the Age of Aquarius, but after that date, we will enter a new age. It's actually quite cool in my opinion :3.

thank you, this is what I've been trying to explain to people.
I think its Pisces.

And also they said the sun and the moon warriors were going to fight, or something.

Does this really deserve to be in "the real world?" It isn't actually, you know, going to happen.

Unless Palin gets elected.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who watches history channel, I'm even 14. I watch it just for fun.

I understand that science believes this, and that the Institute For Human Continuity exists for that reason, but I'm not about to believe the end of the world. I want to accomplish my goals, whether I go to Heaven or not.

I find it interesting too, like the Object X stuff. I've seen the movie that was called "Zeitgeist (Something)." I find it all really interesting, but it makes me feel more like shit than I have ever felt in my entire life.

Impossible. The alignment of the Earth with the Milky Ways has no bearing on the Earth's magnetic field, and besides which, shifts of the magnetic field take place over the course of hundreds of thousands of years, not seconds or minutes. When the next eventual shift does occur (which we are actually overdue for I believe), it won't even have any effect on the oceans. What it will affect is the atmosphere (aurora borealis in the southern hemisphere instead of teh north, and vice versa), the migratory patterns of species that navigate using the magnetic field (such as whales and birds) and compasses. And the shift takes place so slowly that the animals will in all likelihood not be affected all that much.

(Hopes his memory of high school geography is correct)

Meh, sounds like a cool way to die. I'm good.

Best death evah! End of the world by water! >=D

If the world is ever gonna end, I don't want it to because when I grow up I wanna experience more things in life and I don't wanna die by giant sock monkeys.:(

And if the world is gonna end their has to be some scientific reason on how it will end. When people say the worlds gonna end on *insert year* then their has to be a reason to it ending.

Its too soon for the world to end for me!!!

I'm looking forward to it. Totally going to party it up. I mean, if it is the end, might as well go out with a bang. And if it isn't, well, then I threw an awesome party. :p

Unless Palin gets elected.
Win.

How can people look forward to death? I'm not afraid of death, but I don't want to die...

See, I don't see it as looking forward to my impending doom or whatever. I see it as looking forward to finding out the truth behind all these ancient prophetic shenanigans. Which I'm admittedly quite excited about. :p

Me neither. But if it's destiny, then... yeah.

We'll probably survive.

Probably.

Probably, well, most likely, won't, if the world does end. If it does, what's the point of knowing? A then-pointless feeling of security for knowing the answers to the prophecies?
