I purchased Platinum yesterday, and due to my naming policies for games, I checked the manual and the Wiki.

Like Ruby and Sapphire before it, Platinum seems to have story/game based names, but they are unused in the default listings.

The manual refers to Lucas as Plato(From PLATinum) and Dawn as Tina(Likely from GiraTINA).

Would this be worth putting in the trivia section or main articles for either Platinum, Lucas or/and Dawn?

Hrm. There is a mention of "Plato" on the page, but for some reason, it doesn't seem to be visible. It's in the editing code, but I can't find it when I view the page.

Does Tina appear in the defaults? I don't have my manual with me so I can't check myself...

I am not sure, I realy haven't the time to check, it keeps giving me Kelly and Mari.

In the manual, in the communication section it refers to a character(I do not recognise the sprite and have never gone online with my DS) named Tina where the D/P manuals refer to Pearl and Diamond respectivly.

The name Tina is also the most used in the manual for a trade partner, in mail and poffins aswell.

Plato is a male default name.

Along with Andy, Todd, Brad, Chris, Nic, Mark, Ash, Darrell, and Duncan, plus presumably more.

The fact that the name lists are now combined by Generation (and don't include Platinum's) is ridiculous and should be separated again.

Only reason Pt's not been included is because we haven't taken the list from the games yet.

As for the list itself, we have to think of a good way to show it...

Oh I get that. I just find it ridiculous we've had the game for over a month, tearing it apart for everything and anything we don't have, and no one's added the player name list.

Well, back at the bottom, for one. Or since those lists can get long for some characters, plus the different languages, why not go for ordinary tables in a sub-article? If you can throw Gen movesets into a sub article, names can go too. Besides, those name-lists for the player characters can get outrageously long, considering how many defaults they seem to give nowadays.

sorry but weve been busy updating other, more important things, like Pokemon locations, Pokedex entries, gym teams, translated names, Battle Fronteir information and other things associated with the Pt update phase including updating all/most templates and sections of pages.

but perhaps im overreacting. im sure we can find some time to get the generic trainer names (that no one ever uses) and put them on the page.

Everyone's drooling over HGSS now, barely any attention's being paid to Platinum stuff on the wiki.

Anyway, check this out:

As you can see, "Plato" is in a seperate table than the other names. This is apparently keeping it from showing up on Lucas's page. Should I include it in the same table as the others, or what?

Because one list won't take half an hour out of someone's life to transcribe, as opposed to the hours and hours it takes for all that, and the mind-numbing it causes.

There's tons of information a lot of B'Pedia users /don't/ care about that others put hours into sussing out. That isn't a reason to assume it shouldn't be there because other!other users don't care.

Looks like someone was playing with a new template format, which isn't too hard on the eyes. It's compact enough, but...nah, I can complain that the names don't line up, but that's just my own aesthetics. I think I'd be the only one anal about symmetry of it. Add the other languages in that format and you got a DPPt character template.

And HGSS isn't revealing much information yet anyway. So if they're distracted by it, it likely means no one's doing anything but arguing over how the limited information should be worded, why is Kris not there, and basically having fangasms when there's other work to be done. But they are working, so HGSS isn't the excuse. There's really no excuse except, "We forgot to check" and that's forgivable, y'know?

well, while some of us take care of the more important issues, others can take care of the lesser important issues. if you have the game, you could just as easily do it yourself.

That's because I hid it. That's commented out, see? The other table is too. The one that's there is unhidden.

Oh. NOW I see. So should I uncomment it, then? Replace the existing one with the hidden one, that is.

I'd suggest getting all the defaults first... and I wanted to revamp the style somewhat, too...
