Dengeki Pikachu - Viz vs. Chuang Yi

So a visitor to my site had a question that I didn't know the answer to, so I thought I'd ask you guys.

You all know how Ono Toshihiro's Dengeki Pikachuu manga was heavily edited when it was released by Viz, right? Well, the question is...does the Chuang Yi version of the manga have those same edits? Or is the whole thing uncensored?

I would dare to say that the Chuang Yi version would *probably* have the same edits the Japanese collected volumes had rather than the unedited single story versions.

But that's just guessing.

Chuang Yi published Viz's version of Special until they ran out of already-translated volumes, so my guess would be they did the same with Dengeki. Why hire translators and spend time retranslating everything when there's already an English version out there? They probably didn't even know the Viz version had been censored in the first place.

But there's two Viz versions. The single issues had May's enormous boobs, for instance, but those were taken out for the collected volumes.

So even that scenario would depend on which version CY got.

Yeah, it's really weird with that series. There's the original, which ran in some magazine (maybe CoroCoro, I think), then they edited it in Japan to be in bound volumes, and that's what Viz used as their unedited version, and then edited it some more for *their* bound volumes. So when someone speaks of the "unedited version", it's important to find out which one they mean by that.

Also...the Japanese tankouban I have are all uncensored. I haven't seen any edited Japanese volumes anywhere.

And your book has the originals of these?

I forgot that they gave Gary's sister the same name as the RS heroine...

Also...I don't have my books with me (they're in storage back in the States), so I can't check.

Moreover they gave the RS heroine the same name as Gary's sister, since she was there first.

And then they renamed Gary's sister Daisy, which was *also* already taken, at least in the anime.

Okay, I gotta ask: Out of the three scans in your pic, Blackjack, where is that first one from? XD It looks somewhat familiar, and yet I don't remember it in Dengeki Pikachu. Is it from one of Ono's other/hentai works or was there a scene removed from Dengeki?

Also... anyone want to translate what the girl in the second scan's saying? Guess an edit explains why that panel always seemed so oddly empty.

It's from the Eevee chapter of Dengeki - the girl is Kasumi. Viz cut it completely from their release, I believe.
