It's been an issue for a while in both Bulbapedia and Wikipedia. I'm engaging in a little battle with someone who insists that Volkner's Japanese name is Denzi, while I think it's definitely Denji.

I mean... the word is "denji". And I don't even think there's a "zi" sound in Japanese. "Ji" replaces it in the Za-Zi-Zu-Ze-Zo... "group" thingy. It's Denji.

Please tell me I'm right. I'm right, right? Right?

Never seen Denzi before now, and I've been to SEVERAL sites. He's Denji.

According to the official Japanese sticker book, he's Denzi. At least that's what I read on his Bulbapedia talk page.

I saw an official image where his romanized name was "Denzi."

Remember, they sometimes screw up their Romanizations. Prasle, anyone? It's still official as Denzi, even though it's pronounced Denji.

Official romanization can be a bit of a potluck. For instance, the katakana for this definately say "Juuranger" (Or "Juu-Renjaa" if you want to be super-accurate), but it's officially transliterated as "Zyuranger" because they wanted to use the "cool" letter Z. It's much like the whole R/L thing.

Yes.

It's from sticker book, which had all names romanized.

Grrr, I hate official romanisations. They are often screwed up and sometimes incorrect (like Pochama). But of course they are better than Merrick's (Kaburiasu, Enpeturo, Neorantu etc.)

I like my own ones, they are correct and they keep intended meaning.

Poor romanization is not as bad as when they romanize a pokémon's name, without making it obvious. It was only recently I realised that Suicune is actually 1 letter (the c should be a k, no e on the end either) away from the Japanese spelling. But what Nintendo forgot is you don't pronounce it the same in both languages! Seriously, "Suic" looks so much like Suicide that you can't help but pronounce that 'c' as and 's'...
