Diamond, Pearl anime series has become unpredictable: Fans should be grateful for surprises

With a new main capture this week, it has become apparent that Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl is no longer following the formulas of past series constructions. Fans who complain about the predictability of the series may no longer have the justification to do so. Pokémon have been traded, released and given vibrant, unique personalities. The main characters don't always win, and it often takes several tries to finally do so. Read on for more, including major spoilers for the series.

I'm surprised an article even has to be made to this effect, but it is rather monumental to see the anime have more twists than my sister's hair.
 
It's really nice to see all the twist and turns we've getting this saga. We sure have come a long way since Johto, haven't we?

This is the writers third "three-year" region, so they're simply building up upon what they learned after doing Johto and then AG...seeing what worked and what didn't work and continuing from there.

If there is any area of D/P that isn't that great, it's Dawn's rivals. She's been stuck with the least interesting rivals we've seen in the series, and they've been getting an awful lot of hate. The Contest dynamic simply isn't that good this gen due to the less than stellar rivals this time, but they're making up for it with the plot twists of Dawn losing the appeals round and Jessie winning a ribbon finally, at least.
 
Very, very nice article, Argy. Though I suspect "Empericism" may be too posh a word for this crowd. :p
 
Great article! It's very well written (although I disagree with the part that says Ash might beat Cynthia, He is years away from even standing a slight chance against her!)
