Since the thread on the whole PUSA thing was being hijacked by talk of the possible events of D/P, I figured I'd start a thread where we could post predictions and actually have them *not* be spam. Have at it.

Ash goes there.

Ash gets eight badges.

Ash loses the league.

Some new feature in the game will be turned into a quest for another character to do - probably Max or someone new.

It's hard to make predictions when we know so little about the game...

Would it be difficult/unrealistic/impossible to have a show focusing on two different groups - one lead by Ash and one lead by May? I think that would be interesting...

As for cast changes, I want to see more than one girl in the group. Whether the other girl is Misty or someone else, though, I don't know.

Interesting maybe, but I really couldn't see it working. Besides, who would go with May? All she really has is Max.

Prediction for the cast:

Ash, May, Max.

Ash and May are more or less a given, and I don't see Max going anywhere without his big sister. Since Brock has been in this show for ages, and they already foreshadowed a reason for him to leave (Lucy) I can see them giving him a break next region.

Teams:

Ash: Pikachu
May: Combusken, Munchlax (Her starter Pokemon and the D/P mascot)

Since Ash has the overall mascot of the entire franchise (Pikachu) and May has the mascot of the D/P gen (Munchlax), who GameFreak or someone has said in early interviews, they want Munchlax to become as popular as Pikachu. Probably a reason they gave Munchlax to May instead of Brock, they want a leading character to own the mascot of the 4th gen.

Oh and PLEASE give Max a Pokemon. The D/P region doesn't have to start as soon as BF ends. Age the characters a few years. Make Ash around 15ish, May around 12ish, and Max around 10.

That's all I ask.

But why wouldn't Ash go straight to the next region? How do you justify jumping forward a couple of years?

Ash will have his DP Evolution of Swellow on his team.
He'd better. *glareglare*

I'd like Tracey to follow Ash for a while though, if only to deliver "Random Generic Parcel from Oak" to one of the early towns.

I'd actually quite like Tracey to come back onto the main team - he's been stuck in the lab for years now.

And why would the make an evolution for the standard 'early catch bird' from R/S?

They'll just have a new one for D/P.

That's what really gets me about pokemon sometimes though, yeah they're showing character development but is he ever gonna win a proper league. And it's always so ridiculous how he loses Indigo= Charizard refused to battle (why didn't he just switch?) Jhoto= Charizard fell down just before Blaizken did, Houen= Pikachu falls down just before meowth:eh: . I hope he actually at least get to second place this time.

It was 3 on 3 and Charizard was his third Pokémon. Besides, it would be a little cheap for him to win his first tournament, (and would get boring by this time.)

Johto = Charizard fell down just before Blaizken did, Houen= Pikachu falls down just before meowth:eh: .
Two well trained Pokémon that were just a bit better than his own. It's starting to get old, but it could be worse.

I hope he actually at least get to second place this time.
I dunno about second place, but some improvement would be nice.

It would be nice to see Tracey again from time to time, but unless they make new Hoso's we'll probably only see him at the very end and the very beginning of each saga. Same with Misty really.

Tracey is settled at Oak's lab but the writers could easily write Misty back into the group if they want to. They could also write Brock, May or Max out if they want to. (They already did it very briefly at the end of Hoenn.)

At the rate the Battle Frontier is progressing, we may get a couple of episodes between the Pyramid and entry to D/P land. Events at that point will certainly influence whatever the status is when Ash arrives.

If Misty does return (unlikely, as much as I want her to), I hope a parent of her's gets introduced or something and takes back over the gym (after Misty loses a battle, perhaps). I can't really see any other way of her joining the group without it being really cheap.

Not to start a big debate again ( :p ) but you say Tracey is settled down but Misty isn't? I think the Hoso's and those Pallet Town eps beg to differ. So much so that her sisters have completely left the Gym in her hands, and Misty actually enjoys being the Gym leader. They could theoretically make Daisy take over the Gym again, but it'd be more of stealing Misty's identity again. The writers have shown that Misty's happy there and I don't see a reason at the moment for the writers to have her return.

Does Tracey's VA (Japanese) do any other characters on the show? If not, I wonder how he feels voicing his character for like one episode every 2 years or so.

That's what I was thinking. We know that they exist, yet it is clear that they are not around since Daisy gets Misty to be the Gym Leader and leaves the fan club in charge until she gets there. Just an episode where they return home wold be great, but it would be easy for the writers to have her parents take over the Gym so that she could travel with Ash again.

As I see it, the main reason Misty remains as Gym Leader is because she knows that she is better than Daisy. (One could argue that she knew that from the beginning since she battled Ash as a Gym Leader as early as episode 7.) But the Ash issue still seems to be unresolved. I know some will disagree on that, but this seems to be her biggest frustration.

Either way, it purely depends on whether the writers want her back. Brock's departure ended purely because of the "that name" running gag for the two Pallet Town episodes at the end of the Orange Islands.

They *can't* get rid of Brock, that's the first thing. I happen to enjoy Brock as much as I do Team Rocket. He is, to quote Meowth, an oasis of sanity in a sea of idiots. Secondly, give May the boot. The last thing we need is two Ashes. Bring back Misty and make the Pokeshippers happy. (Max taking permanent leave couldn't hurt either.)
Finally, on a more personal/cold day in Blaine's volcano note, make Diamondshipping come true. Inevitably, TR will come to an end during the course of the series at some point, but if they're gonna go down, at least make them go down in a "Giovanni is moved by the actions of his son" way, instead of "Giovanni goes down" I mean, it would be far more original (let the Eldershippers say what they will about Star Wars) than just a total defeat. That way, they'd be staying (relatively) true to the games, but not in the corny "I'm gonna go on a journey to find myself" way.

Probably the same way Ted Lewis (Giovanni) feels.
