Personally, both of these ships annoy the hell out of me, but I'm curious to see which one is more popular.

I'm not big on either of these ships, and especially do not see either as Ash's dad. But ElderShipping interests me.

I think it's obvious which I voted for (points at sig, avatar...)

I don't like either.

The main villain of the Pokemon anime with Ash's Mom doesn't sit well with me, especially if it has to do with Giovanni being Ash's father. Very boring, too Star Wars, and very cliche.

I don't like Eldershipping either. I personally find it a bit distasteful that Oak is screwing Ash's Mom behind the scenes. Why can't the two be platonic friends? That and it makes Oak Ash's stepfather, which would then make Gary related to Ash.

Uh...no. I'd like Ash's Mom to remain single. I don't know why people are so desperate to find a father figure for Ash, (whether it be Giovanni or Oak), because Ash has survived just fine without a father figure for the entire Pokemon anime.

If I had to pick one over the other, then Eldershipping. But I still dislike both a great deal, they do nothing for me.

Wow.

Eldershipping for me isn't necessarily based on having a father figure for Ash. I couldn't care less who the kid's dad is. Heck, I just like the Professor and Ash's mom. Why not put them together, especially since they always show up together?

But I think I'm preaching to a nonchalant audience, and I'm not much for debate; I'm in it for the fanwork. So I'll vote and move on. :D

Star Wars wasn't the first to do it... lots of stuff did the "villain as hero's father" in the past. I mean, George Lucas isn't THAT much of a genius.

And how's it boring? I think it has lots of potential?

Eldershipping, although I wouldn't mind believing that Gio had a past with Delia, but not now. I believe neither is Ash's father, and although I find a teacher messin' around with a student (here I am infering that she could be his student based on the pic with the Hales in movie 3) inappropriate, it seems more likely than Gio-Delia.

It depends on the scenario. I like the idea that Gio and Delia had a fling at one point, a la Pokemon Live!, but him as Ash's father - no thanks. Eldershipping actually has the potential to be pretty cute, but the fact that it makes Ash Gary's uncle is a major turn-off. If Oak was Gary's father rather than his grandfather I think I'd like it a lot. In the end I voted for Eldershipping, but neither of them are ideal ships as the anime currently stands.

too Star Wars.

F*ck Star Wars.Yeah, you heard me.F*ck Star Wars right in the ear. >=/

*ahem*

Anyway,Diamondshipping all the way baby.Mainly because I believe that Diamondshipping has lots of potential. We get to find out about Delia's past,Gio's past, the origin of Team Rocket, etc.

Eldershipping is just too 'Jerry Springer' IMO.

Oak:"Delia is like a daughter to me,but I really am your father Ash.Oh,and you're Gary's uncle by the way.

Ash : X( *pwned*

If Oak and Delia did become closer, it would have been after whatever happened to whoever Ash's father is. (And Ash has to have a father, Scott. Delia had to get the sperm from somewhere!)

Even in that scenario, DiamondShipping still works in the Pokémon Live sense. And 4Kids have confirmed both in different side-canons at some point. That's just 4Kids, though.

No real reason, it just doesn't do anything for me. I'll stick to pairing up the pre-teens in the show, thank you very much. ;)

Maybe she took a bath in a sperm bank? It's not like Ash's father has ever been a plot development in the show. The writers never made an ongoing plot about it, which is why whoever he is will never show up or be mentioned again.

You really have too much faith in the writers sometimes.

I've never seen a sperm bank in the Pokémon World, and if the writers decide to bring him in, then they will. But these ships still work without him.

If you ask me, Diamondshipping's a hell of a lot more interesting than Eldershipping... not only the possibilities for some great angst fic, but the idea of Ash being forced to make a difficult choice later in life (power and money, or the "path of good" Eh, screw the path of good. I'd love to see Ash carry on his father's legacy...)

No offense, but why would Ash feel the need to follow the path of a deadbeat father who he's probably never even seen before?

Power, money, the ability to order Jessie and James around. :-D

It's a shame we all know what he would do when faced with that situation.

I think maybe it would have had potential several years ago, but as of Hoenn, Giovanni's become practically a non-entity in the story. Aside from Meowth's goofy OOC fantasies, will we ever actually see the man again?

We see him in person at the end of the Houen arc, when JJ&M are back in Kanto. TR has a shiny new HQ, guarded by a guy with a pointy stick. I kid you not.
