Diana Comes Back!!!! - Pokémon Horizons Episode 108 Review - Diana Makes Her Grand Return

This might be a controversial take, but Diana easily trumps Professor Oak as the best grandparent in the anime. Yes, Oak may be iconic, but does he drive a convertible with shades and have a giant Arcanine in shades in the passenger’s seat? No, he doesn’t. It’s so nice to see Diana again in this latest episode of Pokémon Horizons. Her coolness just keeps going up every time we see her!

What I really like about Diana is that she’s always helping out with plot progression. Like, the group got some money, found Amethio, got Uruto back after a squabble and now they need a new destination to head towards now that all their sidequests are done. Thanks to Diana and Uruto, the group learns that the Six Heroes are with the Explorers, and Uruto told them about how he saw Kleavor and Lapras inside a cage. Pagogo and the Six Heroes are the keys to getting rid of Laquium once and for all, but they need more power—basically, they need Pokémon of every type with strong powers. While they have Pokémon of all types on the airship, I have a feeling that’s too easy and not what the narrative is looking for. I’m sure that the kids’ Pokémon will count as some of the missing twelve, but what about the rest? Are they going to catch more Pokémon? Also, will Briar be helpful with their new objective?

There are a lot of divisive comments regarding the Liko vs. Diana battle. While I do have my fair share of gripes, I do know that the battle was mainly for Charcadet’s growth as it did learn a new move in Fire Spin…BUT, I can’t help but to grumble over the fact that Meowscarada was knocked out too quickly, and that Liko’s strategy was the usual move spamming. Liko, you do remember that Meowscarada knows Magical Leaf, right? It could’ve benefited the battle on her side a bit more. Regardless, I don’t mind that Liko lost; I just don’t like how she lost. I thought that Diana having a Wash Rotom was a cool idea too.

I feel like Diana will be the key to helping Charcadet evolve into Amarouge. Other than that, she continues to be one of the best supporting characters in Horizons, to the point that Uruto actually isn’t shy towards someone of the opposite gender for once! He finds Diana cool and they do a fist bump. Heck, everyone in the airship loves her so much that Murdock even makes a huge feast for her. I honestly can’t wait for where the Rising Volt Tacklers will head next. They decide to look for Cervantis, Amethio’s father, as he might have some clue on where the Explorers are taking the Six Heroes. Next week’s preview indicates that they might be heading to Galar as there is a Corviknight Flying Taxi there…and I am going to pray for the chaos Coral and Sidian will get themselves into just because they rode the wrong taxi at the wrong time… Let me know your thoughts on this episode!
