Did anyone else think Gen7 had some of the best Pokemon designs in the franchise?

Gen7 has by far one of the best sets of Pokemon in the entire franchise. In fact, I don't even understand why it isn't already considered one of the most interesting sets. Last time I checked, it was because they thought Bruxish ruined the entire set. (And tbh, Bruxish isn't that bad of a design in my opinion. While the colour scheme is kind of garish, I see nothing else wrong with the design because there are many real life animals that look like that)

And besides, there were a LOT of excellent, top tier designs in that generation, such as Primarina, Incineroar, Vikavolt, Palossand, Araquanid, Golisopod, Mimikyu, Dhelmise, etc.

I know Alolan Persian is from gen7 and that's my least favourite Pokemon in existence, but again, that's nothing compared to the massive amounts of great designs in gen7. Other than that, there are barely any other mons in that generation I don't like, and like I said before, I don't mind Bruxish.

So again, don't let one bad design hinder all other great designs of any generation. So in short, gen7 had a truly phenomenal set of Pokemon species.

Sadly, I have to disagree with you. Gen 7 was one of those regions where I feel like I didn’t have as many options as I would’ve liked to form a team. There are certainly some pokemon I did like, such as Komala, Lycanroc, Nihilego, Primarina and Wishiwashi. However there were a lot of designs that didn’t do much for me, Incineroar, Bruxish, Alolan Dugtrio, Alolan Exeggutor, Crabominable, Gumashoos, Turtonator, Kommo-o, Alolan dugtrio, the monkeys/apes and some of the ultra beasts just range from ugly to uninspired for me. I did like gen 7 for introducing a futuristic/science fiction vibe with the aether foundation aesthetic, their uniforms, the Ultra Recon Squad, Team Rainbow Rocket, Ultra Megalopolis and being able to visit different dimensions in Ultra Space, that was peak, but the pokemon designs overall were not it for me.

For me Gen 7 introduced many interesting and original Pkmn, (Wishiwashi above everyone else IMHO) but I'm a nostalgic so I prefer 'mon with simple design and form. And still in my hopinion, the Gen 7 problem was especially the relative Alolan form... Except 2 or 3 the rest was pretty forgettable :bulbaWave:

I don't agree. Yes there were some good ones - Incineroar, Vikavolt, Passimian, Mimikyu and Lycanroc being among my favorites - but there were plenty of designs that I found ugly or uninteresting, like Tsareena, Turtonator, Togedemaru, the Ultra Beasts and a ton of others. It doesn't help that I absolutely loathe most of the regional variants, which I felt took up space in the Dex.

HARD Agree. It's my second favorite design region after Johto and has tons of cool mons.
  • The Rowlet family is AMAZING all around. From a cute first stage to a badass final stage, both broke conventions in terms of typing and look great together.
  • The other two starters are good on their own and offer great playstyles and have fun typings.
  • The regional bug is Bug-ELECTRIC for the first time, and is a railgun beetle! The cocoon is cute and iconic too.
  • Crabrawler and Crabominable are aquatic creatures but live in land, and have strong themes of coming to the top and becoming a champion embracing the ice of Mount Lanakila.
  • Oricorio and Wishiwashi's gimmicks are absurdly fun.
  • Lycanroc. Enough said.
  • No offense to Rapidash but we were overdue for another horse. And Mudsdale delivered, being a rather unique type of horse whose defense goes up every turn and who is also a GIANT.
  • Lurantis is a plant that disguises as a bug and its fashion is enviable.
  • Salandit mixes two types extremely well with a cool concept and ability, and if you're lucky and it's female you'll get access to the punk rock Salazzle.
  • Stufful and Bewear have a lore that is as cute and as dark as themselves. Definitely not your average bear and are extremely memorable.
  • Brains and brawn monkey duo, though using new species Pokemon had not touched before!
  • Wimpod and Golisopod bring back Magikarp's tropes but with extremely cool inspirations in new species and samurais.
  • Pokemon PERFECT for Hawaii like Comfey, Bruxish or Palossand.
  • Type: Null is as unique as its name, an Arceus imitation that makes Aether Foundation even more suspicious and Gladion a better and more mysterious rival.
  • Minior combines Darumaka and Vivillion's gimmicks into one mon, and represents space observation.
  • Mimikyu, the one who wanted to be Pikachu and now surpasses it on every popularity poll. Isn't it fun to have a creepy version of your franchise mascot?
  • Dhelmise, why ask for a sunken ship when you can have its two most iconic elements combined into one with a cute mysterious face and unpredictable typing.
  • Fighting-type pseudo that takes inspiration from local legends and that isn't too edgy or too friendly.
  • Legendaries with connected PRE EVOLUTIONS that represent a star cycle.
  • The Tapus could not be more tied to Alola if they wanted, each represents their island extremely well.
  • ULTRA BEASTS. Pokemon that don't look like Pokemon but somehow work and look as cool as they are uncanny. The coolest group of Pokemon in my opinion as they are extremely unique.
