Did anyone realize that this is the reason why Hilda didn't appear in the BW anime?

The reason why she didn't appear in the BW anime was because it was supposed to be a homage to Indigo League, where it was two Gym Leaders that traveled with Ash, because there was no female player character in Generation I (Leaf was introduced in FRLG, and that was released in Generation III, when Ash was in Hoenn). It's not because she has a minor role as a NPC if you choose Hilbert, and whether the player characters have major (like May and Serena) or more minor roles (like Dawn) probably have nothing to do with whether they appear in the anime or not. The reason why Serena was the female traveling companion for XY was because it was supposed to be a homage to Advanced Generation, where it was a Gym Leader, a female player character and a sibling of one of the main characters that was traveling with Ash. And I think that the reason they stopped making player characters Ash's traveling companions (and stopped making player characters appear in the anime altogether) after XY was because they stopped doing the traditional journey format for the series. Like, for SM, it was the Trial Captains and Lillie that were his classmates, and for Journeys, it was two anime exclusive characters.
