Did Hunter J's death seem strange to you?

In DP151: The Needs of Three, Hunter J's ship was struck down by Uxie and Mesprit's Future Sight attack. It crashed into the whirlpool and sunk into the lake before exploding.

This scene seemed tacked on by the writers to write off Hunter J and to show that death does happen in the Pokemon world. It's like they ran out of ideas for the character and decided to bump her off.

Not to mention, Hunter J (in my honest opinion) was a badass villain with so much potential. For her to be killed off like this is just unfitting. She should have had one last battle with Ash in an epic two (or three) parter episode that led to her ultimate downfall. Hate her all you like but I love me a good villain and J is an awesome villain for Pokemon! She's much better than Team Rocket as she tries to kill Ash (not that I hate Ash) and she's always dead serious. Why couldn't she have appeared in more episodes?

Lastly, it doesn't seem like J really died. If you think about it, J could've escaped at the very last second by using a Psychic type Pokemon that she recently caught to teleport out of her airship and leave her men to die (as she's ruthless as usual). I have a feeling that the writers didn't really kill her off and are planning on having her return in Best Wishes. It may seem like wishful thinking and it is but I love Hunter J and I hope she returns somehow.

You can agree or diasgree however you like but I'm sticking by my opinions no matter what. So feel free to reply however you want.

Hunter J didn't "die," she simply "fell into a lake and exploded with her ship." Humans don't "die" in Pokemon, they simply go with the flow of the circumstances of how and why they no longer appear...

It certainly was an odd thing for the anime to do, but oh well. She's dead. Moving on.

The bold part is what we call speculation.

Whether she died or not, it's likely to conclude that J will not be seen ever again.

Hardy Har Har, Neo.

Her final scene was written in such a way that makes her convincingly dead if the character is never used again. If the writers do decide to use her again, there's enough ambiguity there to allow for her return. I think it's unlikely that we'll see her again. But again, there's nothing stopping the writers from bringing her back if that's what they want down the line.

Though I am a huge Hunter J fan, so that could be the dizzying bias speaking.

no.
i'd die too if i was blown deep under the lake.
did you see that explosion?

ah, lovely death it was.

Am I the only one who liked Hunter J? Like I said, she was the coolest villain on Pokemon next to Giovanni.

even though some of us like her (me) you have to accept its unlikely she will return after that. ship exploded, RIP.

I can accept it if she died. I can't accept how she died as we barely knew her and Ash never got to face her one last time. She had so much potential and the writers decided that they were done with her when there was so much more she could've done.

She could've had a cool backstory. She could've had an epic final battle with Ash. But noooooooo.

True. not too sure about epic final battle but i agree, they could have done a whole lot more.

Yeah, I don't think she's dead either. Her henchmen are a different story, but she's the sort who doesn't get written out like that. She's not like Fuji, who can get offed after serving his purpose, because Fuji didn't have a further purpose. J is one of the most threatening villians we've had, and to suddenly kill her off during an already rushed finale wouldn't make any sense from a story perspective.

Unless they want to replace her with her storywise prototype Vicious, but he's got a team alignment (tenuious as it is), so unless they decide to have him break from TR and strike out on his own, J it is.

I personally believe that J escaped somehow before the airship crashed into the whirlpool and made her way to the Isshu Region.

Sir Aaron and Kyuukon/Ninetale's trainer from Just Waiting on a Friend/Kyuukon in the Mist say "hi."

Ai/Amber and all her clones AND her father, also, say "hi."

Well...technically we don't know what happened to Lokoko's trainer. Certainly he's dead NOW because that was two hundred years ago, but they didn't cover exactly what happened to him.

Two things:

(1) I do not know who these people are,

(2) You don't know a joke when you see one, lol.

Fine by me!

I think it doesn't matter at this point. It's old news. Isshu is on the way. Out with the old, in with the new. We aren't in Sinnold anymore, we're in Isshnew.
