Pretty self-explanatory. But for a girl who is seen by the fandom as very tomboyish and adventurous and the only girl on the main cast who is a trainer, did Misty have any good battles in the show at all?

I mean, when you think about it she was on the road, traveliing with three pokemon for some time when she met Ash, then in episode 2 she lost to Jessie, in episode 7 she "tied" with Ash, in episode 9, she lost to Giselle, etc. The very few times we've seen her really win was usually using a pokemon she didn't train (Golduck, Princess Day, etc.) or Psyduck.

When you think about it, Misty is a textbook exemple of a Faux Action Girl. So did Misty have any real good battles?

NOTE: This isn't a thread to debate Misty's personality, but her battling record.

Most of them were very cheap. Her Togepi and Psyduck have pretty ruined them.

I used to hope that she would have some good battling moments, but there aren't any that I remember well.

Though, there was that battle against Molly underwater in the 3rd movie.

In the Princess vs. Princess episode, yeah she did use Pokemon that she didn’t train. However, we should give her some credit because for a Water type specialist she handled herself pretty well don’t you think? That episode showed that she can work well with Pokemon of almost any type not just those of the Water species.

I liked her battle in the third movie; it was pretty cool since it was underwater. Yeah, most of her battles were pretty cheap due to the use of psychic powers because of a headache or a little egg with “magical abilities.” The one in the Bridge Bike Gang made me cry laughing when I first saw it. Those people were so mean to Psyduck I felt so bad for it, but now that I watch it I can’t help but laugh. In Chronicles, she is shown to have a few battles. Most of them sad to say, were pretty cheap even the ones that she lost. Tackle doing that much damage to a Rock/Water type, come on people! The cheapest one in my opinion was at the Whirl Cup when Spike Cannon knocked out a Gyrados what were the writers thinking?!

I won’t count where Ash has Kingler pinch the dumb duck’s head which caused him to lose because he should have known better. If the writers wanted Misty to win they should have come up with something better than that. The ones with Gyrados I won’t talk bad about it much because she faced her fears and mastered the use of it. I think it is easily her most powerful Pokemon.

I wish Ash and her would battle against and I mean a battle with no cheapness at all. I think if she and Ash had of battled when she came back in AG Misty would have won, but that’s just me.

Hmm... Well, the only good battles in the show that Misty had, were at Whirl Cup and one with Molly in 3rd movie, rest was just "insert insults here".

Again, I liked the underwater battle in the 3rd movie. There may have been some in the chronicle episodes that were quite good too. Otherwise, Psyduck killed a lot of the appeal for me.
Having said that, battles weren't as good anyway in the original series (especially Kanto :p)

The only memeorable one for me is the one between her and Molly in the 3rd movie.

Otherwise, Misty's battles weren't all that great or memeorable, IMO.

Of course she did,one of best battles she had were in my opinion:
-underwater battle against Molly. It was all around intense and i liked creative use of Staryu showing some impressive moves.
-battle against Trinity in Whirl Cup was good, and even though that one spike cannon hit being able to knock down Gyara may have seem "cheap" to some people,in theory its possible considering it hitted him in vital part(his neck) causing critical hit. Some parts on pokemon body are more vulnerable than others.
-her match for Totodile with Ash was good aswell, not including Togepi part displaying big desire from pokemon on both sides striking win for their trainers.
-her battle against Georgio in chronicles vs Delcatty was good showing interesting tactics.

There were others which were ok or good, but these would be my favorite ones she had.

I also agree with Paulistthebest,Misty deserves some credit in Princess vs Princess episode considering she showed being able to use respectably well pokemon from other types not relying only on water type.

p.s.Contrary to some people belief,Misty did train with some references in series pointing toward that.LIke in episode with Marina which pointed out how Misty trained well her Staryu or in "Octillery The Outcast" episode when she battled kid with Remoraid which served as training duel.

Also come on Gible, you perfectly well know why Misty didnt battled much.Thank that to coughmr.Shudocough.

The only good battles Misty ever had was with Molly and Jessie. And maybe Ash at the Whirl Cup. All of her other battles were pretty much lame.

She successfully decked Ash a few times. Physical violence, a successful K.O, that's what battles are made of.

But nah, she didn't really. I mean, I guess I could cite the movie 3 stuff, but compared to, like, pretty much everyone else it pales in comparrison. Plus, I can't get excited about a freaking Staryu, I just can't.
She wasn't really about battling or taking part in competitions though, so I'm kind of willing to let it slide. I got a lot of laughs, that's good enough for me!

Gosh, I forgot to name a couple of others that I found really good.

-The battle between Misty and Georgio.

-Ash's gym battle against Misty.

There were at least three battles that stood out. The gym battle, the battle for Totodile, and the Whirl Cup. I honestly don't remember anything else.

I liked Ash's gym battle against Misty mainly for the emotional drama. The actual fight scenes weren't as dynamic as I'd like them to be.

Since she wasn't the main character I suppose there wasn't much room for her skills to shine. Similarly, Brock, who has been in more episodes than Misty most likely has roughly the same amount or a less amount, even, of memorable battling moments.

Against Molly was a good one. Too bad it ended within 2 minutes or so.

Anything involving Psyduck and Togepi sucked.

All characters who are in cast are main characters.
Reason why Misty didnt battle much was because of writers making some mistakes back than(as its been explained in Takeshi Shudo blogs),and partially because of not being as experienced like they are now.

When it comes to Brock,he battled even less than Misty did and one of reason could be because of nature of his goal not being much about competing or battling.Being a breeder isnt so much about action, but more about taking care of pokemon raising the to optimal form so i can understand in a way why he barely battled.

Yeah, Psyduck and Togepi were cheap, and Corsola to a lesser extent (Mirror Coat), and all her other battles were losses I think.

I think her best match was that one episode where she thought her Psyduck evolved into Golduck, but it was just a wild one only listening to Misty to impress her.

As Misty put it: "It's just a Pokémon version of Brock." (sinks through the floor)

I don't know why people are forgetting Sakura, the closest person Misty has to a rival.

Furthermore, these are the only noteworthy battles Misty had, not necessarily "good." The definition of a particular battle being "good" is in the eye of the beholder.
- Ash VS Misty (gym, Totodile battle, Whirl Cup)
- Misty VS Jessie (Princess Festival)
- Misty VS Marina (Psyduck episode)
- Misty VS Molly (third movie)
- Misty VS Trinity (Whirl Cup)
- Misty VS Sakura (both times)
- Misty VS Dorian (Coastline Gym Leader, unofficial)
- Misty VS Georgio (Pokemon Chronicles)
