Did PokeSpe plan to make the Striation Triplets and the Shadow Triad the same?

I remember this speculation and the very interesting hints given the Triad's individual masks as well as their choice in Pokemon. Whatever happened to Kusaka making Gym Leaders into villains or making composite characters?

When was the last time that Kusaka took radical liberties with Pokémon story? In the past, where you have a bare minimum of story details, you will always find Pokémon adaptations to be a great departure from the games, be it anime or manga.

But since the Pokémon games have grown more sophisticated in storytelling, the adaptations tend to fall in line with only a few minor departures. Thus, the Triad being the Straiton Triplets is unlikely if GameFreak didn't consider it a possibility.

I don't read the manga, but have in mind that, before the Black 2 and White 2 games came out, the possibility was still there, and there was a lot of speculation about it (even without PokéSpe's hints into the mix). It wouldn't surprise me if they left the possibility open in the manga, up until it was confirmed untrue by the games.

Like with XY and how it completely overhauled the plotline of the original two games, barebone though it was.

The BW Chapter wasn't exactly faithful either with the original's story so I get the sense Kusaka wanted to connect the two trios whether or not it was so in the games... only for the editor to nix that decision for reasons.

I suspect executive meddling. Kusaka wouldn't gave them these masks in other case.

Considering all the other alterations that he's done, I find this particular choice weird.

@matt0044 I think was pretty bummed when the theory was disproven in BW2 and would have put it I had it not.
