Just a quick, straightforward question. I was wondering if the series became more or less popular after PUSA took over

Im not trying to start an opinionated war on the VA switch, because I have my opinions on that topic. I just want to know if the new company increased or decreased viewer's rates. and this is for THE ANIME, NOT the DP games.

Or did the kids not even notice?

Personally, I think due to some people's attachments to certain aspects of the show then yes, the auidence has dropped. However, that is a minority of the show's viewers and virtually none of the target auidence.

So in short no.

It's hard to compare since the switch coincides with a switch from network tv to cable as well.

I got back into watching the anime around when DP came out. I think PUSA had good timing in that aspect. Alot of people started watching it around that time I'll bet.

That would be interesting to look into

I stopped watching in Johto, and then picked up again with DP001, so I didn't see about 1/4 of Johto or any part of AG, I've gone back and watched them all, but it would be interesting to see what happened around the time of the VA switch.

The switch went from a free channel (KidsWb), to a cable one (CN).

I don't see why some of you are so concerned about ratings. It averages in the 2.0's each Saturday morning on CN and does well enough to continue.

Pokemon has never, ever, been in danger of being cancelled in the U.S. Even though of course the ratings are nowhere near as high during the first few seasons, the show has been a hit for KidsWB through all 8 years and CN for 3 years and counting.

I have to confess that, despite me being very affected by the VA switch, I still kept watching the dub. And the reason for that was mostly because I am a huge fan of the show itself.

In fact, pior to the VA switch, there was never a time when I didn't watch the 4Kids dub of Pokemon. I'm a rerun fanatic, and I've also seen the original airings of ever episode from seasons 1 through 8 (for the most part). So therefore, because of my strong dedication to watching the Pokemon dub, I could never bring myself to stop watching the show, even despite all the horrible changes.

I actually always wondered about that too about the ratings, but I always heard its one the biggest ratings in Cartoon Network, and I agree with Scott85 that it never been in danger of cancelation.

I found this on this site. http://enews.cynopsis.com/html.asp?XZY1185837UTF60

And this is the ratings for September 20, 2008.

Pokemon: Diamond & Pearl Battle Dimensions 2.5/11; Pokemon: Diamond & Pearl Battle Dimensions 2.9/13

Its one the most viewed on Cartoon Network only behind Ben10, but the free lance like 4Kids, CW, ABC, wow.

While there is the shift in ratings that's to be expected when a show goes from a free channel to one that isn't, the ratings have been pretty consistent in that they're always at the top of the network's rankings.

The kids most likely noticed the switch but, as I predicted, didn't really care. Just like with the Dragon Ball Z recast; the hardcore Internet geeks were all up in arms over the VA switch, but the general public didn't really care one way or another.
