Did the writers know there was a new game coming out this year?

The writers decided to stretch out Sinnoh over the course of 4 years, (we're up to DP164, and Ash still doesn't even have 8 badges), yet there seems like a new game is coming out later this year.

How do you think this will effect the anime? There's been a 32 episode gap between the end of Snowpoint, as well as previous insane gaps.

Will the writers still cover Sinnoh Frontier Brains and or Elite 4? I wonder.
 
They knew EVERYTHING!

Hell, maybe they are going to give us an epic DP162 because we won't see anymore Hikari vs. Urara... Now that would be very sad...
 
We might be saying goodbye to Ash's Sinnoh team, Dawn, Paul and all the other characters sooner than expected then.

Not sure how I feel about this. It seems like there's still so much to do in Sinnoh. :/

Sadly. And not only in Shinou, but maybe in Jouto as well, like Rocket-dan taking over Kogane City, Rocket Executives themselves, rival battles... But since a new game is revelaed, they probably won't be done...

Anyways I think Shinou will be done greatly, and I'm pretty sure we will at least have a Hard Mountain arc, a Mai/Sheimi arc and a Kurotsugu battle, but for other frontier brains, challenging them in the same place would be kind of stupid and boring...

So I guess it's time to say goodbye. Goodbye Urara, Kohei, Shinji, Jun, Aoi, Hikari, Naoshi, Satoshi's Shinou team, you will always be remembered in our hearts... No, not you Kengo.
 
I just wonder why the hell they stretched Sinnoh out so long then. The pacing between these last Gyms didn't give me the impression the saga had to end this year.

I would be shocked if the Frontier Brains are not covered at all, or if all the E4 showcasing was for nothing.
 
If it is a new gen then I think it'll have bad influence on the anime...
I was sure they're trying to stretch this gen for as long as possible because it'll be a huge wait until next gen and I thought after Sinnoh end (by the end of 2010) we'll get another saga (Johto or whatever else) of a year or two until next gen begins
They probably did intentually stretch Sinnoh, but not to make it longer and to then add a "filler saga" to make even longer than it was, but because they knew they won't have a lot of time to actually do a "filler saga" so they chose to stretch it until next gen

It's really sad if Dawn will have only one GF while May got two... I really hope Dawn will stay for next gen but I know I better prepare myself to another girly Coordinator with cute Poké
Hopefully like happened until now, the new girl will be at least as good as Dawn... but I still hope Dawn stays
 
Haha, the funny thing is Sunyshore still isn't even announced in an episode title yet, and we have titles almost until March now.

Dawn can win the current Contest
March can finish Sunnyshore
April-May GF (hopefully)
June "fillers"
July-August-possibly September - League
October-November - Elite Four (as you yourself admitted, it won't be longer than 10 eps and probably even less than that)
End of November - gen 5

They can easily include the E4 since it'd be just a few eps, but a BF seems impossible right now...
At least this means E4 (in case it happens) will be the very end of the whole DP series rather than just end of Sinnoh and then beginning of "filler saga"
It'll be a nice way to end the series and if Ash really wins the league and beat the E4, a lose to the Champion will show him (and the viewers) that he still has long way to go and that will motivate him to go the gen 5 region
 
Well at least this confirms we won't be going back to Johto. I always knew from the start we wouldn't go back there. Nice to see the Johto legends get Movie 13 though.

I'm pretty sure you will like the next gen girl Piplup, you said it yourself.

I hope in next gen we will have good rivals. Because to be honest I watch this show only for sake of them. Musashi is a given, and she is definately becoming better just like Satoshi becoming more mature. For others, let's hope they are not boring, but not too similiar to other rivals we had.

Since we won't go to Jouto again, I say writers made a good decision with this one.
 
More importantly, WHERE is the kricketot filler we've all been waiting for? We've all just been biding our time on that one.


I don't really getting why this series being dragged out for as long as it has implies that they weren't aware of an upcoming new generation. I mean, look at Johto. Look at it. I want all of you to look at it.
Ash goes to the league after many adventures featuring Pidgey, loses, then BAM! New generation hits our heroes like DP02 chick's lorry.

There could be many reasons for them not wanting to do a battle frontier. Maybe they just wanted the series to be full-on league journey this time around. I mean, let's face it. We haven't exactly been drowning in filler or anything. Would a frontier repeat (something Ash actually WON) really be necessary with all this icky 'character development' swarming around like mosquitos?

Well given they showed Palmer, I imagine they could do the Frontier quickly by having them all back to back. Instead of traveling, Ash does each Brain right after each other like in the games.

I know, but I still want Dawn to stay... 2 boys 2 girls group will be the best for me - let's throw Brock and add gen 5's hero and heroine!
And while I might be exaggerating, I still say that if new girl has long black/blue hair then they can easily change Dawn to her by a little change of hair style (she change it every Contest anyway) and giving Dawn her outfit
 
Oh shit, I just forgot about Gible and Togekiss. Seriously, what's the point if all these Pokemon will be dumped in about 8 months?

Maybe something is up.

I liked the first idea, but not the second. The second one will be horrible, and yes that is quite a lot exaggerating. I prefer Hikari the way she is.

Fukamaru can evolve into Gabite by eating the next gen girl's bike.

We can say the same about Glalie too... also, who knows, maybe Dawn stays and keep Togekiss? or Ash takes Pika and Gible with him? or Gible waits for gen 5's "filler saga" like Phanpy?

Maybe something is up.

Maybe we all getting to conclusions and it's not a new gen at all XD
We really don't know anything currently so who knows what's this game will be

The thing about that Togekiss, is that it wasn't shown in the group shot with Dawn (and Ash/Brock's) other Pokemon in the following scene. We just see it come out of a Pokeball with Buneary.

Maybe its her "farewell" Pokemon, similar to May's Blaziken? She doesn't seem to get it till all her contests are over.

Possible, I mean everything else either won't evolve or can't evolve.

Well, you have to admit most of the girls look almost exactly the same other than the hair style/color and their clothes... so if new girl has same hair color, why not? but I agree the first idea is better

I think it's obvious they simply forgot Togekiss in that group shot, similar to how they forgot Dustox in the BF OP and people jumped to conclusions...
Dawn will get this Togekiss before her second-to-last ep so it's not that much similar to May's Blaziken
She'll probably catch it as a Togepi in the upcoming titles and it'll quickly evolve

I still think she will get it as a Togechick. Togepi got a lot of screentime already. Togechick on the other hand, not so much.
