Did Venusaur and Blastoise ever battled each other in the anime or manga?

While marathoning the Anime and reading some Pokemon manga i noticed 1 thing, I've never ever seen Venusaur and Blastoise against each other. I did few google searches there were no results either.
While Venusaur vs Charizard and Charizard vs Blastoise happened many times.


Why do you think the writers don't put these pokemon against each other in any media?

There's probably no reason to have them fight each other and if there is no reason or opening to - Why force it? I just think there's never been a chance or reason from the seasons I've seen: If you want to see them fight each other though you could check out Death Battle - Charizard versus Blastoise versus Venusaur.

Considering the many episodes and large cast of characters that appear with kanto pokemon throughout the the series. But still i think it's interesting that's these never had an official battle for two decades.

I watched Death Battle but who want a battle based on statistics (we have seen that thousands of times already) rather than characters-involving, story-related, fun and twists?

I think you took my post the wrong way. When I said "don't force it", I meant its not good for writers to force a storyline that isn't there. I haven't really seen a reason to pit them against each other because Satoshi has never had either. He had Charizard, but never the others. There best shot was "Pokemon the 1st movie", but they decided to not pull the trigger.

Ah i see. Misunderstanding in my part.

And It's not necessary that battle to has anything to do with Ash in anyway. Many other characters had Venusaur or Blastoise. Venusaur fought other starters like Cindaquil, Greninja (and i think ash's scyptile but can't remember correctly) and Charizard.
Blastoise fought Bayleef, pikachu and Charizard and maybe more.

Red and Green rivalry in the manga was a strong potential but that didn't happen either. Not even Ivysaur against Wartortle took place. While Bulbasaur fought Charmander/Charmeleon in another chapter and Venusaur with Charizard at the end of the arc.

Really weird if you ask me.
