I did! I loved them so much! It was awesome to see May come back, and Conway and Holly were a pleasure.

Let's not forget about the battles.

Jessie was great comic relief during the Summer School Arc.

If we ever do get another summer arc, after this summer since obviously it will be League crazy, let it be battled related.

The Summer School Arc was good, as well as Twinleaf Town Arc, but I just wish there was more battle action.

I loved Dawn and Grimer's relationship, as well as Jessie and Smoochum?

What did you feel about the mini-arcs, and do you think it should be an ongoing thing for this show?

All of them were great. But my favorites were...

I loved the Wallace Cupand the fact that May was in it. It was awesome to see May interact with Dawn and Zoey. The battles were amazing and it was a pleasure to watch Dawn vs. May. I was rooting for Dawn through the whole thing ;)

The summerschool arc was amazing as well. It was nice to see Conway again and Angie was a cool character. The relationship between Dawn and Grimer was quite interesting and the challenges were pretty neat. Also, the interactions between Ash and Angie were hilarious. Jessie and Conway were hilarious as well.

I'm not gonna lie, I rooted for Dawn the whole time too, although I love May, it was so Dawn's time to shine.

Arcs are awesome!

I wish they'd bring Misty back for arcs in the future.

Me too. I've been waiting for Dawn to meet Misty for a long time.

I did not enjoy them,I adored them.Seriously!Even some Gym battles felt like mini-arcs!

I honestly cant decide whose were my favourites, the Summer school arc was just too funny. The wallace cup was awesome, and the tag tournament...oh boy the tag tournament and the chimmchar plot!

I am specting a lot of them next saga!too.Writers dont dissapoint me!

I dislike everything about mini-arcs, but I voted for the "They sucked" for the one reason that I have seen mini-arcs done well. They just were not here. They didn't introduce anything that the character's were influenced by later on, and did little for character development. And continuity was bad altogether.

Then you've obviously never seen the tag battle arc. The whole Chimchar plot affected later episodes, affecting Ash as a whole.

And the Wallace Cup arc brought in May, who influenced Dawn. And it was because of the Wallace Cup arc that Ursula has a bitter rivalry with Dawn.

And whether they sucked or not is a matter of opinion isn't it?

The Tag Battle Arc was more of a arc so Ash could get to know Chimchar, so it wasn't really so minor.

Wallace cup was fan service.

And this was opinion, I shared mine.

Hey, you were honest at least. You didn't bs, or try to appeal overall to others.

We are all here to express our opinion. Like to be honest, I loved the Wallace Cup way more than the Tag Battle Arc, tho, I loved that as well.

The Tag Battle Arc was good, but I loved contests, and I love Dawn way more than Ash. But I do love Ash.

But damn, is Dawn awesome! :)

I absolutely loved how much DP pushed into mini-arc territory. The Tag Battle arc and Team Galactic finale were easily Pokémon at its finest. Not only were they of outstanding quality in themselves, but they tied into large storytelling in signifigant ways. Really, they had plot twists and introspection into characters' mindsets, with plenty of cinematic moments. The latter even managed pulled together years worth of plot seeds into one epic blow-out.

The Wallace Cup, while not up to par with those two, was definitely enjoyable, managing to bring back a previously main character and tying up Dawn's depression plotline, among other things. The Summer School arc was alright (the stand-out episode being Ghoul Daze without a doubt). The Twinleaf Festival was dreadful the first half, but the second half was much better (I loved Historical Mystery Tour).

Oh, and aside from those, it was really great how- with a couple exceptions- the stays in Gym towns were expanded on much more thoroughly and for longer periods of time than they ever had been in previous series. I particularly loved the Snowpoint arc, with so much stuff going on (learning more on the backstories of Paul and Zoey, Brandon's return, J's assault on the temple, battles galore). The Veilstone arc comes in second, with similar character developments and introductions, villianous plots, and other good stuff. There was also some more low-key stuff like the Amber Castle and Johto Festival arcs, which while not exactly wonderful, weren't the worst this show's seen. I really liked the group dynamics Lyra and Khoury brought in.

In all, you can telle that with this series, there was a genine effort to implement more focus on ongoing storylines and character focus and less on individual episode plots, and large amount of mini-arcs, most of which possess a huge amount of quality, really reflects that. They took AG's more continuity-friendly atmosphere and just ran with it.

Well I generally enjoy mini-arcs more than fillers.

Even if said arc, like the entire summer school arc, could be written off as filler itself. Granted Conway was there, but at the time we didn't know he would be a league rival.

But overall I'd rather see eps that have to do with other eps than generic, "Let's help filler boy/girl with his problems," like most fillers are.

I really liked the mini-arcs in DP. They were a lot of fun, and also interesting. My favorites were the Summer School Arc and The Wallace Cup. The Summer School Arc also had introduced (and reintroduced) great characters.

Wallace Cup: Looooooooved the Wallace Cup. I loved how they introduced a different environnement to contest with constest water battles. The Zoey v May match was epic. Indiana Jones wannabe Ash and I dream of Jeannie wannabe May were great but this was all about Dawn. I loved the scene were Piplup is screaming at her, pushing her to overcome her doubts and lack of confidence. It was so great to see some amazing character developpement. Bad points : No Pachirisu :( and Kyle should have been Ursula.

Hearthome Tag Team Tournament : Again with the great character developpement. Ash and Chimchar had some moments where I got teary and Conway and Holly were funny and interesting. Loved it. I love also how we saw Dawn and Brock battle.

Summer School: I wasn't feeling the Angie love to be honest but I still liked this arc. Dawn and Grimer = win. Jessie + Smoochum = win. The ghost episode was freaky...

Team Galactic: Finally a vilain team done right. It was awesome, start to finish. Great animation, Great dialogue. The one bad thing is I wished the Lake trio had more distinct personalities and the interactions with the Ash, Dawn and Brock would have been less robotic.

Snowpoint arc: Paul, Pyramid King Brandon, Pokémon Hunter J, Zoey backstory, gym battle, frontier brain challenge, 4 legendary pokémon... do I need to say anything more. It rocked and then rocked some more.

Veilstone arc: Reggie was meh and felt more like a litterary foil for Paul than a three-dimensionnal character, but Staravia focus, Dawn battles in a gym, Ash battles in a gym and Galactic is up to their crazy antics... Yeah, I liked it

Twinleaf arc: Loved the Dawn v Johanna battle, loved the Ash v Palmer battle, loved historical mystery tour, but outside of the battles it was a bit flat. I wish the tournament itself would have been a two-parter (screw the faux-oak redux episode) so we could have seen Dawn and Brock battle (they did but off-screen). Also Dawn is there, Barry is there, we're in their home town... you'd think this would have been a good time to reintroduce people who's hometown is also Twinleaf... like Kenny (and Leona if she was from Twinleaf too)

The best ones would have to be Hearthome Tag Team tournament, Snowpoint, and Wallace Cup in that order. First one had so much important background as well as one of the most important points in Ash and Paul's rivalry. Also, Conway's creepiness being a source of laughs. Snowpoint had a barrage of awesome characters making an appearance, some great battles and some Appealshipping goodness. Wallace Cup is probably one of the best contest tournaments including the ones from Advanced Generation.

Galactic Finale was incredible as well. I was just disappointed how the conclusion seemed so abrupt. I want to say it needed at least one more episode to close off properly but it really seems like it doesn't need that either, just better pacing and a little less filler. J's death also needed something to drive the point home.

I haven't seen all the mini-arcs, but I did see the Summer School and Twinleaf arcs. They were rather okay. I liked how Ash and Angie interacted with each other, as well as Ash's battle with the Tower Tycoon, Palmer.

Yup, they were awesome. Sinnoh finally gave us more plot arc and less one-time filler eps.

They were amazing, FAR better then the Johto ones. Even I as the Pokemon Contests number one hater has to admit, the Wallace Cup was amazing.

Wallace cup was fan service.

- Dawn got over her confident problems
- Zoey got over her problems with people doing both Gyms and Contests
- We got clear proof that Ash/Buizel prefer/better at regular/Gyms-style battles rather than Contests
- Ambipom got revenge at its Solaceon failure
- Dawn got her second ribbon
- We learned what's up with May (who's story was randomly cut at the middle of it) and what Max is currently doing
- Ursula's hate of Dawn was only because of this Wallace Cup
- Paul had a whole argument with Ash because Ash participated at the Wallace Cup
- Ash perfected Dawn's Ice Aqua Jet and used it for the first time on screen

The Wallace Cup was fully of plot, development and continuity... it's extremely stupid to even try to say otherwise

Even if said arc, like the entire summer school arc, could be written off as filler itself.

Why? at least for me: recurring character = important ep
We had Rowan (and his assistants), Conway and Angie
Also, TRio mention the summer school in the very next ep complete with an imagination scene of Jessie with the kids from these eps
It wasn't filler at all...

Well most of what I have to say has already been said, but yes I enjoyed the mini arcs. Pokemon summer school was great fun and a novel idea, I particularly like Ash acting ubercompetitive and a bit of a kid again, as well as Dawn coping (rather well) with a Grimer.
I loved the Wallace cup, the battles were all brilliant, and we got to see May again.
As for the Galactic arc, that was some of the best writing we've got out of Pokemon (giving us a proper build up to the finale and some great villains with real personalities).
The twinleaf town arc could have been a bit more exciting however.

and Kyle should have been Ursula.

That would mess up her background.
Remember, Ursula said that she had problems passing the first round as well. When Dawn passed in the Wallace Cup and she didn't, she thought that it was a fluke and that's why she hated Dawn (and also motivated herself to improve).
Plus I kinda liked Kyle.

Did you enjoy the mini-arcs this saga?

Yes, I found them to be better than most stand-alone episodes.
