When I was 4-6ish my dream home was called the tulip house. At first it was pretty simple, it was just going to be shaped like a tulip. Then it became a crazy 600+ skyscraper with different things on each floor (guess what made me think of it lmao).

Then when I was 11 l wanted a 4-story mansion with a very specific floor plan. I wanted to be a movie star and have this ridiculous custom-built house. The first floor had stuff like living room, dining room, etc. the second floor had my bedroom which had a bunk bed and a huge walk in closet with a daybed. The third floor was mostly a huge dance floor, maybe with a small stage? And dressing rooms. The top floor was a bit more complex, because part of it was outdoors. It had a guest apartment, hot tub, and two huge observatories with telescopes and a walkway between them that I called the “grand celestial hallway”. I recreated this mansion as best as I could in a program called HomeDesigner. I made a bunch of other weird houses in there too, it was a blast lol.

I’m thinking it also had a “Christmas living room”. Yes, a seperate living room for Christmas and Christmas stuff only. I was obsessed with this concept because I went to an estate sale as a kid at a crazy huge house with a ton of rooms and one of them was labeled the “Christmas Living Room” because that’s where they grouped all the Christmas decor.

When i was younger i actually didnt have a plan for my future house as i still wanted to live with my parents at the time. I have autism so i didnt know what i wanted to do in life or what i wanted my house to look like. Even today i still dont have anything in mind for my future house though i want to move out of my parent's house when i can.

i don't think, even when i was younger, that i wanted anything too grandiose. there were more than a few moments in my life where i'd be more than comfortable living in a cottage in the woods, away from the busy-ness of day to day life, just so i can be around nature a bit more. while i've come down to earth a bit more from that, the general desire still remains that my dream home be somewhere with a lot of nature around, but also simultaneously not far away from the rest of civilization. a conundrum, really.

maybe living in a suburb that's within walking distance of a local park or something would do for me, idk.
