Approved by TM2-Megatron.

Inspired partly by Bulbapedia's trivia, here you can post little-known facts and interesting obscurities about the Pokemon games. For example:

*A female Azurill can evolve into a male Marill
*Shellos was originally meant to be in Ruby and Sapphire
*Latias and Blaziken were once one Pokemon
*There is no Route 23 in HeartGold and SoulSilver
*Moltres has been obtainable in six different regions; Kanto, Johto, Sinnoh, Orre, Oblivia, and the Sevii Islands
*Pokemon Gold and Silver were once known as Pokemon 2
*NidoranF can breed, while Nidorina and Nidoqueen can't
*Charizard and Rhyhorn share the same cry
*There existed 31 different cries in Generation 1. The rest were variations of the originals.
*Mew was programmed into Red and Green without the knowledge of Nintendo
*Leaf appeared in artwork of Generation 1, only to make her first appearance, after being completely redesigned, in Generation 3
*Poliwhirl is Satoshi Tajiri's favorite Pokemon, and thus inspired to be Red's - from Pokemon Special - first Pokemon

I'm looking forward to reading what other cool facts you guys know.

Did you know... Pokemon Black and Whites Isshu region is based around Shanghai, China. All the other regions are based around Japan.

I think this thread is mainly intended for confirmed information. While likely, I don't think that's yet confirmed.

In The Legend of Thunder!, when Marina's Jigglypuff uses Sing, it has no affect on Beedrill. Jimmy states that its wings beat so fast that they blocks all sound waves before they reach its ears. Despite this statement, Beedrill cannot have the ability Soundproof.

I put that bit of trivia in myself. The Legend of Thunder! was the first episode of Pokemon I watched, and I knowit almost off by heart. On a side note, in said feature episode, in the English translation, Eusine's name is pronounced Eugene. I call him Eugene 'cos when I watched For Ho-oh the Bells Toll, I din't like Eusine's attitude, whereas in The Legend of Thunder! he was more cool I think. I liked his voice actor.

That as of gen IV, Thunder can break through protect/detect in rain?

In Crystal, if the player plays Entei's cry in the Pokédex, then switches to Suicune or Raikou before the cry ends, the cry of Suicune or Raikou is changed.

In Pokémon Gold and Silver's sprite, Raikou's facial design does not match its official artwork, but this was corrected in Crystal.

Interestingly, Sinnoh has an index number location programmed into Generation IV for it, despite the fact that all Sinnoh locations are programmed into the games already. This index location is at #2006, while coincidentally, Sinnoh's first games, Pokémon Diamond and Pearl, were released in Japan in that year. This does not happen for the other three regions programmed in (i.e. Kanto is 2003, not 1996, Johto is 2004, not 1999, and Hoenn is 2005, not 2002). This data is unused during normal gameplay (i.e. without hacking); Pokémon from Sinnoh traded to a game taking place in Johto display their normal "met at" area, much like Pokémon from Kanto do when traded to Emerald.

Skitty and wailord can breed... disturbing and interesting at the same time...

-In Gen. 1, Focus Energy actually lowered your chance of getting a critical hit instead of raising it.
-In Gen. 1, Softboiled was a TM despite only one Pokemon (excluding Mew) being able to learn it.
-In R/S, a trainer will jump off a ledge to battle you. This was changed in E.

Got some more.

Arcanine Might have been meant as the original Trio Master for the Kanto Legendary Birds.

Crawdaunt's original English name was going to be "Lobstar".

If a Pokemon from Colosseum is traded onto a GBA game & then traded again to XD, it will still say it was caught in a distant land even though it was technically caught in Orre; the region that both Colosseum & XD take place in.

Steven isthe only champion to not use any water type pokemon. Ironically, he is replaced by Wallace in Emerald who uses only water type pokemon.

In R/B (dunno about Yellow...) you can use the Pokedoll on the ghost in the Lavender tower and it will have the same affect as if you used the Silph Scope and you can continue with the story.
