So, how difficult do you think Pokemon games are? I personally think they are far too easy. The game's repetitiveness makes it easy to beat everyone with a single guy. Sorry if this thread's been made already.

It depends on how you're playing I guess. If it's only beating the Elite Four, it's easy. If we're talking about the Battle Tower, well, that's a different story.

It's easy unless you want to get involved with competitive battling. That's where the real gameplay and strategy is.

WiFi is what makes the games worthwhile, IMHO.

Am I the only one who thinks the Gym Leaders are tough?

Well, I dont really play too many video games.

The in game story overall is easy. Some of the early gyms can be a pain depending on which starter you choose, but with a little extra level grinding early on, its not really a problem. Playing the elite four and the champion in fire red and leaf green after you beat them the first time is a nice challenge since they have all there pokes level 65 to 70+ if (I remember right). Even though the main challenge is just having enough PP to make it through the whole stretch.

The WiFi making it possible to play against real people gives more of a challenge and ultimately gives the game staying power.

The games are really easy. The only reason there's any challenge possible is because when you're playing against other people you don't have any real advantage unless you are legitimately better than those people, or worked harder. This applies to any multiplayer game. But by yourself, the games are a cakewalk.

Yeah, isn't that part of the appeal?

the games are as hard as you make them......

sure you can pick up pokemon diamond and speed play it in maybe a day and a half(??) if you want, just beating the elite four. thats an easy game, you can up your own difficulty by, catching every pokemon on your way to the E4, ok still not a very hard game, but the difficulty bar has sure been raised. and well it goes on from there, ev train all your pokes, only use one type of poke, catch all pokes from the other games, collect all the "difficult words" get the perfect secret base with all crystals, not cosider the game compleate until you have the best trainer card............. then of course there is WIFI (as others have said) wich opens up a whole new realm of play.

well there we go, IMO Pokemon is only as easy as you want to make it! if your finding it to easy i challenge you restart your game and promise yourself that you'll only use one type of poke all game, right through to wifi play, then see how easy it is! (maybe even record on here your 'adventure' so we can all see)

So let's say I want to eat a banana, the easiness depends wether if I want to just eat it or if I want to eat it while hanging upside down, with closed eyes, and eating it through my nose? I guess yeah, it depends on how you want to play the game.

After the E4 the difficulty climbs a bit, but they're not too difficult. Especially gold and silver E4.

I think they're in the middle. One of the things I've always appreciated about the Pokemon games is that the battles aren't, like, real fast, and A is for one move, B for another, so forth, as I don't really have very fast reflexes. I usually panic too easily in most video games. Even the first Crash Bandicoot.

Plus, Pokemon kind of makes it more your own, know what I mean. I've come up with what I like to call PokeGardening as a training stragedy. I keep going back to water my berries, that way I make sure to go through the grass a lot, and battle more wild Pokemon. It makes me feel like I have a green thumb.

My brother, when he used to play, would take long to get from one town to another. Wouldn't get to the next town, until his Pokemon were at a certain level.

I think that you choose how difficult the game can be. If you grind high amounts of levels, the game will be quite easy. But if you don't fight too many wild Pokemon, you can make the gyms and other battles more difficult.

Yeah Tate and Liza were a real challenge for me I only won by just using my Skarmory only in Emerald (I chose Mudkip)

But except for the Kanto League E4 and Gary the games were pretty easy

I'd say the games minus Kanto E4 were easy, FR/LG was hard to beat the E4, especially the second time for me. This might be why games don't last long enough for me, its not so easy getting to a point in games, but then it gets a lot easier from that point onwards.

Maybe if you had two difficulty settings when you start the game, when you got to a certain point in game you could set all trainers with higher level pokemon and gym leaders to have "EV Trained" pokemon like battle tower standard. That would make things harder and make the game a little more challenging as you would have to think more of what pokemon would be good to defeat another pokemon. But supposing that might be a little difficult since unless you defeat a certain gym and get that badge, certain stats of pokemon can't be raised beyond a point, like sp atk.

This is something I've wanted to happen SO much. That, and overhauled AI.

You see the main storyline is easy. But they made it easy so you could get on to the significantly harder parts such as completing the pokedex and In emerald and platinum, the battle frontier. So I would say it's a medium difficult RPG.

I don't know if this is actually true, and as far as I know most people don't play like this, but to me it seems like the Game has a ''Difficult'' setting that is often overlooked.

Shift and Set = Normal and Hard?

The story of the game (badges and E4) are not that hard, but usually, the game as a whole is quite difficult to complete. Pokdedex, attaining an actually desirable team with really awesome stats, any shinys, these things usually take a lot of time and effort that most kids just don't have.
