So it aired tonight on Toon Disney (US), and I thought it rocked.

My thoughts, copied from the With the Will forums:

The Bad:
-Opening theme sucks eggs. But it's still better than the 1-3 season theme.
-Title screen needs oomph, and reading it aloud is too Pokémon for me. What happened to just putting the ep title on the beginning of the episode?
-Marcus didn't shout as much as the animation looks like it would require.
-Lalamon's voice was irritating. But that's just me, I don't like the high-pitched voices (and yes, I know she sounded pretty much exactly the same in Japanese. That still doesn't make it good).
-Does anyone use the phrase "hamburger stand" any more? They could have at least made up a fake name for the place.
-Marcus is surprised that Yoshino knows his name, but didn't he shout it out right in front of her before he battled Agumon? Even if it was the same in Japanese, it's still a silly mistake.
-Stupid Toon Disney showing that annoying-ass "You're watching Digimon!" thing taking up half the screen. But that's on all their shows and hardly specific to this.

The Good:
-Pretty much everything else. Here's some specifics:
-Holy crap, Jamieson Price's voice is sexier than...well, as much as I fangirl him, usually his voice isn't *sexy*. But as Sampson, it's very much so.
-I love the differences between people calling her Yoshino vs Yoshi
-Reairing at 10! I don't have to be late for class for it then!

And a side note--Batman: The Animated Series started airing today as well. This is a good day to be an animation geek.

Personally I liked Digimon's Disney Dubs... I just wish I got Toon Disney! (Why can't it still be on abcfamily!?! Stupid Tweens! (wanting reruns of live action shows from before they were born)

I know! I've never missed a single Digimon episode till they took it out of ABC Family (and I know the chances of me getting Toon Disney is about 1%...) Why did they have to take out Jetix and mess that up for me!?! I love Digimon... And still do to this day... :(

At least America still gets it...

This is my post from Pokémon Arena:

My review:

This is the best we've gotten since Digimon Adventure 02, in my opinion.

The dub...they're doing a great job. Marcus' voice is great, it sounds like a cross between Matt from Digimon Adventure, and Sonic from Sonic X. Agumon sounds like Takato from Digimon Tames but more monsterous. I love both of these voices and I think Agumon's would be really easy for me to imitate.

I watched this episode (and more of the series) in Japanese a long time ago...April 2006, when it premeired there. I'm liking the English version...

Anyway, I look forward to watching the series again, and this is a great dub...but I still can't get over the fact that we missed the crotch shot, and how they changed the emotional "Digisoul" into a DNA thing...

And Masaru claimed to be the best street fighter in Japan, while Marcus wants to become the champion Ultimate Fighter? ...O_O

Oh, and they changed "aniki" (a Japanese term meaning what one would call someone they consider a brother, although usually not biologically) to "boss and employee".

How often are they going to air new episodes of this? I need to watch it, since I saw Savers in Japan.

New episodes air every Monday, except this week we get episode 2 on Friday (after that Friday's will be repeats of Monday's episode).

Oh, you go to WtW Blackjack, that's cool, it's always nice to see Pokemon fans that are Digimon fans as well.

Thanks for the link XD, That was actually a good dub. I think it was a good idea to make Augmon call him boss, but I think they should have made it street-punk style boss, making Masaru call him his underling, henchman, or something. It fits the personality better.

According to Mr. Nimoy, the "employee" thing is just a bit of a joke, based on Agumon calling Masaru "boss". It won't really pop up much in future episode.

Also, apparently DNA doesn't stand for what we think it stands. That will be explained in a future episode.

Anyone other than I lol'd when they said Digimon Savers is sponsored by Pokemon D/P?

when will we get a dub of digimon that keeps the music intact? to be honest, i really didn't like the dub music very much, and i would think that these days that the dubbers of any company other then 4kids and PUSA would be smart enough to know better then to change it all like that. i know that the show has lots of vocal music in it, but that's no reason not to just dub the songs into english like One Piece just started doing. i honestly was hoping they would have done that for once.

meh.... thanks to 4kids's crap synthesizers (and Blackjack's words, to some extent), I've warmed up a bit to dub Digimon music. It's pretty tolerable, especially so far as inhouse dub music goes (the fact that they actually bother to orchestrate this stuff really helps).... back in the day, I was unrelenting about the music-changing, but looking back, I guess I mainly bashed on the dub music because I found the Japanese track infinitely superior once I heard it (and I still do... to this day, it ranks among my favorite anime soundtracks), and also because it reminded me too much of the music from that mid-90s Spider-Man cartoon (not to say it sucks, but.... sheesh, did Saban do some recycling, or what?). In any case, Savers's music didn't quite stack up to the earlier series (and X-Evolution, assuming you count that separately) IMO, so it's not too great a loss. If it's any consolation, uncutpokemon, I did notice that they're finally keeping in the original sound effects.

As for my other comments, the dub was pretty good. I'm kinda iffy on Marcus wanting to be some world champion, as opposed to simply being a street fighter that kicks the ass of anyone who crosses him (I'm sorry, but the way the dub has it makes it sound like another cheesy "boy follows his dream to be the best through competition" type of shounen anime... and yes, I am aware of the irony that this whole forum is based off one of those). Otherwise, I thought several of the voices were pretty great, even matching the tone of the Japanese ones very closely. I also think Kudamon's worth a mention. His voice seems a lot lower compared to the original, but I give it props because it still manages to have that ambiguous flavor to it (I swear to god, Japanese Kudamon sounds exactly like Renamon... I was actually shocked when I discovered Yuka Imai had no involvement with the character).

Yep! The music in the Saban Digimon dub was, for the most part, originally used in Masked Rider!

Having never seen Masked Rider, I'm not sure how well it fit in that show...

I was really pleasantly surprised by this dub, and I can't wait for more.

The only thing that bothered me was Kamemon speaking, and his voice was too goofy. It sort of ruins the joke that appears in Episode 30.

I know it won't happen, but I hope they'll leave the Latin Opera theme that plays usually during the Burst Evolutions.

Well all I got to say is watch the subbed version called digimon savers It's much better.

Seeing how the script of Data Squad is rather faithful to the original, the only thing Savers has for it is less embarrassing names, as far as I'm concerned. Savers wasn't much of a find in the first place. =P

I won't be able watch Data Squad since my sister be watching living tv most of the time.

So I may had to watch it online.
