Come one come all to the Digimon Fan Club! Talk about all five seasons, the movies, the cards, the toys, the comics, and everything involved therein!

Oh yes, any topic put forth in this thread will be open-ended (unless it's maybe something like "what do you think will happen next?" which'll end when the "next" happens), so feel free to answer any question at any time.

Also, crack is encouraged, as are tangents. Heck, I'm making this club after Snake Bandage and I got off on a tangent about Oikawa's height in the TR fan club ("tall" is what I figure. Hahahaha), so following in that vein is perfectly all right.

Fics and art are more than welcome! However, since I'm the fanfic mod, can you post the fics there and just give a link in here?

And finally, if you like Digimon and you post in the thread, you're in. No asking permission required, no passwords or anything. We're an open-ended club.

So, first question--favorite Digidestined (used here as an umbrella term for any of the heroic tamers from any of the seasons) and favorite Digimon?

My favorite DD is JP Shibayama from Frontier. He's incredibly awesome. Sure he starts off as a total jerk, but that's just a front. He's brave but still has his phobias, kind, smart (ok, maybe not book smart, but he's clever), and adorable (don't you wanna just pinch his cheeks and give him a pat on the head?)

My favorite Digimon is...ok, I'll be honest. I like it basically entirely because of who its partner is--Datirimon. You know, the little tomato-thing that showed up at the end of season 2 to be Oikawa's partner after so many years...and then got left alone when he decided to be butterflies (ok, not that I could blame him; the safety of the Digital World was a lot more important than any one creature, but y'know)? It has no evo line and only one known attack. But it's adorable!

I'm not sure I can pick a favorite chosen child. I really like Taichi, and Hikari was cool back in the first season. Ruki is great as well.

Favorite digimon is another tough one. I really liked Tailmon in the first season (I just love cats in general) but in the second season she was beyond wimpified. Guilmon is also extremely cute, and Renamon's seriousness is a nice change of pace from the usual happy go lucky digimon the kids get paired up with.

Ooh club.

My favorite Chosen Child is Iori. It makes me sad that people don't like him just because he's a little kid with a bad haircut. Like it's his fault. He's just so... earnest. The most sincere child ever. And he gets the best character arcs too. I just feel an urge to hug him.

As for Digimon. Um. Well, I can never decide between Arukenimon and Mummymon. Both of them! If I say more I'd start frothing at the mouth or something.

I think if someone doesn't want to hug Iori, there's something wrong with them. He's probably the most huggable DD...that is he would be if he wasn't so uptight. But being friends with (or even in the proximity of) Yolei ought to loosen him up a bit.

Say, how do you think they got to be such good friends anyway? First time we see them, he's looking at her ADORINGLY. It's so cute.

He's not as uptight as people make him out to be. He's only über-polite when he's feeling uncomfortable. The thing is, he's paired with Daisuke and Miyako, who are extremely energetic, when Iori is a quiet, thoughtful kid in the first place. Their extremity makes him seem more serious than he really is. But he knows to laugh and smile and play just like everyone. I think he'd actually have a better reaction to hugs than Koushirou.

I assume Miyako met Iori in the elevator, exactly like they met Takeru. She initiated the conversation, of course, because she's Miyako like that.

The indication I got was that they'd known each other for a bit before then, but I can't think of why (have to see that ep again, only have the tape in raw).

Huh. I also got the feeling he had an aversion to physical contact, but again can't think of any specific instances.

You know, it occurs to me that as (over)protective as Chikara was of his son, having his grandson be a celebrity hero is going to be absolute hell on him. I can see him walking in the apartment one day and announcing to Cody and Fumiko "That's it! We're taking a vacation in the mountains!" and Cody would be all "But I have school!" and Chikara would be all "I'll teach you myself if I have to! Get packed and make sure no reporters follow us!"

...ohlawd. Just thought of the perfect digimon for Chikara--Deputymon.

This is why I shouldn't post stuff when I'm barely awake. I think they've known each other for a while too. What I meant was that they probably met each other in the elevator when they moved to the building in 2001 (in the Adventure Original Story CD drama, Yamato says in March 2002 that the building Takeru is moving into was built the previous year). That's what I meant.

Iori doesn't seem to have anything against physical contact. I mean, he was the one who hugged Takeru when Shakkoumon was formed! It's Koushirou who's a bit "um that's nice how about you get off of me now".

Pfft, Revolmon is way too goofy for Chikara. He'd go nuts. Give him a cute little Kotemon, that'd be hilarious.

ExACTly.
But they're both all about the law and order, even if they go about it in...very different ways.

By the way, you're more versed in the Japanese version than I am--what was the reason given there for him splitting up Hiroki and Yukio? In the English version it was something like "they were spending too much time together" (which we all know is code, but hey).

Actually, I don't know either. I've watched it in Japanese and understood most of what was being said (it's great that Arukenimon and Mummymon are so childish, their Japanese is relatively simple that way), but the story of Hiroki and Yukio's separation was one of the things that requires a larger vocabulary to understand. I'd love to know what happened there too.

And something that was never really brought to attention is that they were clearly seeing each other anyway, since we see them together as teenagers and as young adults. If they'd been apart for years between the gaps, that probably would have been said.
But it's worth noticing given that Hiroki was *also* a law and order type and yet directly defied his father to go hang out with Yukio. But then Hiroki wasn't nearly as uptight as his old man.

Yes yes I love this website yes? Yes. Yes yes. <3

*is still gleeing crazily about it*

...wait Lugia where. o_O

In the gift art section.

What's with that site's assumption that Oikawa was physically abusive to Arukenimon? I mean yes, Myotismon probably *WANTED* to be, towards both of them, but I think Myo is smart enough to realize that his current body posessed only human strength and human defensive capabilities, so to attack a digimon of that level would lead to PAAAAAAAIN in ways that attacking them using his own body wouldn't, so he'd have to restrain himself.

Well, it's not exactly as far as I'd take it personally, but I can kind of see it... I mean, come on, it doesn't take him much to get pissy and start kicking at things and yelling.

Besides I dunno if I can complain I mean dude hurt/comfort. ._. And in most pictures Oikawa seems almost... likes he cares about them? I dunno. ._.;

I think the caring is the real Oikawa while the other part is Myo. Which is why I think it'd be somewhat strange, given that Myo's a smart guy, and he's posessing a smart guy (moment of irrational barganing aside).

Taking it out on humans I can certainly see, though.

You know, though, this is not really Vamdemon. It's VenomVamdemon. And he sacrificed his aristocracy for more power, so he's a brutal bastard in addition to being frighteningly intelligent. He's the kind of guy that destroys entire buildings (and giant ferris wheels, poor Daikanransha) in a second when he gets the chance. The Vamdemon that's possessing Oikawa is "Venomized", so he's far more likely to explode at people.

Arukenimon and Mummymon seem respectful and a bit frightened of him at the same time (Aru's a lot crankier about it all though). Maybe by now they know what he's capable of when he's really angry and they don't like it?

Even so though, he knows he's in a far weaker body than he's accustomed to.

I notice this site picks up on another aspect of Oikawa that you did and for some reason never occured to me--the sweet tooth. There's that comic where he buys them all fancy cake and busts down the door and yells at them to eat it (or something, he yells at them and they eat it). And that's hilariously IC because he has to rectify doing something nice for them and being their overlord all at once...

Even so though, he knows he's in a far weaker body than he's accustomed to.

And you really think he cares? Come on, this is Vamdemon, he's a sadist, he HAS to let out some steam sometimes.

Hee. Before I went to this website it just never occurred to me how silly it is that Oikawa's eating a cake and downing a milkshake when we first see him. I just love that sweet tooth idea, makes him seem human still (despite the zombification).
Man, I am so adding that to Yuki's character in my fic. Gotta have Hiroki teasing him about it.

Given that Myo is a sadist, which is why I think he'd take it out on creatures that *can't* cause severe damage to his current body. And now I want to read a fic where "he" goes off on Ken's father at work and everyone's like "...this is the guy who never said two words to anybody?"

I love how Oikawa downs the milkshake in a single gulp. It's all "...what?" And that's the FIRST THING WE SEE HIM DO moreover. And he ordered the happiest Christmas cake ever (even if all he wound up doing was poking it with his fork).

So...um...so as not to scare off people who don't share our love for the minor characters, we should issue a general topic. How about "favorite goggleboy"?
I like Takato myself. He's an ordinary kid in pretty much every sense and that's still reflected by the end of the series. He's changed, yes, but in his heart he's still the same kid. You know what I mean?

Just because Aru and Mumm could seriously injure Oikawa with no trouble doesn't mean they actually WOULD. They're blindly loyal to him, they'd NEVER do anything to harm him. Even if he like, breaks a vase on Mumm's head (oh lol), Mumm would take it quietly and just go and patch his head up because Oikawa is his boss and Mumm would take anything from him. Aru'd bitch about it to Mumm, but she's loyal to Oikawa too so she'd never do something to hurt him back.

Favorite goggleboy? Um. Well, I should probably say Takato, since he's a giant sweetie and a budding artist and I love his character growth, but... naw. He's not "goggleboy" enough to me. He's a normal kid with goggles, he doesn't quite have the spunk it takes to be a goggleboy. Daisuke sure does, though, and that's why he's my favorite. He's doofy and bumbling, and more than a bit full of himself... not the most leaderly thing around. But he's spunky and passionate, and is the most trusting, compassionate and optimistic goggleboy of them all. He just has the hugest heart in the entire freakin' multiverse, I luffers that kid. I swear he'd be friends with benign pond scum if he could.
