A thread to discuss the latest series of Digimon, which is currently airing its second saga: The Boy Hunters Who Leap Through Time.

What can I say, hmm, I'm pretty happy Damemon is back. That will definitely make future episodes more enjoyable to me!

The series itself is still lacking something for me. I don't know, really, plot perhaps? I'm definitely loving Tagiru (no I don't find him annoying, he's quite amusing) and Airu (what can I say, LOL) so far as well as the small arguments between Yuu and Tagiru. What I wanna know is the plot of the series and does the fact both Tagiru and Taiki have red Xloader really impact anything. I dunno, I like some parts but I hope that just like the previous XW series, this one also kicks up a notch after a few episodes. I'll definitely be watching!

The DigiQuartz is going to have a secret revealed next month so I'm hoping that will expand on the story a little bit.

I'm guessing those who have Xros Loaders that have a red-shade have the power to change the Digital World? Taiki was always singled out for that, and it seemed that neither Kiriha, Nene or Yuu could do it. I guess Tagiru will save it from whatever the DigiQuartz is doing?

And urgh, Tagiru xD Personally not the greatest fan of him, though I do find Ren worse.

You have found Pidove!

Nope, definitely dislike Tagiru the most... I like all of the antagonistic hunters, though. :p I don't hate Ren because I like the dynamic his jerkass sadism adds to the three, but I will agree that I probably like him the least xDD

On the protagonists' side I like Yuu and Taiki infinitely more than I like Tagiru...

I think Ren would probably be more exciting if he were a bit more pro-active rather than standing in the corner and being hipsterish. It doesn't help that Dracumon hasn't really said or done much either (as opossed to actually seeing Astamon and Opossumon fight, let alone interact for the latter's case).

Extended summary for tommorow's episode is out. It doesn't look to be the best of episodes but hopefully the summary is just underselling it xD

Ren just seems to be the type that doesn't want to get involved unless it means he can watch shit burn. :p
At least, that seems to be the impression that I've gotten from his appearances. :p

I just think out of all the antagonists he's the most oriented towards not heel-face-turning. Which is a trope that's been done before, but I generally like things like that xD

My only problem with this series is Tagiru and his happy-go-lucky cliche personality.

What's the point to keep Taiki around at the main character group if they planned a new protagonist for the 3rd season? And have I to believe Tagiru's and Gumdramon's goal is surpass Taiki and Shoutmon? After two whole "seasons" fighting Burgra Army and Shoutmon's struggle to be the holy freaking Digimon King? Just to have a whole new digi-character wanting to surpass him, like, almost right after? With Taiki around? Really?

Yeah, I hated how they keep Taiki and Shoutmon just for the sake to "promote" Tagiru and Gumdramon. I'm fine with Yuu, because his development didn't end at all, but, there's no point to put Tagiru as the main character with Taiki around and vice versa.

Anyway, except for that, I'm fine with Xros Wars' 3rd season. It's better than Zero Two was to Adventures, after all.

Agree so hard.

Tagiru doesn't have the personality whatsoever of someone who is worthy enough to surpass Taiki, who still goes down as probably the best male-lead the Digimon meta has ever had...

IMO taigru is my least favorite character in the series...he's just plain annoying for some reason.
I'm looking forward to next ep...its also been better then 02 at the same point.

This shit seriously isn't over yet? I had to scroll through half the animes on certain anime websites to get access to the episodes I wanted to watch because this thing stuck out like a sore thumb. What's worse is, a lot of the previous seasons might've been awful (more specifically, 02, Frontier, and Savers), but they at least ended within 55 episodes. This... I'd imagine would need at least 80 to have lasted this long? Damn Toei, don't you know when to give up? The world's in a recession and most kids aren't stupid or impressionable enough to keep buying your plushies and DigiPokedex toys -_-

Actually, one of the reasons why Xros Wars got a 2nd saga was because of the cited sales from merchandise.

Crap, so it became the second Digimon anime after Adventure to get a second season through... kids being depraved enough to keep buying worthless plastic toys with pedometer functions? My expectations of this world came plummeting a second or two after I read that.

Oh right, I heard about that. Let's hope it's something amazing!

I hope so, since Taiki hasn't been his old self in terms of importance ever since XW02 began. -_-

And urgh, Tagiru xD Personally not the greatest fan of him, though I do find Ren worse.
I agree so much on this (except on Tagiru), he's in desperate need of a; personality/backstory/meaningful screentime. XD

Taiki was amazing in first Xros Wars series. But now, he's just dull.

I don't see what's everyone's problem is with Tagiru. Sure he has the "happy-go-lucky cliche personality" but he gives life to this series imo and is way more interesting to me than Taiki at the moment.

I don't like Tagiru because the crux of his personality/character development is to be a fanboy, basically. Much like how I always mildly disliked Daisuke, much more in the beginning of 02 (who definitely had more shots at redemption than Tagiru did 5 episodes into the series, as utterly shitty as 02 turned out to be... maybe i'll warm up to him a bit like I had with Daisuke, but so far, EHHHH), I'm peeved at the hero-worship and the overall level of ignorance. The happy-go-lucky personality is exactly what irks me about Tagiru, because when Taiki was the main lead, he was so much smarter, his temperament better controlled, and his story line SO much more poignant. Taiki wanted to assist in the reformation of the Digital World and help Shoutmon become King. We know this from episode 1 and he spends 54 episodes going through hell and back to do so.

Tagiru... wants to surpass Taiki.

Yeah.

[sarcasm] That's fucking endearing. [/sarcasm]

So you're telling me you would prefer another smart, brilliant, awesome boy with nicely handled temperament?

I think it's pretty clear that Tagiru won't ever manage to surpass Taiki and his personality just serves as another further proof of the contrast between the two boys. What I dislike about Taiki in this season that we're not seeing much of him - he is not interesting at all to me and I could live without him being present in this series. But I do believe that they need to give Tagiru some deeper, not just the lame 'I wanna hunt 'em all!' type of motive. Taiki did have a motive in the first series, interesting personality, he wanted to help Shoutmon become the King and all the stuff you just named - his line 'Hottokenai' expressed his personality in the best way possible.

Right now however, Tagiru is just more interesting than Taiki to me. Taiki developed in XW, he overcame the hell itself and helped Shoutmon to become Digimon King - there's nothing more left for Taiki in terms of storyline nor development whereas Tagiru still has potential to become something more of an interesting character.

The part where you said that it's clear that Tagiru won't ever surpass Taiki is EXACTLY what I don't like about his character, actually.

While I do agree that Taiki is severely underused (JUST STAY THE MAIN CHARACTER, GODDAMN!), I disagree that he's the least bit dull. It's Tagiru to me that is dull, because he's just so much more-of-the-same. Interchange Tagiru with all the hot-blooded heroes this metaseries seems to love putting out (with Takato and Taiki being the only breaths of fresh air) and you won't get much of a change. It's the huge differences between Tagiru and Taiki that is exactly what still makes Taiki infinitely the better character... His story continues to build on top of itself. He still fills the mold as leader, still think of all the strategies, but now he's got experience. He's a veteran. He's a hero. He actually stirs a response from the rivals. He assumes duty for what it is, while for Tagiru it's just a game still. I would be more okay with Tagiru if he even showed signs that he is worthy of surpassing Taiki, but just.. absolutely not.

DAMMIT Tagiru, *Crosses fingers so that Taiki/Yuu will force him down a peg or two, or twenty*

Also, yay! Damemon is back, and Airu is a trap master = FUN

also = Ryouma + Evolution Sequence + Badass Partner = WIN, MAGNIFICENT WIN.

Oh, and i was also positively surprised by the Antagonist team's loyalties to eachother.

And i would like Yuu to lash out at Tagiru for thinking its only a game

And i'm anxious to see Ryouma's captured digimon. They Must All Be Badass = FACT

Cheers for the upcoming XW02 episodes!

Episode 061: "Okonomiyaki Panic! The City full of Pagumon!" - Tagiru and Gumdramon have an argument.

Episode 062: "Thriving Digimon Hunt! Shopping District Remarkable Hunt!" A new character appears (the green shirt fellow that stands beside Ryoma in the intro)

Episode 063: "Taiki is being Target! The Super Celebrity Star's Brave Shout!" - Akari returns, she and Taiki have a date.

Episode 064: "Land in Hong Kong! Protect the Super Beauty Idol!!" - An episode about protecting Nene.

NENE AND AKARI! <333333

Gah, I'm so excited for those episodes but it looks like we'll have to go through shit in order to watch them. Not interested in an episode where the pretense is fucking OKONOMIYAKI, as much as I would love some at the moment. It looks lulz from the preview but still.

Also not entirely thrilled that Nene needs protection. Fuck, she was Xrossing 'mons before it was cool. I AM STILL WAITING FOR A SPARROWMON CHOU SHINKA

Some more details on the upcoming episodes have been released, and they're interesting to say the least:

Gumdramon goes into Ryouma's Xros Loader after they argue.

The unknown Hunter in the OP is Mashimo Hideaki. His partner is Dobermon, whom we saw before in Tamers.

Taiki is being attacked by someone in the Akari date episode.

Trailmon (saw in Frontier and last saga of Xros Wars) takes Tagiru, Yuu and Taiki to Hong Kong. Nene is apparantly stressed out due to a stalker. (lol wtf)
