Disappointed with Jessie's role in the GF (spoilers)

Anyone else thinking Jessie's role in the GF isn't playing out as great as we hoped?

In the first ep, we generally just see her do an appeal. OK, that was fine, that ep was rushed with Dawn/rival character interaction and appeals anyway. No problems there.

In the second ep, Jessie gets absolutely no battle screentime. We see 1 still screen of Jessie with Seviper/Yanmega, and that's it. So in other words, Jessie beat someone, but the impact is lessened because we don't get to see it.

In the third ep, we see Nando/Zoey battle and then Dawn/Jessie. We know Jessie will lose in the third ep. But if there are no shots of Jessie beating anyone else in the beginning, then we don't get to see Jessie have any on-screen win in the Grand Festival at all. I mean, what the hell? I wanted to see Jessie beat someone, not this "still screen" garbage because they can't be arsed to show it.

So in the fourth ep, Jessie'll likely just be sulking or whatever, and most of the time will be on the Dawn/Zoey battle anyway. It really feels as if Jessie's being screwed over in terms of screentime, which is mind blowing, because why did they even give her this subplot of making it to the GF in the first place?

Wow, this all happened? Thats crap, they realised they have run out of time before the new Gen and so they are rushing it now, which means someone has to be the scrapgoat and get screwed over. In this case it was Jessie.

Everybody are screwed over. Everybody even Dawn are getting still screens.

So I am not dissapointed.

I'll repeat what was said before, cause I think you missed the point.

Jessie gets Top 4, what more do you want ? She robbed Ursula and Kenny's place as being Dawn's semifinals opponent.

That's really annoying. Jessie deserves better than that. I do like that she got into the top 4 though. ^^

As a Musashi fan I can't say that I'm disappointed in the slighest.

We should be happy that she made it to the GF at all. Actually, we should be thankful that she made it through the appeal round.
Coming to a close, we should be kissing the writer's butts because she made it into the Top 4.

Nothing of this was even remotley realistic back in AG, and even at the start of DP I could have sworn that Musashi will be once again a joke rival. If DP did anything right it was Musashi's journey ( and the Shinji/Hiko plot).

It would be nice to see her crush an opponent at the GF, but we still got decent interaction with Kojiro and Nyarth and this GF isn't even over yet, which means that it is too early to complain.

I'm dissapointed for a different reason. I personally don't like Jessie being in contests, especially as a serious rival *gets trampled by Jessie fans*

I'd much rather be seing Kenny here instead.

Hopefully she puts a good battle. Even though it's Jessie, it would be dumb to have her get to the Top 4 just to get beaten badly.

While I am happy she made it up to the Grand Festival and was finally taking Contests seriously. I do however hate that she isn't getting any screen time in the Grand Festival. I wanted to see her beat some one here before loosing to Dawn. As it is, I'm not sure contests will be here next Generation.

In the first ep, we generally just see her do an appeal. OK, that was fine, that ep was rushed with Dawn/rival character interaction and appeals anyway. No problems there.

True, we didn't see the full appeal, but we have not seen the full appeal from Nando either.

In the second ep, Jessie gets absolutely no battle screentime. We see 1 still screen of Jessie with Seviper/Yanmega, and that's it. So in other words, Jessie beat someone, but the impact is lessened because we don't get to see it.

Both Nando and Zoey were also given one shots of battle screentime this episode as well. Only Dawn and Ursula received a full battle here.
Not to mention that all three of them (and Dawn) will be clearing through the next battle rounds with nothing more than their victory poses.

Again, the majority of the other rivals weren't given full battles up until the semifinal round.
This is perhaps the only "real" battle screentime that Jessalina will receive during the Grand Festival. I know that you're angry that she gets obliterated by Dawn, but at least she makes it to the Top 4. Had she been paired with one of the "stronger" coordinators earlier, Jessalina probably would have been eliminated at a much lower placement.
Jessalina has constantly been shown as the "dark horse" coordinator. She has never really won once against any of the remaining rivals, and have lost multiple times against two of them. Simply put, she doesn't devote as much time to her contest training as the other coordinators, mostly because she is spending too much time following the group all the time.

The writers had planned out the Dawn/Zoey matchup for the finals since the beginning. You can't say that Jessie is being screwed out in terms of screentime. Truth be told, Nando is going to receive about the same amount of screentime that she does. They get two (maybe three) small victory poses, only to get the one match in the semifinal (where they both lose).

She's in the Top 4, I don't see a reason for me to be disappointed in Jessie's role. It's shows that she is improving. While showing a battle would be nice, it isn't her show, and I really wasn't expecting anything other than Dawn and any other rival vs rival fight shown.

Considering I've spent weeks on here proclaiming that Musashi had no chance at winning a single battle in the Grand Festival, I'm pretty happy with how things have turned out, to put it mildly. Yeah it sucks we wont see her battle much aside from still shots, but she's actually gotten a lot more screentime than I thought she would, and it sounds like she'll put up a pretty good fight next week against Hikari.

Well, what did you expect? Jessie is only a pseudo-rival within contests. (or so I think). She has and always will play second fiddle to Dawn. I think you ought to be glad she got as far as she did.

And who knows, maybe her battle with Dawn will be close call, to give Jessie's own contest arc a decent closure.

Theres really no need to show her battles. The only reason Nando and Zoey's battle is being shown is because they're both main rivals of Dawn so they have to show them battle to explain how the one that lost was eliminated. If Dawn was battling both Nando and Zoey then we wouldn't see either of their battles except for their ones against Dawn

Theres really no need to show her battles.

Jessie is also an overall main character of the series, not just a rival. We should have seen at least parts of Jessie beating some filler character in the GF. I did not feel any impact of Jessie's progress in this GF, because all her battles were off-screen.

If we don't see something, it feels like it never happened, even though it did. And considering Jessie making it to Top 4 is outrageous in itself, you'd think they'd show her struggle to get there, not just blowing kisses to the camera.

I'm not at all disappointed, I'm very happy that she even made it. She played fair throughout it, and we still didn't see how good the battle was in DP176. Jessie's ribbons are significant from what they're made out of I noticed:

Her 1st ribbon was by her released pokemon Dustox, who won her, her very 1st ribbon and had a similar love story like she did.

Her 2nd ribbon was by Yanmega, a Pokemon who she used a lot during this Grand Festival.

Her 3rd was by James, who really worked hard to help out a friend, when Jessie was terribly ill.

Her 4th was by Seviper, who has been with her for ages, and who wasn't even considered to even be elligible for contests period.

Her 5th was given by a Princess for having an amazing contest battle, and the fact that at first, she wasn't willing to accept it shows her growth.

Jessie making it to the Top 4 just proves that this GF has no real competition whatsoever. You would've to be preeetty bad to lose to Jessie of all people. :p

But that's actually the reason why Jessie needs battle screentime, even more than Nando or Zoey. She's the one who has to prove she can make it past a battle round, much less Top 4.

That's the thing, Jessie and Jesselina are 2 totally different personas, while the same people.

Jesselina has fans, can battle in contests pretty well, and is loved by many.

Jessie strives to be, what Jesselina was created to do what she is doing now.

Jesselina is a very good coordinator, I believe that Top 4 is very well deserved.

Beggers can't be choosers and we really should be happy she made it at all.
