Hey guys— Ghost here.
I recently picked up my Soul Silver game after a while and decided to try to catch all the legendaries available. Now, I know I can't get Arceus because the event is over (*weep*) which means no Giratina, Palkia, and/or Dialga (*weep again*). I haven't caught the legendary dogs or Latias/Latios (mostly cause I don't know how yet... ^^"), although I do have Ho-oh and Celebi. Therefore, I instead decided to catch Mewtwo. Yes, I haven't caught it yet and no, I did not realize I could get it at first.

Anyway, I wanted to ask a couple questions...
1) Should I use my Master Ball to catch Mewtwo?
2) What exactly are all the legendaries you can catch in Soul Silver?
3) What is your favorite opportunity in Soul Silver?
4) Do you think newer Pokémon games should also allow 2 regions and 16 badges?
5) I know it's old news now, but who else was super stoked that they remade Silver and Gold?
6) Do you think they'll ever remake Crystal?

1) probably best, yes.
2) Legendary beasts and birds, both members of the johto duo, one of the eon duo and I think that's about it.
1) Ah, okay :/ I wanted to catch him in a Moon Ball but that didn't work out.
2) Wow...! That's a lot. Seems I've got quite a bit to do! Thanks :)

1) Should I use my Master Ball to catch Mewtwo?

Only if you don't think you can catch it with something else.

2) What exactly are all the legendaries you can catch in Soul Silver?

Lugia, Ho-oh, Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo, Latios, Groudon, and Rayquaza if you trade over a Kyogre from Heart Gold (but since Wi-Fi is gone, you probably won't be able to do that unless you know someone that has HG or buy it yourself).

4) Do you think newer Pokémon games should also allow 2 regions and 16 badges?

Absolutely not. I think both regions suffered from being lumped in the same game.

5) I know it's old news now, but who else was super stoked that they remade Silver and Gold?

Well considering Silver was my first game, of course.

1) Ah, okay :/ I wanted to catch him in a Moon Ball but that didn't work out.

Moon Balls only work on Pokemon that evolve with a Moon Stone. You'll want to use Dusk Balls and Timer Balls.

6) Do you think they'll ever remake Crystal?

Never considering everything from Crystal was added to HGSS.

Really? Ah, I guess that explains it... I thought it still worked (pfft shows how much I know even after playing for so long XD)

Very true; although, with new animation and mega evolutions, it would be really cool to see

Did you use your master ball already? I wouldn't - as long as you save in front of Mewtwo with a good stock of ultra balls, you can keep trying indefinitely until you capture him. I'd save it for those roaming legendaries since they run immediately upon encountering them and you can never really know when one is about to spring out at you.

Except it's pointless now, you may as well be asking for a remake of HGSS.
Yes, but what are HGSS? Just a remake of Gold and Silver ;)

No, I haven't used it yet. I never use my Master Balls. They end up sitting forever. But yeah, those runaway legendaries are a pain with all the fleeing :/ That's a good tip, thanks

Even for the runners, I'd say you can make out without a Master Ball by catching a Wobbuffet in Cerulean Cave. Shadow Tag keeps them from escaping, and it has enough bulk to survive against them for quite a few turns.

But they do more than Crystal did, Crystal was 95% the same game as GS and only really added the Battle Tower, animated sprites, and Suicune's subplot. HGSS did much, much more for the originals, including all of Crystal's improvements.

Meh, I don't like conversations that could become argument, so I'll agree to disagree. I do like your points though ^_^

1) Should I use my Master Ball to catch Mewtwo?

Probably, although I'm saying this as someone who has never been able to catch Legendaries without one. (Cloned Master Balls, FTW.)

2) What exactly are all the legendaries you can catch in Soul Silver?

Not counting trading, you can get Lugia, Ho-Oh, the Legendary Dogs (Entei and Raikou are roamers), the Legendary Birds, Mewtwo, and Groudon.

3) What is your favorite opportunity in Soul Silver?

I'm more familiar with the original GSC, but I always loved catching Lugia and getting the Extremespeed Dratini. Lugia and Dragonite are two of my all-time favorite Pokémon. I also loved how you could use Buena's Password to collect free Rare Candies without cheating.

4) Do you think newer Pokémon games should also allow 2 regions and 16 badges?

Hell, yeah. I've never liked how all of the regions introduced after GSC have all been completely segregated and isolated places with almost zero callbacks to any of the previous regions. The thing I liked the most about Gen 2 was the fact that it was a direct sequel to Gen 1 and not a hard reboot like Gen 3 or 5. The franchise needs more direct sequels. (And, it also needs more games with a postgame that isn't a battle facility/competitive battling, which a second region accomplishes nicely.)

5) I know it's old news now, but who else was super stoked that they remade Silver and Gold?

Kind of. Despite a few flaws (namely, Lyra and poor continuity with FRLG), HGSS were great games. The graphics were fantastic, and they did a great job of updating GSC's story (a far better job than FRLG did for RBY's story, IMO).

6) Do you think they'll ever remake Crystal?

When DS games can no longer be played on the newest handheld. Generation 1 (the last Gen that can't be played on a 3DS) needs to be remade again before they can even start touching the DS games. Yellow remake, please! :ksmile:

1.You can capture it with an Ultra Ball or Dusk Ball (works at night and on caves), but I haven't captured Mewtwo yet in Soul Silver but I used an Ultra Ball to catch it in FireRed version.
2.To my understanding it's Groudon, Latios, Raikou, Entei, Suicune, Lugia, Ho-Oh,Articuno,Mewtwo,Zapdos,Moltres, Rayquaza (appears in the location you catch Groudon and Kyogre, but only if caught both Pokémon from their respective versions, the Kyogre from Heart Gold and Groudon from Soul Silver.
3.When I captured Lugia, Entei, Groudon and Suicune.
4.I think it's a good idea but making two new regions filled with more new Pokémon would be time consuming (if they put new Pokémon otherwise they might be lazy and not put any new critters into the game). Getting more sixteen badges in HGSS was a fun experience different from the one I had playing Platinum and would like to see more gyms but I doubt it.
5.I was hyped because of having a Totodile and Lugia...etc.
6.I doubt it actually. I would like to see Crystal and the other dated games on the Virtual Console because it would be more fun and they could make cool features like transferring your Pokémon to ORAS (this sounds farfetched I know, but it sounds possible).

Cloned Master Balls?? Awesome....!

I still think that, once they basically "max out" the Pokedex (having over 1000 species), they should make a game where you start from the very first region and work your way through all of them, then they add new regions as it goes on. I doubt it will ever happen and I certainly don't know how they'd pull it off, but it'd be so cool

Yes! Yellow! That was really and truly the first game I played~ Passed down from my older brother, to me, to my little brother :3

I see... I'll try that this time!

One of the few things that original games will always have over remakes... Fun glitches! Even in Generation 2! :-D

Ah, the "travel through every region" idea. I'm not sure if that would work as a main series game (two is pretty much the max you can have before things start to get too crowded), but it could possibly work as a spin-off. (Maybe, one based on the anime?)

Yellow was my first game, too. Got it for Christmas back in 1999. I'd jump for joy over a 3DS remake.

Mm, I'll have to look into it ;)

A spin off/anime game... Perhaps even in first person? It would definitely need a larger console though— especially if they would still want online communications.

Yeah, I'd love to see that angry little Pikachu again ^_^ I always found his loathing in the beginning hilarious~ I also loved how he eventually grew to love you abundantly <3 Man I miss that little guy

It's amazing how much Sequence Breaking you could do in the earlier games compared to the later ones (including the remakes). I loved how you could play the same game in vastly different ways and still reach the same end goal.

Yeah, that would be one for the console, which needs all the help it can get after the flop that was the Wii U. A first-person anime-based adventure game could be pretty interesting.

And, imagine how much better that Pikachu will be with access to the Light Ball. Its lack of an evolution will no longer be a huge problem, and you'd actually be able to keep it around for the entire game without it falling behind. (Poor thing struggled to KO even Lorelei's Lapras and Blue's Vaporeon without major overleveling.)

I've always thought so— mostly because I have always wanted further interaction between player and Pokémon

Indeed— in fact, in my X game I carried a Pikachu from level 3 to the very end. I still use him now too.
