As the title may suggest, this is a thread to talk about and discuss problems or flaws in the Writer's Workshop. I looked around for some time, I didn't find a thread that adresses this kind of subject. Before some random person shoots me down for suggesting this kind of thread, hear me out.

FanFiction is generally a neglected part of a Fandom is looked down upon in many Franchises. Pokemon -in my opinion is the easiest for Fics-. Maybe its because they think that all Fanfictions are poorly written and a pointless waste of time. While some are exactly that, many are imaginative and truly are works of art. Worthy to be published. The Writer's Workshop is Fanfiction's ambassador in Bulbagarden.

Although I have been part of the forums for a relatively short time, I have enjoyed myself. I even have my own Fic that I'm writting and I'm getting generaly good feedback on it, I enjoyed reading other people's Fics and telling them what I think about it. What was once simply a means to pass time is now a full-fledged hobby, and now I put aside some time every day to write a chapter or peak in here to read another Fic or comment on an ongoing one.

Because I like this place, I want to make it better. No place is perfect, but let's try and make it as close to perfection as possible. Advancing the Workshop means the quality of the stories becomes better and more people come along to read a story.

Here is the whole idea.
Post here what you think is wrong in the Workshop. A problem, a flaw if you will. As long as its REASONABLE and come up with a REASONABLE solution for the problem.

If you think that this is a flawless place, the perfect society than do not post. Simple, right?

Anyway, I just want to make this a better place. Maybe it takes more than one puny thread to fix a forum. Maybe it'll drown in a sea of other threads and discussions but maybe, just maybe this will be the first baby step to make this a place worth coming to.

Seriously????!!!
Oh crap. Hmmm I guess I should delete it or whatever, I honestly didn't know.
oh crap.

... I'm pretty sure this violates the forum rules.

How, exactly? I don't see what this violates.

No need to panic, we'll ask somebody about it.

Hmm I don't know, I don't know how it violates either. All it is for is suggesting a flaw then fixing it.
Hmmm I'll have to ask a mod or something, or check those rules.
I'll be over there for now.
Later!

Whew, Thanks.
In the end the point was to benefit the Workshop.
Anyway, I guess the thread is still open.
Must be pretty sucessful, so much excitment in around a hour.
I'll see If I can maybe do same thing in the suggestions area.

*pulls out map*

Don't mind me.

So like I mentioned right in the first post submit a problem and come up with a solution!
Whew.

Well, there is the fact that there isn't a discussion forum yet to put all these topics... and the solution would be to create the forum. You guys were talking about it a month ago and we still haven't come up with anything.

Is it really that hard for an admin to create a new forum?

The fact that Jabber was in the Alaskan wilderness while I had to man, and am still manning, the awards all by myself put a stop to some plans. They still aren't forgotten, relax.

I went through your post and maybe it's just my sleep deprivation, but I don't see what you believe these flaws *are* other than "a lot of people don't read fanfics", which...really happens outside the Workshop as opposed to inside it.

I am not trying to make people read Fics,
Heck, at first I thought Fics were stupid because most of them are of bad quality, or the place designated for them was badly organised and such.
I want to boost the quality of the stories in the Workshop and make a better place for Writers (Fics or otherwise) to come and post their stories.
In the end, the creative corner is where many people pour their talents right?
Having more people read Fics is like a side accomplishment.

Thats all good in theory and everything, but you can't force people to force better quality fics.

I'm not forcing,
I was never forcing better quality. You find the problem and fix it.
When you remove the problem, the place becomes more effective.
The point of the thread is to spot a problem and fix it,
Quality is an end result.
Of course there always will be crappy Fics thats a fact, and I'm not saying I'm perfect, either.

Please note: The thread is from 16 years ago.
Please take the age of this thread into consideration in writing your reply. Depending on what exactly you wanted to say, you may want to consider if it would be better to post a new thread instead.
