Well, sometime ago I was introduced to a new amazing forum script - IceBB. At first it looked just like an ordinary forum script but on close examination, it proved to be much better than PHPBB, MyBB and SMF in both appearence and features. I really love it and I think this will be the new forum script of the generation. What are your comments about IceBB? It has a superb admin panel, a decent Layout and some rocker features.

First Mihopa...now IceBB XD Looks meh to me. CC, if you could directly send me the .zip archive over MSN, I'd love it XD It's not downloading right, and I'd like to use it.
 
I can't approve of any forum software that refers to threads as 'topics' :|

also, it.. just looks like a cross between vb and phpbb o_O
 
I prefer "topics" over "threads" - more used to it.

How did CC get into being support... -__-

Well, for your kind information Paul, I promote anything which I consider is good and which I feel others could benefit from. I would have promoted IceBB even if I wasn't a staff member and IceBB has really encouraged me to learn Advanced PHP to start modding IceBB.

Anyway, I can't believe that such a small thing like "Threads/Topics" would bother you so much. It is no big deal though. If lot of people feel that way, we could change it. And since you get the full source-code for IceBB, you can customize it for your own need. Just change one variable to "Threads" from "Topics" and there you go.

Paul, I don't understand why the download is not working for you. I just downloaded an extra copy yesterday as I messed up my current one and it works perfectly. Did you try copying the download Link and pasting it in Flashget or someother download manager.

As for your final question Greg, let's just say CC really knows what he likes and he doesn't hide it either. :p. ^~^

well I wouldn't use it anyway because I can't stand PHP and have my own forum besides.

^_^ :p. Yup you did! But you got me into it and there's no turning back.

@Eevee, I can't believe I'd find someone who doesn't like PHP that much. Well, sad to break it to you but PHP is the developers language of the present and it sure will suit you a lot. It is a lot easier than other languages too. If you want to use CGI or PERL, let me warn you they are too server-intensive.

P.S : I just learned to make my own hits counter. Yay!! PHP Rocks.

This here Eevee is a genuine Perl fan. Any one objection will be countered ten times. (Neither PHP nor Perl are flawless. In fact, I'd say they're both rather decrepit piles of features weakly glued together over the years... up until Perl5 and PHP4, approximately. Then it's big redesign, hopefully for the cleaner - time will tell.)

no, PHP is a horrid bloated mockery of a language and I hate it. it can be the "language of the present" all it wants, but all that tells me is that there are lots of people floating around too lazy to learn anything else.

nothing is flawless. and perl was glued together quite a bit better.

also perl6 is more of a complete redesign than perl5 was. not that I'm terribly familiar with perl4, it's a bit before my time...
 
*Points ^* That was really offtopic. Anyway, it would be nice if you guys rated IceBB and gave some tips to improve it, so that I can discuss it with the developers.

Didn't mean to offend you =/ Sorry if I did...it wasn't my intention.

I'll retry the download ^^ I'd like to switch PaulHQ's forums over to IceBB just to try it.

One thing I didn't like is when you delete a forum, the posts don't get deleted as well - they're still in the database and randomly appear attached to other threads. :/
 
I noticed that...I just added an Icebb forum to my site.
I gave it an 8/10

It still has alot of work to be done on the software itself..
 
I still prefer SMF to Ice. I was never a fan of Invision, and Ice is too much like it.
 
Check it Beta 6, it's a lot different. Paul, were your problems fixed?
