What's with the Divine Wheel motift I'm seeing in a lot of JRPGs? I just started to really notice it. Bahamut had one in Final Fantasy X, Susanoomon in Digimon, Arceus in Pokemon, and I think Origin from the Tales Series has one too. What is this rooted in? That some grand holy deity has a gigantic glowing spinning wheel behind them? Is this some Asian culture's version of the Halo? It usually looks Indian to me, but I'm not sure.

Didn't Okami also have the same thing?

It really confuses me as well.

I believe it's Hindi (I think it's connected to either the creation or the destruction of the earth. Shiva was in some big battle, I believe). Though there are several references to a "divine wheel" in Christianity (and, possibly, Judaism. And, presumably, Islam).

And there are mysterious circular objects that appear in several fairly well-known paintings, and cave paintings. But...that goes off on a whole different train of thought.
