Do Ghost Pokémon actually die?

This particular aspect about my favorite type of the Pokémon, the Ghost Pokémon, caught my interest. I personally feel that the Ghost-type Pokémon do die, just like any other Pokémon, though they seem to have prolonged lives. If that were not so, the entire Pokémon world would be over-ridden by these Pokémon, since most of them (actually all of them, except Giratina) have the tendency to breed.

What do you all think?

I don't know if I'd picture them "dying" the way I would a living being, but most of them can probably stop existing in some form. I'd say that Ghost types explicitly said to be the spirits of once-living things like Yamask probably wouldn't, but Gastly for example could probably stop holding itself together and just sort of dissolve, or something. The ones that are explicitly actual ghosts could probably move on to the afterlife and "die" in that way as well, like the Marowak ghost in Lavender Tower.

I always thought they went to the ghost world/spirit world. Dusknoir dex entries say it helps guide lost spirits to this world, which could be ghost Pokemon ready to live the regular world.

Good question, I believe that ghost Pokemon probably do die, if they can breed and hatch out of eggs like other Pokemon then they more than likely can die like other Pokemon; they aren't ghost-ghosts they just have ghost-like qualities, that's why they are called ghost type. They might just have a longer lifespan than other Pokemon though.

If your talking about ghost Pokemon (like Marowak's ghost in Lavender Tower), then they don't die they are laid to rest; moved on to the afterlife if you will.

I always though that the Ghost type WERE dead. Like Yamask is a dead human, or various other Ghost Pokemon are just dead things that never moved on, they've stuck around here in the physical world and do stuff like every other Pokemon. Then, when they are ready to move on, Dusknoir helps them into the spirit world, Since he's dead too, he knows the way.
The mention of Giratina is a good point though, since if he's dead then the Distortion World might do some freaky stuff (you know, freakier than normal), but if he's alive it kinda busts my theory... I'm just gonna say that he's actually UNdead (hence that skeletal motif), and monitors the Distortion World like that.

If Dusknoir is a Grim Reaper figure, Giratina might be a Hades sort of deal, ruler of the underworld.
