Do people not need as much sleep in the Pokemon world?

This is sort of a silly question but bare with me lol. Ever notice how on some episodes they'll show Ash and whoever the character of the day is doing whatever the episode involves and sometimes it'll be from night time to sun up. Which means Ash and his friends apparently stay up all night and then head off to the next town

They show them sleeping or camping out once in awhile, but is it possible the humans don't need as much sleep in the pokemon world?

I don't think so. I guess they sleep usually in woods, but every now and then (when there's an opportunity) in Pokémon Center. And it's shown that they also take some daytime naps.

I dunno, I guess. They seem to sleep often enough in the anime, and in the games you can only sleep/rest in certain places like near a bed or when talking to an old lady (what a creeper :-( ), but it only seems to benefit your Pokemon...

I don't have a problem staying awake 50 hours straight if I'm doing something very exciting (I sleep the whole next day though). So I guess they can too.

It's as needed as going to the toilet. How many series have you seen where characters go to the toilet everyday?

That's the answer.

Ha...I don't think all things are shown within an episode. That'd be pretty boring if I had to watch Peter get to the bar on every episode of Family Guy.

They most likely gt as much sleep as real world people. It's just not shown that much for the sale of the plot. It would get boring really quickly and it would slow down the episode. It would also shorte. The actual plot of the episode. So basically, sleeping isn't shown forthe same reason eating, drinking and any other thing people do to not die/ be healthy: it doesn't have anything to do with the plot

It's not like they are going to show every time they go to sleep. Sometimes they do because it happens in that episode, but other times they don't because it's just a tedious thing to show.

Right. They have only ever showed the characters sleep when it is relevent to the plot, like in the Nacrene museum. There would be no point in the animators going out of their way to show characters sleeping.

Jee I wonder why a 20 minute show doesn't show much sleeping >_>

I never see a lot of sleeping in reality shows either, I guess real people don't sleep

They just don't show them sleeping that often. o3o Would get boring real quick. We know they do, though...usually.

They're probably too afraid to sleep, because a Hypno could come at any second and give them a Nightmare.

That's Darkrai's job. >( The only thing they need to fear from Hypno is kidnap.

It's anime. People fall off hundred-foot cliffs and barely get scuffed up. I'm pretty sure the real-world dependence on a good night's sleep doesn't apply as much to the characters on the show.

Or you know, they show what's plot-relevant.

or when talking to an old lady (what a creeper :-( )

I never thought the old ladies were creepy, just sweet that they were so hospitable letting me sleep in their beds and giving me soup! Maybe it's some kind of international group or alliance dedicated to helping the weary traveller. Now if a Gentleman told me the same thing I'd be slightly more worried that they have ulterior motives.

Speaking of which, I wonder if one day there's going to be a house where somebody tells you you can 'rest here', but instead they go into battle with you? That would be amusing.
