Do Pokemon criminals like Team Rocket go to jail?

... or do they just black out and lose half of their money and wake up at the nearest pokemon center, when they're caught

It's been shown on a number of occasions that Team Rocket blast off, and then land in a different area, and are not caught.

The only games to feature a jail was Collosseum/XD. Most of the RPGs feature a type of police force, but it's never known if they've ever apprehended anyone. A lot of them (especially in D/P) seem too jittery.

Yes they do get caught, however the Rocket trio usually blast off and when they are apprehended they seem to have "Get out of jail free" cards or something.

There is a jail but Team Rocket and others are so slippery and get away too fast.

Butch and Cassidy have gone to jail before (they *claim* Giovanni paid their bail, but I doubt he'd compromise his security that much). Zanna and Rion wound up in jail at the end of 5, as did Phantom in 9.

Also, the Rocket Scout mentioned that the police had been cracking down on the Rockets. That was in late Johto and may not still be going on, but the fact that it *was* shows that there's some police-involved fate.

I don't think they keep them in jails, at least not for long. I think criminals are executed on the spot. Shot to death in a seed machine gun firing range. It's why caught criminals never appear back in the anime, and also why it's safe for little kids to go around on their own.

So Butch and Cassidy are undead zombies from beyond the grave? And that prison library in 5 was part of the afterlife?

Butch and Cassidy were probably traded for some undercover Jenny's who tried to infiltrate Rocket HQ (Hence "payed bail", because bail does not work in a way that frees you forever). Cassidy also studies the ancient art of Ninjutsu, using kamawari doppelgangers so the police just think they executed them. Of course all rockets are trained in the secret arts: wither it is Ninja Transformations, Ninja Pit Fall Trap digging, or Ninja Sentai Mecha Summoning they come prepared to fight back against what we find controversial rulings of the police. It's why Ash and co are so surprised to see them all the time and no one outside of Johto/Kanto have heard of them, that crafty Rocket Ninjutsu.

It's also a sharp contrast to those peace loving Rangers who let criminals go the second they catch them in a form of protest against the harsh policing in the pokemon world.

the question really is: "Does Officer Jenny do her job?"

the answer really is: no. go watch "enter galactic". she was right there and relied on a bunch of teenagers to stop a criminal force. did she do anything but say "You cant do this!" not really. She had no backup, no weapon, no handcuffs for crying out loud. some officer. and then, she let them fly away without pursuit. "Oh well, we got the meteorites back!". wayta go, Jen.

I think you're right.

some rockets have gone to jail. and in one episode, hunter j's hetchmen are busted. JJ and M escape 24/7 however.

They must be jailed as, considering the crimes committed, they must be. With those sorts of crimes they would be unlikely to get away wityh any lesser punishment, and in a world like that I imagine there is no death sentance.

Well its pretty hard to kill them considering they can go through a thunderbolt and survive, fall from thousands of feet in the air and survive, and even survive being burned.

I think everyone in the world there can survive the first and last of those. With varying degrees of success anyway, since some come out of them without injury and yet Pryce had severe burns...
And I think Vicious may be the only person we've seen fall from such a height (although even if others survived, I wonder if they'd be in fighting condition right away like he was).

Well, with the way characters act I'm sure Handguns and Rifles still work...

My points still stands. If Cyrus was caught he would HAVE to be jailed I mean he tried to become ruler of the universe by destroying this one. There cannot be any other punishment as nothing apart from imprisonment (besides death, which I do not agree with by the way) would be enough to punish the extent of the crimes he has commited, I mean you can hardly give him community service.

I wonder, though...is that really illegal? In our world I don't think there's any laws against "trying to destroy the universe". I think the closest they'd book him with would be "reckless endangerment".

In that world, with legendary creatures proven to exist and accessable by trainers, I wonder if they'd have laws set up. Because in all the times Ash and friends have encountered people capturing legendaries, they haven't said a word about how it was illegal or anything, just that it was "wrong" (and even that falls by the wayside when the person is Brandon, but I digress). When Misty yelled at Jirarudan for capturing the Birds, she never mentioned anything about illegality...or even moral questions (which no doubt existed), but rather why he didn't keep them in pokeballs, which seems a strange angle in a situation like that, but it may be that that's the closest thing she could think of.

And then laws may differ from region to region. Even if they're in the same country, there's state-to-state or whatever your country's equalivant is.
